I would rather read than eat, and always have several books going at the same time - Bill Bryson is a current favorite, but even the back of a cereal box will do in a pinch. Trivia is another favorite, so I find my head crammed with totally useless facts and figures... but I guess I have the potential to be popular at parties. I haven't tested it out yet though. . I'm on here simply to have fun... and to possibly answer questions. Please do not contact me if your only reason for contact is to criticise or critique my answers.

  • What's up with the thumbs down ?

I just went in and checked some of the answers I responded to in the last few months, and there are "thumbs down" all over the place - in almost every category

Not just my answers, but everyone's.

In some cases, ALL answers are given a thumbs down, but in others, all answers but one ... leaving no doubt as to who did the thumbs down on that one.

I know that they lose points for it, and fair enough.. but it's just so juvenile and it ruins it for people who are trying to do the right thing.

I will give a "thumbs down" if an answer is just a joke or is nasty, but never simply because the answerer disagrees with my opinion. We're ALL entitled to our opinions, and most of try to help in the best way we know how to.

I also give a "thumbs up" to answerers that have gone out of their way to answer a question with correct information or who have something positive to say.

Why doesn't *answers* do something about it - like keep a better eye on the people who are just playing games?

  • Family Daycare Providers?

I've been a Family Daycare Provider for years now, and I've searched everywhere I can think of for on-line support or social groups.

It's not an easy job, and as good as my co-ordination unit is, it's hard to take most of my concerns or questions to them, so an online support group or even talking to other carers would be a Godsend...

    Thanks in advance!

  • Why do people cheat on Yahoo Answers?

I was just checking some of the resolved questions I had answered, and when I checked 3 of them, 3 answers had been rated "best answer" even though numerous people had already responded with the same answer - making these people 10th or whatever, in line. It's always obvious when someone has rated their own answer, because they give a "thumbs down" to every answer preceding theirs.

Or when you go to the trouble to help someone, and to give a correct answer, and then these people vote for an answer like "Ur Mama" - which is obviously their own answer, because everyone else has recieved a "thumbs down".

I just find the whole thing frustrating, and wonder if anyone else has noticed it ?
