I am, by no means, a person who knows fashion. But I like wearing nice hats. I wear a suit fairly often and up to now I have always avoided wearing a hat with it because I did not know if it was acceptable. So my question is as follows:

Would it be considered bad fashion to wear a dark colored brimmed hat (such as a trilby or fedora) with a dark colored suit?

I know that it is considered old fashioned and that, recently, a lot of the punk styles use those hats, so I don't know if I would be considered "punkish" or old fashioned for wearing such a hat with my suit. Would I? Or would those of you who know men's fashion think that a young professional is such attire could make it look good? I'm not trying to make any sort of fashion statement or anything of the like.

If trilbies and fedoras would not look good with a suit, what would?
