  • How would you handle this?

My son and daughter-in-law live in my home. I currently reside out of state for my career. They are young and want to save money to buy a home, so I offered to let them live in my house, rent free, for 2 years. The arrangement was verbal - they can live there rent free, but they are to pay their own utilities and maintain the house. We have a couple of projects that need to be completed, I pay for materials and they are supposed to complete the work. I stay there when I visit, usually every couple of weeks. They have been there for 8 months. My d-i-l is actually pretty good about keeping up with the house and yard. The house is clean, the grass is cut, the snow is shovelled. However, the drywall project my son was to complete hasn't been done. To top it off, I've been informed by the d-i-l that she needs to be asked if it's okay for me to visit. I have no problem letting her know I'll be home. But asking permission? What do you think?

  • My alcoholic brother lives with our mom and refuses to pay rent. Mom wants me to make mortgage payment?

My 40 year old brother lives with our mom. He's an alcoholic. He works, makes 2x what mom makes. Won't pay her rent. Now she wants me to help her make the mortgage payments. She claims I have to or I'm not honoring my parents. My husband and I are Christians and want to do the right thing. We have no problem taking care of her, if she wasn't able to support herself. But we don't feel that we should have to be responsible for her mortgage payments if my brother is living there and refuses to pay anything. Isn't this, in effect, enabling him to continue his irresponsibility? Our concern is that, as Christians, we're doing the right thing. She lives in a $300,000 home on a golf course and refuses to sell or downsize. She also won't make the brother move out. He's currently in rehab and she's paying for that. He has 2 kids, 5 and 14. The 14 y.o. lives with his ex. The 5 y.o. is with grandparents and foster care is becoming more of a reality. How responsible should we be?

  • My daughter-in-law hates me and won't let me see my grandson.?

My son and daughter-in-law have been married 5 years. When they were dating, I was in college. I didn't have much time to get to know her then. She was home schooled and never had another bf then my son. She said she doesn't like me because I act like a gf, not a mom. I don't know what this means. My son says he doesn't think I do. But still, I can't see my 6 mo. old grandson. It's not all her fault, my son isn't defending me to her. I don't want them to fight, but I'm hurt by her rejection. No attempt on my part works with her. She always finds some way to make it seem like I'm a horrible person. She loves my son, she's nice to everyone else but me. I tried talking to her, but she says its too late now. Anyone else experienced this? Anyone turned this around and had a good relationship come out of it? Should I give up?

  • When does a woman stop looking sexy?

This is a question for men. Do you think women over 40 are sexy? If so, what is it about them that you find sexy? Is it looking like she's still in her 20's? Is it looking like she's comfortable with who she is? What is it?

  • Why doesn't someone start putting ketchup in those little cups like they use for bbq sauce?

It's impossible to eat fries in the car and put ketchup on them when it's in those stupid little packets. Is there some mystic reason why it can't be packaged in a cup?
