  • How long can an insurance company make you wait to be approved for Long Term Disability?

So here it is. My husband has MS and was diagnosed 2 years ago. He is on infections and within the past 2 years has gone on short term then long term since Jan. Anyway every 3 months he gets reviewed and then waits approval for his long term. He also has been diagnosed with clinical depression and anxiety. Well Prudential is is the company that deals with the long term. He hasnt been paid in 3 months!! They have conviently not recieved the medical records that were sent out twice, then finally got all of them the third time. Now we have been waiting them to be reviewed for the last 2 weeks. I have talked to the person that is going to review them and she keeps saying it will be done tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes and she never returns my calls. When I do talk to her she just says she is sorry the doctor has not reviewed them with her yet and I get a line of excuses. This has affected my husbands health for the worst and he cant deal with her anymore, so I take care of it. She said one day the computers were down and today she said that his files were on back log, in short they havent got to them. How long can they make us wait? We are struggling terrible as we have 2 children and lots of bills. If there anything I can do. He did apply for SSD and they said they will have a decision in another month, I just dont know what to do about Prudential in the mean time. Can they make us wait and if so how long before I can really do something. I feel like I am caught between a rock and a hard place, as I dont want to be rude to this lady from Prudential because she kinda holds our well-being in her hands, but I am so angry. She's just giving us the run around. She did say once the review is complete he will get back pay, and promises that it will be complete by next week, but she is just a liar in my book. Any advise would help. We have even had my husband Disability Advocate contact her as well as his therapist, and they too have gotten the same story.... it will be complete by tomorrow. Please help our family is really struggling.

  • My neighbor is sabotaging potential buyers for our house, can we sue?

Two years ago my neighbors wanted to buy our home. They had it appraised and offered us 55,000 for it, if we didnt put it on the market to save them money. We agreed, unfortunately we didnt get them to sign anything and they backed out last minute because they couldnt get the loan. Anyway we listed it and since have had numerous people look and it and say they were interested until the neighbor came over and started to trash talk out house, making up stories about what needs done on it. They scared away several buyers and are now trying to do a rent to own since they still cant get the money. We have been really struggling paying two mortages and they have offered us way less than the asking price. Are they aloud to trash talk out house, they know if they wait long enought we'll keep lowing the price so they have been waiting it out, and scaring away everyone that has come to look at it. Can we sue them for this? We are ready to just sell the house for way less but I wanted to know if they could really do this so that we dont sell to anyone else and they can get it for dirt cheap. Should we get a lawyer? And will it really be worth out time and money?? Or should we just cut out losses and sell to them and break even with the bank. Any help would be appreciated we are lossing more money ever month and now its been two years of a house just sitting.

  • My Sons telling on himself constantly, and having behaviors that worry me, what to do?

So this is an add behavior. My son goes and stays once in a while ant his grandmothers, my mother house for a weekend or more. Every time he returns home he has some behavior problems, usually due to the fact that my mother spoils his a ton. This time he came home he told me on the way home that he was playing with a lighter the other day. I addressed this (I actually work with behavior problems with children and families) I told him the reasons why he shouldnt be playing with lighters and explained what the consequence could be. I do value his honesty but then he told me he was hoping to burn down the house so that he could live with his grandma. Im worried . This was the first of many telling on himself. Since then he tells us when he rolls his eyes at us, when he says bad words under his breath, and other things.. He is also being very mean to the cat and his sister. I have given consequesnce and talked. My son has never been a behavior problem, he's four.Any ideas

  • What to do with Plywood floor???

Ok so my carpet is completely shot, my children have destroyed it. I would eventually like to put down laminate and maybe carpet that doesnt show stains in my dining room and living room, but just dont have the money at this time. Ok so today I pulled back the carpet and padding and found some kind of wood ploor almost cork like. I am thinking that its plywood but seems to me as softer. I was wondering since it seems to be very porous if it can be finished cheaply until the time comes to lay something down, or would I just be ruining the wood underlay. If it would be a waist of time, is there any other cheap alternatives, other that area rugs. This floor seems like it might cause some splinters. Any info or web sights with neat ideas would be great.

  • Financial help for family dealing with MS?

My husband was diagnosised with MS about 2 years ago. He first lost his vision in one eye and went on short term disability. Luckly his eye sight returned after intense steriod treatment in about three month. About 90% of his vision returned. He has started an injection about 6 months ago due to reacurring symptoms which include loss of vision, numbness in his legs and lips and slurred speech. He again went on short term and then long term after short term ran out. He is now going through the process of applying for Social Security and has talked to an advocate. The estimate of what he will make is unreal. He is unable to work and will only be making about 30% of what he did when he was working,. We have two small children. I got a new job making a little more, but its a daily struggle, I too have health issues, crohns diesease. We need finacial help. We are behind on everything. Is there any charities or donation sights that could help out our family. Anything would help.

  • Having a trial work day at a jewish center, what to expect?

I have been applying for jobs for the past couple weeks. Anyway I got an email for a program director position working in a jewish nonprofit center. Long story short I had two interviews which seemed to go very well. However I was asked at the second interview how much I know about jewish life. I said not much, but I am willing to learn. I didnt hear anything for a week so I emailed them, and they returned my email asking me to come in for a five hour day, kinda like a trial period. I was told I would be given a list of things to do and see how well I interact. I really do want this job, its a position that I can see myself doing for a long time. I however am not jewish, I was raised catholic, but do not practice now. What should I expect. Is there anything important I should now about judism? I've been trying to research some to prepare myself, but could still use some more info, or where to find more info. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Is it legal to get fired over somehting a 6 yr old told my boss?

I recently got a call on Monday not to return to any of the cases I have until I meet with my supervisior and owner. After 4 days of not knowing why I wasnt allowed to return to my job, the clinical director called me and told me the issue, saying it was something my six year old client told my supervisor, which ended up being untruthful. My supervisor is a real pain and is always trying to cause me problem. She for some reason does not like me and has expressed that in so many words. Now my job is on the line. It looks like either the six year old made up a story or my supervisor made up a story to get me in trouble. My question is can I legally get fired due to this and if I do is there anything I can do about it. I've been employed with the same company for 7 years and have never had a problem until this supervisor came along. I just dont think its right to make me wait and loose work. Even though I already told the director what really happened I still have to meet with them. HELP

  • Can a child contract mrsa when getting their adnoids removed?

Both of my children reacently had their adnoids removed as well as tubes. My 4 year old son completely recovered, but my 20 month old has been terrible sick. She is now on here third type of antibiotic( surgery was 1 week ago), and having extreem trouble swallowing and a fever that goes to 103.0. She has been in sever pain and will not eat. I have been forcing her to drink fluids to avoid dehydration. I have called the emergency ent 3 times in the last few days and they change the antibiotics. So I did take her to the doctors today and they said she got some kind of virus that causes blisters in the back of her throat. They told me to continue to give her tylenol with codeine for pain. So I asked about the possiblility of contracting some kind of infection at the hospital during surgery and her pediatricain said there was no way. I was wondering if mrsa or some other infection is possible, or if I'm looking to far into it. Any info would help.
