I need to know the color of paint to use for the base layer and the color to use to get the wood grain look. I painted a medal door in 1979 or 1980 to look like wood, but my memory does not go back that far. I remember that it took two different colors.

I have a very large mirror frame (4feet by 6 feet) that I want to paint. It is very curly que with mirror showing in a lot of different places. It would take forever to tape to keep from getting paint on the mirror. The frame is smooth. The frame is gold in color and I want to change it to a brown tone.

Please list the steps I need to take and the type of paint I need to get.

I have tried stain, will not dry. I have tried oils, like for painting a picture-takes too much. Please list the type of paint, and the steps I will have to take to change the color.

It leaks around the base. I have replaced the wax ring and it still leaks when I flush it.
