I'm connecting my dell laptop to a desktop computer using an ethernet cable. On both ends I see the cable is connected and I see on the computer "it shows connected". but they can't see each other and so can not share any file/folder. I have also checked that on both the computers, there is no firewall blocking them and I restarted both of them after connecting still I can't.

and the laptop computer does not shows "view workgroup computers" as the desktop does. and the laptop does not even shows "setup a home or office network" while the desktop does.

so I'm very much frustrated.

I need your help. It will be highly appreciated.

A laptop computer has Intel (R) M Processor 1660 MHz 221 MHz.

So I want to know that How much is the processor of this computer, is it the first one or the second? What does 1660 MHz stands for and 221 MHz stands for or shows?

Actually my Dad is buying a second hand laptop which has the above details. Can you tell me what is the first one MHz for/shows and second one also. Other details of the computer are fine.

Also tell me what is clock rating?

We all are earning points by answering each others questions, but has anybody ever thought what we will get by earning more points? Just an increase in the level, opportunity to ask more questions with those earned points or something useful.

Few days back, I was on level 1 but when I crossed 250 points and I went up to level 2. So what we are going to get from: Yahoo if we keep increasing our points. in system properties, under general tab, the things displayed are: Intel (R) Pentium (R) 4 CPU 2.66 GHz. 2.66 GHz, 504 RAM.

So I want to know what is this 2.66 GHz and why it is displayed twice and my other computer (laptop computer) shows Pentium (R) M, 1056 MHz 1056 MHz, 504 RAM.

what does these MHz means, are they good, means is this computer works good. and also tell me what is this Pentium (r) M. also tell me what M stands for.

I'm have two computer connected to each other using LAN. I can share folders without any problem but sharing the internet connection on the client computer with the host computer does not work. I have marked the items in the internet connection sharing settings under "advanced" tab. marked required items that allow the internet to share on the client computer. And on the client computer I can see the computer connected to the internet via LAN but I can browse websites and cannot check e-mail even the Outlook Express doesn't work. The IP address of the client computer is: 192.168.0.2 Subnet Mask of the client computer 255.255.255. and Default gateway of the client computer 192.168.0.1 which is actually the IP address of host computer.

NOTE: I can see on the client computer that it is connected to the internet but cannot browse sites or check e-mail. Please help me by giving a detail information. Thanks and God bless.

I have connected two computers successfully using cross over cable and I share data with no problem and I don't know why I'm not able to share the internet as well.

The configurations I have made on the host computer to share the internet connection with client computer are as follows:

1. Right click on the internet connection->Properties->advanced tab and then marked the items under Internet sharing.

2. then on the client computer, opened tools->Internet Options->connections tab->LAN Settings there I marked the automatically detect settings.

And It still didn't worked on for the client computer and on the clien computer I removed the mark from the "Automatically Detect Settings" and marked the second item below it and filled the IP address of the Host computer (192.168.0.1).

And it is still not working. Please help me and reply fast.

I need your help again, in setting up our two computers via cross over cable. I have done the required configurations needed to share internet connection, printer and file. Worgroup name is same on both the computers and they show that they are connected @ 100.0 Mbps. When I go to "Network Places" and click on "View Workgroup computers" it says "Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact your network administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available". (This happens both; the host and the client computer). As I run the NETWORK DIAGNOSTICS, the results displayed are pinging 192.168.0.1 request time out. Packets sent: 4, Lost: 4. (IP Subnet is: 255.255.255.0)

Hi all,

I have connected my two PCs via cat5 ehernet cable. (cross over cable). the light is on on both cable plugs showing its connect. Now when I go to "Network Places" and click on "View workgroup computers" it says "the workgroup is not accessible, contact your administrator. The list of servers for this group is currently available". Please tell how to share internet connection and folders on the client computer with the host computer.

Dear Expert,

I'm trying to install USB 2.0 Driver on my computer which has Windows 98 on it. I have successfully installed the following thing: "Intel USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller". But now the computer is saying that "USB Device" is still not installed. (All these details, it is showing in "Device Manager").
