Hello! I'm Matt, I'm 19, I live in England and I frequent the LGBT section of the answers site. I like other dudes. I'm just that badass. I'm hoping to study maths at university at the moment, but since most of the mathematics section consists of "do my homework for me for free!" type questions, I tend to avoid it. I'm also an avid gamer and critic of religion so I may answer questions related to either topic occasionally.

  • Why can t I see my friend on video call (Skype)?

I ve been trying to vid call someone for a while, and he can see me, but I can t see him.

Skype does register his webcam (he sees himself when testing) and he has DirectX, and he can video call other people but not me. We both have the latest versions downloaded.

Is there anything obvious that could be causing this?

  • Is there a way to change my Yahoo avatar?

I recently updated my profile with an avatar change, as you can see if you go to my profile page. The current one is of Hope from Final Fantasy 13-2. However, whenever I'm answering questions, my previous avatar is shown. I made the change months ago now, and I've cleaned my cache, so why am I still seeing the old avatar? Am I doing something wrong?

  • What would it feel like getting your neck snapped and how easy is it to do to someone in real life?

I was watching an old episode of Dexter recently and he broke this guy's neck. This scene has been haunting me ever since; I keep getting disturbing thoughts whenever I see somebody about their neck being broken like that. ._.

I must sound like a future serial killer. Yay.

Anyway, I'm wondering how easy it would be to break a neck like that with your hands, how quick the death is and how much it would hurt. Hopefully, this will set my horribly curious mind at ease.

I'm also curious to know how actors fake those scenes - how do they make sure they don't ACTUALLY kill the person they're acting with?

  • How would solar system planets be listed in descending order?

Fairly simple question requiring little elaboration, I suspect. I know that there isn't really a top/bottom in space, but assuming that the Earth wasn't at a tilt and that the Northern hemisphere was "up", how would the planets rank in descending order? Or do they sort of 'align'? And is there any sort of basic reasoning/general rule that could help determine it?

I also know that some planets orbit in such a way that their positioning would change on the ranking, which probably complicates things!

  • Should I see a doctor about my lack of weight gain?

I'm 19, and it's never really bothered me that I have an absurdly high metabolism and can't gain weight as a result. I'm not particularly self-conscious in that respect, but recently I've been noticing some worrying things and I'm not sure if they're related, if they're signs that I might have a deeper health issue.

Firstly, it often hurts me to bend my elbow. It seems like something out of a cartoon, the sort of flimsy arm archetype and yet, it's like there's a sort of strain here, as though it's hard for the blood and skin to get around the bone when I curve my arm. It's a horribly uncomfortable feeling.

Secondly, I instantly need to urinate when I take a drink. There's almost no delay at all, I drink and then it comes straight out the other end. That's been the case for around a month or so now.

I've been to doctors in the past, and they've said that I'm slightly underweight, but not worryingly so, but I don't feel reassured by it. I'm wondering if I should start to take this seriously, as I've grown since then, but my weight isn't increasing.

  • Why isn't my Xbox controller working?

I have a wireless controller, and it was working absolutely fine yesterday! Today, however, it won't power up - the ring in the centre of the controller doesn't even flash once. I've tried inserting completely new batteries and it's had no effect. Is there anything that I can do to avoid having to buy another one? ._.

  • How do I stop my shift keys from glitching?

As of a few days ago, my shift keys have suddenly become rather glitchy, hence the title. I can't seem to type some capitals without extreme difficulty. Typing the alphabet with shift pressed gives:

    ABCDEFGIJKLMOPQRTVWXYZ

I also can't type underscores and other punctuation without extreme difficulty, and it's really irritating, but only when the shift key is involved. Recently, I turned off the shortcut for stickykeys, since it's annoying to have that activate. I wonder whether that's involved, somehow...

  • Can anyone help with the identification of this bug?

My friend lives in Florida, he wants to try to find information on the order, etc of this insect he caught. His mom is insisting it's some incredibly rare thing, apparently. Anyway, I've tried using various dichotomous keys but I just keep getting muddled and confused, so if anyone can help us work out what this is (just for curiosity) then that would be much appreciated.

  • How do I stop dirty/horrible/disturbing thoughts from entering my mind?

Within the past few weeks, I constantly find myself subject to really horrible, filthy thoughts - sometimes of a sexual (but not in a remotely arousing or pleasant) nature, sometimes regarding blood and gore, sometimes regarding decomposition - the problem is that the more I try to suppress them, the harder they become to suppress and the more I remember them. I have a relatively stress-free life, so I'm not sure why I'm having these thoughts but I'd really like for them to stop because it's really making me miserable. It happens several times an hour and it's really demoralizing.

  • Would you be less inclined to read a novel, or series, if the protagonist was bisexual/gay?

