  • Should I quote a prospective employer's website?

I have spent a lot of time perfecting my resume and cover letter to get a job. It's very difficult to get a job as an external candidate as an R.T.(R) in my area, so it's vital that my resume and cover letter stands out and grabs HR's attention.

My school's career services advisor advised that it is good to show the employer that you have done your research and are truly interested in working for that particular facility.

So is it a good idea for me to quote from the research I've done, like from the website? If so, should I actually put in quotation marks or just ease it into my resume/cover letter without?

I feel the quotation marks make it look tacky, but I also feel like if I leave quotation marks out that it looks like I'm stealing their words to make myself look better when all I want to do is show them that I am doing my research and truly am committed to adhering to their goals in health care.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Clarification on terms regarding occupation in CT/RT?

I am planning to move to Los Angeles and a lot of Rad Tech and CT jobs in Cali require at least 1 year experience. I was just wondering, does clinical experience count or does it absolutely have to be experience as a hired employee? TIA.

  • Break down the word Atelectasis?

I'm taking a pathology class right now and I usually learn medical terms based on breaking them down and understanding the prefixes and suffixes. I'm having a hard time with atelectasis (partial or complete collapse of the lung(s)). I can't seem to remember it because I don't know how to break it down.

A prefix of "a" usually means "without" but I don't know how to break down the rest of the word "telectasis" to Google for the meaning.

Anybody know how to break this down and/or how to remember that this is a pathology for a collapsed lung?

  • Will priority mail (USPS) w/ delivery confirmation always tell you if a package has been delivered?

Sometimes when I receive packages the USPS tracking updates a little but doesn't always update completely (to say it has been delivered). Sometimes though, it will say it has been delivered when it has been delivered. The tracking system, in my experiences, is not always updated properly.

I sent a package out to a buyer of mine on the 13th and to this day (now it is the 30th) it still hasn't stated it is delivered or not. Is it lost because the tracking just says "Arrival at Post Office" and "Expected Delivery By:

    August 15, 2012

    Delivery Confirmation™"

I can't tell if my buyer is lying and saying he never received it (he was rude from the start when I asked him on the 15th if he got it and told me to track it myself and don't bother him again) or if he actually hasn't received it. He demanded a refund (Amazon gave me till Sep. 4th to settle this out though so time's still not up yet) on the 25th and I am not until either the 4th or until I find out where the package is.

I've contacted USPS already multiple times with response and action but no follow-up from two different people. They said they'd contact the supervisor at the location that the package was last scanned to which is also the intended destination but I have yet to hear from the supervisor. I also went online and submitted my case. I keep calling and I keep getting told they'll call me back to update me the following evening or the next day but they never do.

Sorry for the long story, so my question basically is does the tracking system always tell you when something has been delivered when it actually has been delivered? I don't know if I should believe the buyer and I don't know why USPS won't give me a status update and just keeps telling me they will investigate it but never call me back as they promised.

  • Fares better or Fairs better?

I usually do pretty well with grammar, but this one has me stumped. I know how to use fair and fare and the most common way, but which is used in a sentence like this:

"Try the other cable, see if that fairs better with your device."

"Try the other cable, see if that fares better with your device."

  • Will taking vitamins/supplements to increase my metabolism help me lose weight?

I did some research and I suspect I have slower metabolism than "normal." I exercise at least 3-5 times a week, but this past quarter bc of school I can only squeeze in 2 days tops a week.

Basically, my pants are getting tight again. They were loose/comfortable before this quarter started since I had been exercising frequently from last year up until January of this year. It seems without much exercise, even with eating healthy and eating more smaller meals a day rather than less large meals, I am gaining the weight back. I was curious to see if taking complex-B, B12, and replacing my morning coffee with green tea will actually help my metabolism so that I don't just put on weight from eating the smallest things and not being able to exercise as much as before.

By the way, I know all the things to know about fat burning exercises and how to eat healthy and all that so I don't really need advice on that, I just really need to know if taking the right vitamins and supplements will help increase my metabolism and help me avoid putting on the weight when at this time in my life I can only put in a little bit of exercise. Thanks in advance!

  • What is the purpose of graphing the inverse of a set of numbers gathered from a lab?

I'm trying to write my lab report, then I realize I don't know why we made two graphs. I suppose the actual experiment details are irrelevant, I just figure I'd ask this as a general question because I'm not sure what the second graph is demonstrating.

So we have a set of numbers that we plotted, distance in relation to exposure rate. Exposure rate is mR/mAs, so we graph what happens to the exposure rate as the distance increases in constant increments. This demonstrates the inverse square law, as distance increases the exposure rate (intensity of the beam) decreases.

The second graph, we graph the distance in relation to 1/sq. root of mR/mAs. This is what I'm not understanding is being demonstrated. Why are we graphing the inverse and sq. root of the exposure rate? What is that supposed to demonstrate?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Should I upgrade my wireless router?

I have internet that "goes up to" 30 mbps, I've had it for over half a year now and have never seen it go past 20-22 mbps. Is that normal? If it can get up to 30, shouldn't I be able to get closer to 30? It rarely gets up to 20+, it is usually around 17-19 mbps. I'm asking if I should upgrade my wireless router because I'm paying $60 a month for my internet and it doesn't give me what I'm paying for's worth in my opinion.

I would rather just downgrade my package to the "up to 15 mbps" package and pay less then if I can't even get 20+ most of the time. But then I'm thinking is it my wireless router? My current router I go on sale at Walmart, it's a white netgear (last year's model I think) for either $30 or $40, so it's a cheaper model. I don't think it's a G, I believe I purposely bought an N model for whatever reason I can't remember. It's not an N+ though. Should I upgrade to one of the higher end models, will that help me get at least 20-25 mbps instead of always being just under 20 mbps when I'm paying so much money for the internet? I have RoadRunner by the way.

  • Traffic Ticket: Financial Responsibility Proof?

The officer checked off "no" on my ticket for financially responsibility proof, does that mean he is saying I didn't show proof of insurance? Will I get fined more because of that?

I showed him my proof of insurance, he took it an returned it to me without saying anything about it. Why would he check it off as "no?" The policy has my parents' name on it but not mine, but I am listed as an authorized driver for the vehicle I was driving. I'm confused and I'm worried I'll have to go to court to straighten it out that I am covered because that's my second day of school which I don't want to miss...

  • Will my Federal Pell Grant be affected if I cannot maintain full-time?

I used to always go full-time (at least 12 credits) per quarter, but last quarter I dropped a class that was worth 5 credit hours. It took me down to 8, but my financial aid officer said it won't affect me financially. I always thought that I had to have 12 credit hours at least or I won't get the full amount or I'll be penalized (I receive $1850 a quarter).

Since I got into my Radiology program this year, I just want to focus on Radiology and only that, but this quarter I will only have 10 credit hours total. I don't want to take any electives or any other class because I want to stay focused only on Radiology classes, but I don't know if I will not be receiving the full $1850 for this upcoming quarter. Does anyone happen to know if I will receive less or will I still get $1850 this quarter based on that I am planning to do part-time and not full-time this quarter?
