What's up with the thumbs down ?

I just went in and checked some of the answers I responded to in the last few months, and there are "thumbs down" all over the place - in almost every category

Not just my answers, but everyone's.

In some cases, ALL answers are given a thumbs down, but in others, all answers but one ... leaving no doubt as to who did the thumbs down on that one.

I know that they lose points for it, and fair enough.. but it's just so juvenile and it ruins it for people who are trying to do the right thing.

I will give a "thumbs down" if an answer is just a joke or is nasty, but never simply because the answerer disagrees with my opinion. We're ALL entitled to our opinions, and most of try to help in the best way we know how to.

I also give a "thumbs up" to answerers that have gone out of their way to answer a question with correct information or who have something positive to say.

Why doesn't *answers* do something about it - like keep a better eye on the people who are just playing games?

Update:

No Melbourne Boy.. I didn't give the thumbs down ! It showed as soon as your answer did !!

Update 2:

I gave you the thumbs UP... :o)

I'm totally with you on this. Unfortunately there are a lot of immature people on here, and they will probably give me a thumbs down for this.

Like you, I give thumbs up for good answers and sometimes a thumbs down for an incorrect or off topic answer. There are trolls everywhere, and no doubt this is their work.

Have you contact Yahoo about this? It would be a good idea to direct them to a specific example next time you see this, and then they can handle it.

    Keep up the good work!

You have to admit that some answers are totally retarded and irrelevant to the question. Hence the thumb down. It is still better than being reported. Or the question itself is totally degrading and all answers were enhancing this question further and therefore all thumb down to all answers.

    ***Edit***

Was that you Kate who just gave me the thumb down? lol
