How do I convince someone that wifi is perfectly safe?
My friend refuses to turn on a wireless network in her house because she thinks it is bad for you. She just doesn't seem to listen to logic and reason, and ignores the fact that all scientific evidence outweighs her opinion. By not using wifi, she's making her and her family's life more difficult. I don't want to offend her, but it's bothersome how ignorant she is.

Two cysteine molecules in a protein may undergo oxidation to form a disulfide linkage. It is possible to reverse this process by adding a suitable reducing agent. What is the change in the oxidation state of the sulfur atoms during reduction?
(A) 1 to -2
(B) 2 to -1
(C) 2 to 0
(D) 1 to 0
Answer key says it is (A) "This is the only reduction (the only answer where the oxidation state is reduced)."
That answer doesn't make any sense to me. All the options indicated show a reduce in oxidation state (i.e. first number is greater than second) so what are they talking about? Furthermore, I'm not sure how to even do this question.
Thanks for your help!

3 AnswersSearch Engine Optimization9 years agoCan you answer this halloween brainteaser? (see below)?
There was a crime committed on Halloween. The police don’t know much about the motive for this crime, but were tipped off with two pieces of information about the culprit, both of which come from a reputable witness. The first piece of information is that the culprit is named Steve. The second is the location of a pumpkin-carving contest in which Steve, the perpetrator, will be a part of.
The police set up their tactical teams outside of the venue and almost immediately break in and raid the contest. Among the competitors that are pumpkin-carving include a ghost, a skeleton, a goblin, an ogre, and a vampire. Without hesitation, the police immediately apprehend and arrest the ogre and charge him for the crime. How did they know to arrest him?
(no, he was not wearing a nametag; nothing obvious like that)

out of bounds, past the endzone, what happens?
Is it a turnover? Does the point count? Do they get to take it back to the endzone line?

Do men working in straight pornos get paid more or in gay pornos? I figured that gay porno is less common so that could mean they make less, or it could mean they make more. While you're at it, which would you say is a bigger industry? Gay or straight pornography?

1 AnswerPhysics1 decade agoWhat kind of super-glue/adhesive will work on my plastic container?
I broke the handle off of a decorative, firm plastic container, and the regular crazy glue I had didn't bond to it. All the glue said was that it doesn't work with polyethylene plastic. I'm not sure if that means for sure the plastic I have is polyethlene, since all the polyethylene I've see is for disposable containers and bags. Is there another kind of adhesive to try?

The expectation value has the form integral over y (y*f(?))dy) where f is presumably some function of y, but I'm not sure

1 AnswerOther - Internet1 decade agoIn fluid flow through a pipe, is it reasonable to say the fluid is moving as fast as 195 m/s (700 km/h) ?
I did a lab, where I have water flowing through a pipe, and I calculated using the Hagen-Poiseuille equation that the average velocity is like 700 km/h. Is that even possible? The pipe is 3.81 cm diameter, 0.40 length (length is distance over which pressure drop is measured... which was in this case only about 1.7 kPa)..
thanks
5 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoTrue or False: Suppose y = y(x) solves dy/dx = f(x) ; If f(x) is periodic then y(x) is periodic.?
Since dy/dx = f(x). so dy = f(x)dx -> y is the anti derivative of f(x). Therefore, the question wants to know, "is the anti-derivative of a periodic function still periodic?"
Please show proof to a reasonable level of "rigourousness"
Thanks!

If you have a set S = { A in R (100x100) | A is symmetric} is the dimension 9999? If not, what is the dimension?
I know that generally the dimension would be 100 * 100 = 10,000, but what does making it only symmetric matrices do and why?
