  • Would you want to know if a friend/co-worker who you have no romantic interest in had a crush on you?

Feel free to skip the details below and just answer the question.

I work with this girl who is already in a committed relationship. She and I flirt quite a bit, but I also know that she has no interest in me romantically. I have a bit of a thing for her and another co-worker knows and she insists that I need to tell her. She says she would want to know if it was her. But I think she just wants her to dump her current boyfriend because he's kind of a control freak. ...I won't go into details because they're irrelevant to the question.

I really have no interest in telling her. I don't see a good outcome if I did. Best case scenario, I get rejected and get permanently friend-zoned and then not only do I risk making things awkward between us, I will lose the fantasy of someday getting to wrap my arms around her. And sometimes, that false hope helps me get through the day. Of course, that false hope is a double edged sword. Whenever I see her with her boyfriend or she talks about him in a positive way, it....Well, everybody knows that feeling.

So, if a friend/co-worker had a crush on you, would you want to know? Even if you didn't share their feelings. Also, how would it make you feel?

  • Can you explain this joke?

Why do cowboys tuck their pants into their boots? ....So the sheep doesn't get away.

What am I missing here? What is the connection between the pants in boots and the sheep?

  • Why is my computer volume so quiet?

I just built my first computer. It's not my speakers because I tried headphones and the headphones were just as quiet. I've tried adjusting the settings in Windows, but it hasn't changed anything. The volume on the speakers, windows, and media player is all the way up. What could be the problem?

  • How can I make the audio on my computer louder? Would a sound card help?

I have some pretty decent Logitech 5.1 surround sound speakers and they worked great on my previous computer. But I decided to build my first PC and I did so successfully, except the sound isn't all that great. I've tried adjusting the settings and got nowhere. Everything SEEMS to be fine. I don't know what makes the difference.

I have everything on max, speakers, windows, media player, YouTube, etc..., but it's so hard to hear.

What can I do to make it louder? When researching to build my PC, I was led to believe that a sound card was completely unnecessary. Would that help?

  • How difficult is it to drop someone from your Verizon cell phone plan?

I am considering adding a friend to my cell phone plan (Verizon), and I trust her to pay her part of the bill, but I just want to cover all my bases. If she loses her job or for any reason can't or won't pay her share, will Verizon let me drop her from my plan with little to no hassle? Or will there be a big fee to pay?

  • My girlfriend wants me to pay for her to get breast implants. Good idea or bad idea?

First, let me say that I have in no way pressured her into this decision. This is all her. She asked me once about it around Christmas time, but I thought she was joking. So we dropped the subject, but she asked me again Thursday morning. She told me that she consulted with a doctor about breast augmentation. After I realized this wasn't a joke, I was a little speechless. I was in no way prepared for this conversation.

She asked me if that's something I would want. I knew instantly that question was a trap. If I said "Yes" then I'm a bad boyfriend for not cherishing her body as is. And if I said "No" then I am a liar regardless of that being the truth or not.

I'm going to interrupt myself to explain my situation. When it comes to relationship stuff, she is a chess player. She has every move I make planned out. She is always 20 moves ahead. She is a Navy SEAL Jedi Ninja with superpowers... I have no chance of defeating her. Yet, I foolishly try. Why? No idea. I suspect that I am some form of masochist.

I told her that she was beautiful as she was. Then she threw me into a minefield of questions. One wrong step and BOOM!!! I'm going to hell for the next week.

Here are some of the questions that I remember, paraphrased and summed up.

Would I be more or less attractive with implants? (Trap)

Am I not worth the money? (Trap)

Do you not want me to feel good about myself? (Trap)

Do you think big breasts are unattractive? (SUPER-TRAP)

Does the image of me with larger breasts disgust you? (Trap)

Then it hit me. I had the perfect argument. I told her that fake breasts are often ugly with scarring and have an unattractive, inhuman look. She then reaches for her laptop, which was conveniently next to her chair, almost as if she was waiting for me to make this argument. She opened her laptop with webpages already open to boob jobs done right...for the most part, and testimonies, and links to some of the best plastic surgeons in the country. And website about the health risks. Which are low and extremely rare.

See what I mean about her always being 20 steps ahead of me.

I should probably mention that I'm not for or against her getting breast implants. I don't want her to do it for me because she thinks that's what I want. And I don't want a blemish on her otherwise flawless body.

