Why do people cheat on Yahoo Answers?
I was just checking some of the resolved questions I had answered, and when I checked 3 of them, 3 answers had been rated "best answer" even though numerous people had already responded with the same answer - making these people 10th or whatever, in line. It's always obvious when someone has rated their own answer, because they give a "thumbs down" to every answer preceding theirs.
Or when you go to the trouble to help someone, and to give a correct answer, and then these people vote for an answer like "Ur Mama" - which is obviously their own answer, because everyone else has recieved a "thumbs down".
I just find the whole thing frustrating, and wonder if anyone else has noticed it ?

Yea I've noticed it. It is kinda frustrating when you think you are answering a real question and find out it apparently was only asked by the person using a different profile as a way to get points for themselves. I just keep answering anyway because I have to assume it is an true question and someone wants help. In the end I'm doing what I set out to do and that is trying to help someone.

I posted the same thing as You asked. Yahoo made it so that everyone is obsessed to get there name known, I have no idea why. Some users have weird intension's, For me, I like to help and give knowledge to the user who asked the question. I have long answers not like one sentence like that Cena fan thats number one. I think you should just ignore and go on. There are people in live who cheat so there people who cheat here you know? Oh yeah, I haven't voted for 3 weeks, I actually earn my points...

i don't even use the thumbs any more. it really doesn't do much and I cant thumbs down someone just because I do not agree with them and as for cheaters well what they do doesn't harm me in anyway to be honest. if you think about it for the million useless points they get what do they win? the answer is nothing so they are basically wasting their time and cheating no one but themselves. I am here to offer my opinion in hopes that i can help even one person it was well worth my time. to be honest i would gladly give up all my points to help just one person if i could.

There is always going to be cheaters where ever you go. Learn to except this and just pretend they do not exist.. and you will suffer no stress or headache.
I place a thumbs down for real stupid answers, rude answers, other than that I do not even bother..
I am here to answer questions if I can.. if my answer is chosen fine, if not then I let it be
I have noticed that some people ask a question, and then pick someone that thinks exactly like them, so you wonder why they even bothered asking the question, if they did not want to listen to anyone Else's opinion.. That is how I see it...Good Luck.

Yes, I have noticed some things that would indicate "cheating", but really do not have enough info to say for certain that is the case.
It is still frustrating. If you think about it, this site is just a reflection of our society in general. Cheats are everywhere.

Overall it seems the moderation system works fairly well. I haven't been doing this that long, but the most frustrating thing to me is when the asker chooses a wrong answer as best answer just because it sounds good to them and they are too dense to really understand a good answer. I guess their happy.
