  • How beneficial is it to read to infants?

I'm the proud auntie of a 3 month old. I've heard that reading to babies benefits them in the future. It feels like we're really bonding! So far, all he's done is quiet down and sleep (which seems to benefit ME more than him lol)!

What good will it do for him down the road? If you've done this for your child/children, how has that helped their development? If you're an expert in child development, could you provide a reference or two?

  • Is Facebook slowly taking over the world?

It seems like it got real popular overnight. It seems like almost every organization has a Facebook account. How much influence does Facebook have on people's lives?

  • If you use an HE washing machine, are you reducing the amount of water normally used to wash clothes?

My family purchased an HE washing machine a few years ago. Unlike "normal" washers, you don't tell the machine how much water to use; it just knows somehow. I was wondering since it somehow knows the amount of water to use no matter how much clothing you put it in, is this considered a green technology? Are we really using less water overall or is the machine "thinking" for us? FYI: It cleans well but it's not easy finding detergent for it.

  • Why is tuna cooked rare?

No, not canned tuna --Tuna steaks!

Usually when I see someone on TV cooking tuna, they always prepare it rare. Does anyone have any idea why? I know that with beef steak, there's a variety of preparations from Well-done to Rare but why not with tuna?

Please answer after reading this (trust me, there's no viruses and it's hilarious!):

  • Axe spray deodorant the new way for kids to get high?

I got a memo at work that told me to watch out for kids sniffing their backpacks. Apparently, they can use the fumes of Axe spray deodorant to get high. Is this for real? Does this surprise you?

  • People are becoming more spiritual than religious. Is that true? Why or why not?

I saw a report on TV this morning where the newscaster interviewed a priest from a local church. He mentioned a survey recently taken where a growing number of people stated that they were more spiritual than religious. Do you believe that is the case? Why or why not? What could this mean for our future?

  • Living Single (tv show) question?

There's a woman that dances in silhouette during the opening credits. Does anyone know who she is? Is she credited in the shows credits? I've always wondered this.

  • What's the point of MySpace, Facebook and Twitter?

I don't really understand what the point is of being so connected all the time. Why do these sites exist? What's so fascinating about them? It kinda seems like a waste of time to me.

  • A whole lot of pain! What do I do now that they're gone?

Today I had the rest of my wisdom teeth taken out. (One of them cracked in April and the dentist pulled it) I've iced and drugged myself carefully but it still hurts! All I could eat was mashed potatoes and I have a feeling that my head is going to look like one of those Whoppers candy balls tomorrow when I wake up.

How do I cope? This is nothing like the last time my tooth was extracted! I already had to clean out a giant blood clot (on the oral surgeon's advice mind you), I've been on antibiotics for more than a week (I had a cavity in one of the teeth) and I think I have a fever!

    I just wanna be comfy!

  • What can I eat tonight?

I just got a rotten wisdom tooth extracted. I was told not to eat anything too hot or too cold or too spicy. I was also told to not to eat anything that can be lodged in the socket like chips and rice.

Now I'm really hungry! I ate a banana and I'm waiting for the chocolate pudding to warm up a little but after that, I'm clueless! Please help! I'm starving!!!

  • Can you/How do you change the boot splash screen in Windows Vista?

When I had Mandrake Linux 8.1, I was able to go in and change the background login screen to just about anything I wanted it to be. This gave me warm fuzzies inside because I had the power to do whatever I wanted. ^_^

I know that it's possible to change this in Windows because it's done at the school that I work at but how do I do this at home? Is there an easy way for me to do it that won't involve crashing my system or somehow invalidating my OS?

  • Does it bother you when people misspell the name of your faith?

I've seen Johava, Jehovah's and even a Johava's whitnesses. It's making me a bit more upset than it should but why should I be mad over something like that? Anyway, does that irk you too?

  • What do you think of this comic?

It's the Sunday edition of the comic series "9 Chickweed Lane" and is one of my favorites. Normally I wouldn't post links to ask for opinions but as this one was about religion, I just couldn't resist. Please read throughly and then add your thoughts:

What do you make of this comic? Is Thorax's assumption correct? Or just plain hilarious?

  • Does Pedigree make your dog's teeth fall out?

Ever since the dog food scare a while back, my mom insisted that they have Pedigree. Now a couple of the dogs are missing teeth. I don't think the food and the missing teeth have anything to do with each other: one dog was a puppy and the other is over 8 years old.

If you regularly feed your dog Pedigree, has your canine experienced any dental losses?

  • Would you go to your lesbian mother's wedding?

I'm more or less curious as to what some folks may/may not say. I've kinda already made up MY mind but how does that sit with you? Would attending the services (outside of a church, mind you) and the reception bother your conscience? Why or why not?

  • Lately this has been happening; is it weird to you too?

There's this ice cream truck that comes around the neighborhood at like 9:30 at night. It gets dark around 7:30-8pm so I don't understand why he's roaming the neighborhood so late. If some kid was out there with their parents and they tried to get some ice cream, it's so dark that the ice cream guy wouldn't see them and they could get hurt.

Do you think that's weird and kinda creepy? I do.
