It's kinda silly, but I don't know how to get a folder "iPhoneOS.platform" and other support files in that folder. Please help!

Alright I just bought an iPad 2 and when I plug the charger in, my iPad turns on automatically. Then when I switch it off, there is not light to indicate it is still charging! Is it the way it's supposed to be? I mean when I charge my MacBook, I can know that it is charging by the small light on the power adaptor, but this iPad 2, no! Please help charify me a little bit!
