  • For Religious and Non-religious alike?

Should we not aspire to be good people?

If your god is a just and loving god, then you should strive to be like him.

If he is a just just and loving god, then it was man who said such things as "suffer not a witch to live" and "man should not lay with man as he does with women".

For isn't this directly against his teachings of love and turning the other cheek?

I doubt any loving god cares if two men or two women lay with each other in love.

Basically, I'm asking if any of you think organized religion destroyed the actual teachings of the first ones. (jesus, moses, mohammed)

I think when people began to order it and add their own little bits to it, they messed up the teaching and created the hateful, bigoted views that we all know today.

So cast off mantle of organized religion, and believe in a loving god on your own. If indeed you believe in any god.

And for those of us who are atheist/humanst, we should all try to do good in anything we do.

  • New law allowing warrentless wiretapping?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070918/ap_on_go_ca_st...

Now, I'm not the smartest person in the world, but does this sound an awfully lot like the previous warrentless wiretapping our gov't did?

Only this time, they are trying the legal way to be able to do this instead of just doing it all secret like from Congress.

I have nothing to hide, but Bush's govt has this thing about knowing what everybody is doing all the time. This would be the start of the big brother society. Maybe not now or in the near future, but if it's allowed to go on, it could very well come to that level.

There is fear here. Fear that the terrorists (whoever that may be), are going to blow something else up in America. No doubt they are trying. So let the FBI do their job WITH OVERSIGHT, and relax.

To put things in perspective, you have a better chance of getting hit by a car on the way to school or work than to be killed by a terrorist.

  • Does anybody get the feeling the potential reduction in troops is for another reason?

I just get this feeling that now that Bush has started to agree to pull out to pre-surge levels by summer, that he's getting ready to send those soldiers elsewhere.....

Like Iran. What with all the propaganda closely resembling the same techniques our White House used for justification of the Iraq War.

Hopefully, I'm wrong about this, but what do you all think?

  • How come when I walk, my shoe squeeks?

When I bought them, neither squeeked. But now, when I walk, my right shoe squeeks when I put weight on the heel of my shoe.

But if I walk toe-heel instead of heel-toe, it doesn't squeek.

Can anybody tell me what is causing this and if there is anyway to fix it myself?

  • Taxation on a souvenir?

    http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-bondsball...

Bond's 756th homerun ball.......The guy that caught has been told by a couple of people that he would be taxed just for holding onto it.

How is this legal? Shouldn't he be taxed when he sold the ball, as income tax I suppose, rather than being taxed just for holding on to it?

  • Zangetsu is Ichigo's Uncle?

I've heard talk that Ichigo, at first, thinks that Zangetsu is Ichigo's Uncle Kitsuki.

Where is this found out at? I've seen up to ep.77 with translations and I don't recall anywhere that this is mentioned.

Could it be a wrong translation perhaps?

  • A reason why gay marriage should be allowed?

Attention getting yes? lol The actual question is What do you think about this article.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/po/togetherinlifeapartinil...

A gay man in a commited relationship for 25 years has a stroke and can't care for himself. Since they would be married if it were legal, but aren't married or have rights as such; the man's parents took control of caring for him and have vowed not to let their son see his, for all intents and purposes, husband.

The stroked man's mother has been noted as saying that she would rather her son never recover than to go back to having a relationship with another man. Yep, this kind of religious people ought to be smacked repeatedly.

What are your thoughts about the article?

  • Am I one of the few people here who took martial arts for self defense?

And not for sport fighting or trophies? I'm not talking about MMA, because its mostly a sport that has self defense applications. Instead of the reverse.

I hear a couple people regard martial arts as only a sport. Is this the new frame of mind the younger martial artists are taking?

Or is my thinking just backwards in that martial arts is supposed to be mainly for self defense and not sport?

  • Has anyone noticed more news articles about Iran lately?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070726/ts_nm/iraq_ira...

Have you? I have, and it sort of scares me. Because this what happened right before Iraq.

Iran consists mainly of one branch of Islam, and Saudi Arabia consists mainly of the other branch. Sunni and Shi'ite, I can't remember which at the moment. But it is pretty much common knowledge these two sects of Islam don't get along too well, atleast in recent years.

Why would Iran train members of the other sect? When down the road, they could turn on them? Now, I'm not saying that Iran couldn't be helping to train some of these people, but because of all the lies Bush and Cheney have told, it's hard to believe anything they say. Considering they also like to keep their sources to themselves as well.

As with the news link, why couldn't the fighters be getting better on their own? It only stands to reason that with practice comes better abilities....

  • Who is really running this country....?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070719/ap_on_re_us/te...

Now, I'm not saying that Iran is a peace loving or even fair country. But as long as Iran keeps its nuclear program transparent enough for the IAEA, I see no problem in them having a nuclear energy problem.

Why is AIPAC and Israel feel the need to interfere with American politics?

  • Hell on Earth?

So, here's my theory. We've all heard about the war in heaven with Lucifer and his 1/3 against God and his 2/3. That Lucifer's side lost and was kicked out of heaven.

My theory is that the original people that populate earth were Lucifer and his fallen angels. That Hell is really Earth.

For the sake of arguement, just assume that God and Lucifer exist. I don't really believe either way, but its fun to theorize.

So what do you think? Agree, disagree, want to go more in depth with it?

  • Why isn't there a Book of Jesus?

Why isn't there a book of Jesus in the bible? Surely he could have written something in his own hand to pass on to future generations.

I don't know about you, but if I was Jesus, I would have written something for the religion I was talking about.

  • Is it possible to blaspheme against a god(any god) that you don't believe in?

And another question. Taking the lord's name in vain.

What does "in vain" mean? To my thinking, if somebody says "god ...... it", they are asking their god to d*** whatever "it" is.

Now, if they were to say "god be d......" Then that would constitute "in vain" to me. What are your thoughts about it?

This is a serious question, I'm not baiting christians or whatever you want to call it.

  • Christianity and Mithraism?

    http://www.meta-religion.com/World_Religions/Ancie...

    http://www.meta-religion.com/World_Religions/Ancie... Part one there.

What say all of you? (I'm bored and wish to hear answers)

Christianity borrows much from other religions, so is it an original religion?

When Constantine converted to Christianity from Mithraism, the early christians persecuted the mithraic followers and burned their grottos down and the such.

  • Where did Tae Kwon Do originate?

I'm not stupid, so don't just say Korea. What I mean is, what type of enviroment was TKD created in? Jungle, forests, urban?

I've read up on this myself about the style I take, Moo Duk Kwan.

Hwang Ki practiced MDK in train yards, where he worked. So naturally, this is going to influence what techniques you use. The narrowness of the area that people could move was limited and the ground was mostly gravel.

I'm not sure how TKD step from a right front stance to a left..etc But MDK's is a half moon step that isn't picked up very far off the ground, due to the shifty footing of the gravel.