I honestly don't know if I should agree to it. She has done her research and has countered every argument I have made. Also she has some decent reasons. All the women in her family that I have met have naturally big breasts. She has told me before that she has always felt like the black sheep of the family. She's also shorter and the only non-blonde female. Her best friend's husband (Who I can't stand) likes to make reference to her "Mosquito bites" when I'm not around.

She is very sensitive about her small breasts and always has been. She does seem to want it for herself.

Is it a good idea or bad idea? From both hers and my perspective.

  • Recommendations for epic and soothing soundtrack type music that's great to listen to without the visuals?

For the past few months I've been carpooling with a friend to my new job which is about 110 minutes away; So, for nearly 4 hours a day, we're stuck in the car without much to talk about. And for the most part, our tastes in music are quite different. He likes rap, I don't care for it, I like rock, he doesn't care for it. However, we have a mutual interest in sort of classical, soundtrack type music. But not all. We're both very particular.

Some songs are great in movies, but on their own, they're less spectacular. Hans Zimmer is a perfect example. The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has a great score, but not great to listen to while traveling. Most scores in my opinion need the visuals alongside the music.

    Songs I love are:

Clint Mansell: Death is the Road to Awe, The Last Man (The Fountain), Lux Aeterna (Requiem for a Dream) and a few songs from Mass Effect 3,

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis: The majority of the Assassination of Jesse James soundtrack (Though it's a little too emotional traveling music)

Epic Score: Creator of Worlds (A tad bit more epic than I prefer, but great nonetheless.), Something to believe in.

The Halo franchise also has great music.

Russel Shaw: Temple of Light (Fable)

Carter Burwell: A few songs from the In Bruges soundtrack.

Two Steps from Hell also has several great songs.

I really prefer that perfect middle-ground between emotional, soothing, and epic.

    Any recommendations?

  • Which graphics card should I get?

I am building a computer for the first time and am on the fence whether to go AMD or Intel. And graphics cards are a whole new area for me. I don't know what I am looking for.

My original goal was to be able to play a game like Crysis 3 on max settings, but after little research on what that would cost, I have come to the conclusion that hell has not frozen over, pigs have not sprouted wings, and I am not Thursten Howell the third. (I'll be surprised if anyone knows who that is without looking it up)

So, new goal; I want to play Crysis 3 on my PC with decent settings. I am looking to spend as little as possible. Building my computer is already bankrupting me. I would like to spend less than $300. And much less would be much better.

What graphics card would you recommend for :

    AMD FX-8350

    Intel i7 3770k

    Intel i5 3570k

  • Should I go AMD or Intel?

I am in the process of building my first computer. I am buying one part per paycheck. I have my case, hard drive, and power supply. I have been putting off buying my motherboard and processor because I can't decide which way to go.

I am considering the AMD FX-8350. It's cheaper than most of Intel's i5 and i7 series'. However, I have read that Intel is better for gaming. Though I don't know if that's just people speaking from brand loyalty. I don't want to spend more than $250. And even less would be better.

Are either truly better than the other? If so, why?

  • Is PC gaming really that much better than console gaming? If so, why?

I've always been more of a console gamer. I prefer a controller to a mouse and keyboard. However, several of my friends have been trying to get me to play a few PC games with them. I admit that PC has some superiority in a few areas. Crysis is a beautiful game on Xbox 360, but looks much, much better on PC with max settings. Mods can be insanely fun. Though I've only used mods on Half-Life 2 and GTA IV.

Anyway, to my point. I am considering giving my computer to my brother and building a gaming PC for myself. But if I were to build a PC, I would want to be able to make it powerful enough to play a game like Crysis on Max settings. And that is not going to be cheap.

But I'm also thinking about passing on it and just getting a next gen console when they release. I could buy both PS4 and Xbox One for the price of building a new PC.

    Is it truly worth it?

  • Is Cherry Heering Liqueur any good? Does it have a cough medicine taste? Is it worth the price?

I went to the liquor store yesterday to pick up a bottle. It was recommended to me. But the store didn't have any in stock and offered to order it, but it will cost a little extra. I don't want to pay the price if its not worth it.

And does it mix well with anything?

  • Can you recommend a good ice wine with great flavor, little alcohol taste, that is inexpensive?

Any specifics would be much appreciated. Approximate price, flavor, etc... I don't know anything about ice wine.

    1 AnswerBeer, Wine & Spirits8 years ago
  • What are some great tasting, straight from the bottle liquors?

Besides for Mike's Hard Lemonade (Any flavor), Smirnoff Ice (Any flavor), or wine coolers. I'm looking for something strong, but without much of the alcohol taste.

