  • Catholics, What is the fall?

I ask this because my Catholic friend could not answer so I understood. The Catholic church is not creationist, but still blames “the fall” for evil in the world. So if you do not believe the creation story; that Adam ate the fruit of knowledge in the garden of Eden and disobeyed god, what do you think the fall is?

  • Can someone help me out with The Road?

I’ll admit, I’ve only seen the film. But looking it up the reviews say that the apocalyptic event at the start of the story is unspecified. To all those who have seen the film or read the book, what do you think the event was? I know we can’t know for certain but what’s your opinion?

    Thanks for all answers.

  • What has Obama done wrong?

I realise this is a question that asks quite allot. I’m a Brit and I don’t closely follow what happens in America. I got the vague idea that Barrack Obama was doing a pretty good job. Yet I see a load of quite hateful questions and comments on here. Can someone give me a brief summary on the things he has done to create such ill feeling?

    Thanks guys.

  • Can someone help me out with Taoism?

I realise that I’m asking for allot, but can someone give me a brief overview of Taoism? Googling it has left me a little dissatisfied. What do they believe about after death and what is their explanation for morality?

  • A question for Pascal’s wager fans?

Do you ever use this wager for all the religions man has ever followed? And if you don’t, is this not being hypocritical?

Obviously this does not apply for anyone who doesn’t consider Pascal’s wager as a valid argument.

  • Concerning hell, Can christians help me out?

    I have three questions:

What do you think hell is? Each individual seems to have a different theory.

What do you think you have to do to go to hell when you die?

Do you think it is a just system, and why?

I’m asking for your personnel opinion, I can get bible verses from anywhere.

    Thank you for all answers.

  • A question for lesbians?

I’m sorry for asking a question I have all ready asked, but I didn’t get any answers.

This was something I wondered about. For lesbians, what do you classify as having sex with your partner? When does foreplay become sex in your opinion?

  • A question about free will for christians?

Why does god not intervene and stop a rape? If the answer is free will, then why does god care more about the free will of the rapist than that of the victim?

Also, why did he perform miracles and send a divine son who performed miracles when this would influence the free will to believe in him or not?

    Thank you for any answers.

  • A question for pro life people?

Obviously you have the right to think abortion is wrong.

But why does this give you the right to prohibit it for everyone? If you can provide evidence for why it should be banned then coolio, but if your oppinion is because of your religion, why not just ban it in your religion like divorce in catholicism?

This way you are not limiting the choices of people who are not part of your religion and your followers are controlled by the religious law and are not allowed abortions.

In summary, why not just ban it for your religion and not try and impose your view on everyone?

This applies to religious opposition of course.

  • Honestly, how many of you ask questions to gain information on here?

I ask in this section because allot of the time it just looks like people are searching for someone to agree with them.

  • A question for Pascal’s wager fans?

Why do you not believe in the Greek parthenon gods? If you believe in them and are wrong, you loose nothing.

If you don’t believe in them and are wrong, you loose everything and rot in the pit of Tartarus.

So why not play it safe and believe?

  • A question to Christians?

About hell, do you think that infinite punishment for a finite crime is just?

I accept that you think that it’s impossible to comprehend god’s plan. I accept that you may think that it’s correct because you think god says so. But what is your personnel opinion?

If you do think it is just, could you give me a reason that is not just "because god says so so it must be right?”

  • Another question to Christians?

I notice that when bible verses are pointed out that are immoral, such as the Israelites being ordered to kill other tribes and keep the virgins for themselves, the classic response is that they are taken out of context.

I would like to ask you what context is there that this behaviour is acceptable and moral?

I realise that not all Christians think that everything god does in the bible is good. This question is directed to those that do.

  • A question to fundamentalist/strict Christians?

If you knew me in real life, would the fact that I’m an atheist prevent you from being friends with me?

I live in the UK and the religious here are very mild and at usually completely tolerant and accepting.

Of course I only have the media and internet to judge the USA, but the image of the religious given out is an intolerant, fire and brimstone and Christian policies being forced onto others.

Is this accurate? Would you be friends with someone like me?

  • A question to evolution disbelievers?

Do you have any reason to disbelieve it other than the bible?

If you do actually have valid evidence, why the hell are you not providing it to the scientific community? You would very likely be awarded a nobel prize and make your idea of god less opposed in one fell swoop.

Why have you not done this?

Is there anyone here who changed from Christianity to another religion?

What were your reasons for the transition?

  • A question to Christians?

Is there any content in the bible that you disagree with? When I say that I mean morally.

Are there any moral teachings in the bible that you disagree with?