Please don't assume this is a homophobic question because it isn't. I am an aspiring writer, with absolutely no experience, but I was just wondering something. One particular series I had planned features a bisexual protagonist. Throughout the novel, his romantic inclination towards people of the same gender will form a part of a plot point, and while he will be attracted to women, this side of his character will not be explored significantly. Although there will not be any romantic scenes (well, there will, but only in the form of "the future of his dreams" and daydreams and visions of desires), it will heavily feature an unrequited love for another male main character.

I am wondering, as a general question, whether you as a reader would be able to relate significantly less with such a character. I don't mean "are you homophobic?" although to an extent, if you are homophobic, you'd obviously dislike this particular protagonist. Would you feel awkward reading about a man's love for another man? If this came as a sudden revelation at some point in the series, would it have a profoundly negative impact? Would you find such scenes unmoving or uncomfortable to read?

I understand that this is not a unique nor innovative thing to do: there are lots of novels of many different genres which feature LGBT protagonists or characters in a whole range of situations, but some things, like the fan outrage when it was revealed that JK Rowling had assumed Dumbledore was gay, make me wonder whether the negative impact would, as a writer, impede a novel's appeal significantly enough to challenge a series' success.

This is merely speculation; I could (and intend) to write other series with heterosexual relationships featuring heavily, but it would feel more natural for this particular series if the character was bisexual in terms of the story development.

  • Why can't I open youtube videos?

Today, I've done a huge battle vs a virus called Galileo security service. After several hours, I removed the damn thing entirely using MalwareBytes.

But since then, I've been unable to view youtube videos. I can load the website fine, but when I choose a video, it just reveals a black screen.

This link contains an example: http://i56.tinypic.com/e9f81g.jpg

I don't know how to rectify this. I doubt it's anything related directly to the virus, but perhaps a necessary file was deleted or something. Is there any known way to resolve this?

  • How do I remove Galileo system cleaner virus?

My school's website had a virus on one of its past-paper downloads it seems (how inspirational). This thing pretends to be an anti-virus software called Galileo system cleaner. It continuously causes pop-ups - every 30 seconds - and keeps scanning my pc. I have been unable to delete it manually. I've noticed some other people have recently had the same thing, but as of yet no-one I know has successfully removed it from their PC.

  • Are there any 360 games like these out soon?

Hey, I'm in need of urgent help. Never have I been more desperate.

    My Xbox 360.

I've completed all of my games and I'm dry. I feel...empty, hollow.

Are there any games like Burnout on Xbox360? I hate racing games generally (PGR 4 sucks, for example), but Burnout is an exception. I love the variation of challenges, as opposed to just ordinary racing around the same tracks continuously, the whole thing of blowing my opponents up and taking them out with me is awesome ^.^

I also like RPGs like Fallout and Oblivion and Saints Row, but not GTA. I intend to get New Vegas when it comes out.

Finally, are there any games like Final Fantasy out on 360? I've played FFXIII but the only similar game I could find was 'Resonance of Fate' which has pretty mediocre reviews.

    Thx for any replies.

P.S. Nerds are cool people too!

  • Which bowls are suitable for microwave cooking?

    Ok...I'm a 17 year old guy so I should know this. I don't.

My parents have left for a week and they've left me supplies for cooking for myself. I know that I need to put pasta in a bowl, cover it with foil, and then pierce the foil several times (looking forward to that). But I'm scared some of my bowls will not be suitable for microwave use?

I already feel humiliated enough as it is that I have to ask.

  • What is a one-winged angel?

"One-winged Angel" is a song name from an old Final Fantasy game. I played it a long time ago but recently was reading some trivia and I came across the name of the song. At a later stage, someone somewhere else had named a piece of work "One-winged angel" obviously after the song, and I've seen a few references to it elsewhere.

Now as someone who studies english, even at a basic level, I like to decode symbols and images when they are put into my mind. It's a habit that teachers give you at school which never leaves >.< The problem is....I can't work out what a one-winged angel symbolizes or suggests. I have a few different ideas going around my head but...none of them seem to work in context and nor do I think they're very advanced.

So my question is: what does the use of the term "one-winged angel" imply? As I've said I'm not incapable of thinking - I have my own ideas, I'm just wondering what the term suggests to you.

  • Grammar of personal pronouns - which order?

I understand that it is better grammatically to say 'He and I went to the cinema,' as opposed to 'Me and him went to the cinema,' for example, but I'm not sure of the correct ordering of some other pronouns. For example, which is correct?

'He and you' or 'you and he'?

'Them and you' or 'you and them'?

Some animals live for hundreds of years, but I'm aware that others may have under a week. Which animals have the lowest life expectancies? My guess would be some sort of fly? Specific names would be nice!
