I want to modify this sentence: struggling through homework on the weekends. Somehow, struggling doesn't seem right to me. What do you suggest? It has to be something to do with working hard but not to the extent that I'm struggling to do it. I hope you get what I mean.

I can't think of something specific right now but I have. You don't have to be specific, just a yes or no would do.

For me it was when my brother had a video chat with me on my birthday.

It's probably very old sometime in the 80s or 90s. It was about a guy who shoots his girlfriend's parents and a baby (not sure if her sibling or child) with a shotgun. He gets caught and he is electrocuted. He was shown being electrocuted. The guy was white, blond and I think the girlfriend was a brunette. It might have been a TV movie.