A female friend of mine is turning 21 in a week. She absolutely HATES the taste of beer and hard liquor. Even UV is a little too strong for her liking. I've been looking around online and some interesting choices are Pinnacle, Qream and X-rated Fusion. But I don't know what they taste like.

    Any suggestions?

  • Is it worth buying The Shield complete series box set? Is each season as good as the first?

I know it's been off the air for half a decade, but I just started watching it, and I only have access to the first season. I immediately fell in love with the show and want to finish it, but I don't want to pay $120 for a show that's going to gradually get worse and worse like many shows

Are there any bland seasons? Does the show get better or worse? Which was your favorite season?

    And no spoilers please.

  • Ladies, is it weird for a straight guy to use girly scented soaps, shampoos, deodorant, and lotions?

I can't stand masculine scents. It may be a psychological thing. Perhaps they remind me of my former step-dad who was a ...term prohibited by Yahoo Answers Community Guidelines. ...Or maybe I'm just messed up in my head.

My brother always tells me "I wish you wouldn't wear that stuff. If my next girlfriend uses the same stuff you use, that'll be it. I'll tell her you smell like my brother, and then dump her!" This little bit isn't really relevant to my question, I just find it amusing.

What is your opinion of a dude that smells like Sweet Pea, Japanese Cherry Blossom, or Cucumber Melon? Is it a turn off? Would you think it's odd or creepy?

Bonus question, I only recently started using body lotion. Elements of my job dry out my skin and there are odors that lotions seem to help block. Do you have any recommendations for good lotions?

  • Do you get your money's worth with your cable? Is it worth it?

Feel free to skip my ramblings below and just answer the question.

For most of my life, I was an avid TV watcher. I couldn't imagine my life without TV. It was always there for me. Sick? Watch TV. Bored? Watch TV. Feel like getting up and getting some exercise for a change? Nah...Watch TV. I've always been lazy. And laziness and TV go together like lamb and tuna-fish. Or if you prefer another analogy...Spaghetti and meatball. Anyway. In 2006, times were a bit rough and I had to make some sacrifices. I had to sell a bunch of stuff and cut back on some things. One of which was cable. At first it seemed like my life was over. However, almost immediately I realized I didn't miss it. Spending countless hours flipping through the channels, watching annoying commercials, paying a somewhat hefty bill each month, only to consistently settle on watching something I didn't really care for. 60+ channels and I only watched about 3 regularly and would occasionally watch another 5 or so. It seemed like such a waste.

Anyway, onto my point. It's been a long time since I've had cable, I barely remember it. I mostly just watch TV on my computer. However, other people in my household could use some entertainment, and I've been considering getting cable for them and also to support the shows I love.

But is it worth paying for all those channels, only to watch a few? I mean, for $600+ a year, I could buy 300 episodes of various TV shows on Amazon (200 for HD), commercial free and I get to keep them forever.

  • What are some good premium TV shows? Like Dexter, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, etc...?

In the past 5 years, I have rekindled my relationship with television. TV is so much better than it used to be. Of course parts of it are worse than ever (Reality shows). But premium TV is at its highest point.

What great TV shows am I not watching? I'm looking for shows that are more like really long movies rather than shows that feel like TV shows.

Here's a list of shows I've watched and loved:

    - Breaking Bad

    - Dexter

    - The Walking Dead

    - Game of Thrones

    - Sherlock

    - Deadwood

    - Homeland

    - Boardwalk Empire

    - The Sopranos

    - The Wire

    - Fringe

    - Lie To Me

    - 24

    - Rome

    - Spartacus

    - House (Last 2 seasons sucked)

    - Lost (Gradually got worse, but started out pretty good)

Shows I think are okay, but could be better:

    - The Mentalist

    - Suits

    - Last Resort

    - True Blood

    - Person of Interest

    - Burn Notice

    - Sons of Anarchy

    - Jericho

    Shows I'm not interested in:

    - Castle - (I've only seen 1 1/2 episodes, but the characters are hard to relate to. This show feels too much like a ....TV show. But maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance.)

    - Monk - This show was just too predictable. Plus the mystery that kept me watching turned out to be incredibly lame.

    - Oz - I tried really hard to like this show, but after 5 episodes, I just gave up.

    - Criminal Minds - I just started watching this show a month ago. I watched about 7 episodes, and that was it for me. The show has feels redundant, the characters are poorly written, and it seems recycled. It's too predictable.

    - Elementary - This show tried to ruin Sherlock Holmes for me. Nothing about this show reminds me of Sherlock Holmes.

    Any suggestions?
