Sick of Bushes and Clintons?
Now that Jeb Bush is most likely the front GOP runner and Hillary for the Dems should we vote for either one? I'm personally sick of both families and its starting to feel like an American version of a monarchy. What does everyone else think?
6 AnswersPolitics6 years agoCat losing leg fur?
I have a four year old Siamese named Duchess who is a rescue pet. She managed to escape a brutal Siamese breeder and was found by a no kill shelter where ultimately made her part of my home and she was about 8 months old when I got her. I have another cat in the apartment, a beautiful Bombay and the two cats get along famously. They sleep, eat, play and groom one another frequently. No new changes have occurred in the household w respect to say her diet or outside exposure, but I can't figure out why she's losing her hair on her legs. This started around four months ago and I'm at a total loss on how to stop it. Can anyone help?
2 AnswersCats6 years agoStepdad victim of prime bank scam but in denial, how can I convince him?
I've shown him the proof it from FBI, SEC and Dept. of Treasury telling him the evidence of the exact same scam he got involved in. He believes he "sold" his business to these fraudsters who had him sign an illegal NDA not to tell any US Govt. officials for up to 5 years, so he's been very tight lipped about the details. He's clearly been had by these fraudsters, every single "reason" they've had for why payment has been delayed they have used on the federal sites pointed out as part of the scam. He refuses to believe and yet is running out of income to support himself financially for much longer. It may come to me having him move in because he and my mom can no longer support themselves, yet they refuse even with proof to believe its a scam. What can I possibly do to convince them of the truth?

1 AnswerSecurity6 years agoWhy do dictators (right and left) share the same behavioral traits that make them dictators?
I'm working on a research paper regarding control behavior. I'm using examples from both political spheres so this is not a politically central question. However, I am attempting to answer how it is that extremes from both views end up sharing the same mechanisms of control? (i.e. Mao, Jonestown vs. Hitler, Stalin, etc.) All of these share certain traits and all are cases in extremes. Please don't leave comments about the current US President on here or other paranoid delusions as I will delete it.
5 AnswersPolitics7 years agoDuring active combat are medics allowed to assist and possible leave w/another regiment w/out their CO ok?
I'm conducting research on WWII and have been seeing conflicting information. So really at this point since I'm writing a historical novel, I'll take info from any American wars since WWII. My question is for a medic who is a main character in my story, who was a real life person, received commendations for assisting wounded from other units during the Battle of the Bulge, however he had not received any authorization from his CO to leave his team with these other groups.
Is this something that can happen today during ACTIVE combat only and not an issue or is it something serious enough that they would be subject to court marital?
Please help anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
3 AnswersMilitary7 years agoJonestown: For those survivors who had involvement in operations, should they be charged with murder/asst. suicide?
There were a few survivors who had involvement in the overall operations of the organization and granted while an argument can be made that they were just as brainwashed as those who died, should they nonetheless should have been held liable for their action/inaction for the tragic events that transpired that day?
I have no opinion either way, I'm looking to do a profile on Jonestown for a class and I wanted to outline a potential debate topic and wanted to open it up to public debate first to see if made for intriguing discussion.
Thanks for serious and non-sarcastic answers.
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics7 years agoDo you think employers using personality tests PRIOR to an initial interview is discriminatory?
Especially considering they use the results of that test to determine whether or not to even proceed with an initial interview. So they are assessing you based on a personality assessment instead of your actual work history. Do you find that this is discriminatory?
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics7 years agoAre you in favor of or against Smartguns which only fire when used by the owner?
Recently the NRA has tried fighting the sale of these personalized firearms. Their biggest issue with is almost certainly the shift of significant profit from gun show sellers as the marketplace today. Supporters are in favor citing the personalized nature of the gun ensures safety thus saving lives.
10 AnswersLaw & Ethics7 years agoHumanitarian solutions in the 21st Century ? N. Korea, Syria, Burmese, etc.?
Since the horrendous atrocities in WWII, many nations have avowed "never again" to let such genocide occur. Yet time and again in the 70+ years we have shown the international community only investigates, sends in peacekeepers without authority and broadcasts their suffering worldwide. There are few aid working groups that go into these areas of need to assist the suffering but the scale is simply not big enough to make any real impact.
With such a large international community, (not specific to only US interests here) why have other nations (largely) chosen not to intervene?
2 AnswersPolitics7 years agoParents: If you are of financial means to overly spoil a child, do you why or why not?
I'm reviewing behaviors of varying parenting styles. I'm looking a variety of parenting patterns focusing from the extreme end of poverty to the 1% of the wealthy. For the upper middle class or parents of means, do you spoil your children with money and if so why? If you are a wealthy parent who spoils their children did you come from an upbringing of money or were you self made?
Thanks for any/all responses as this is assisting in my field work for school.
3 AnswersParenting7 years agoShould teachers who witness bullying in their classrooms be held accountable?
When there are incidents of children who later commit suicide, attempt suicide or run away due to the treatment they receive from bullies both at school and online. If a teacher witnesses this bullying in their classroom and fails to bring it to the attention of their school administration and both the bully and the victim's parents, should they be held liable either in a civil case for damages or perhaps should we look at putting a criminal statute on the books? Curious what any/all thoughts are.
Thanks!
2 AnswersTeaching7 years agoWhy were ( and still are ) returning Vietnam vets treated so horribly?
Even today vets from this war are not receiving the care and treatment they so rightfully deserved. They were also sent there by a draft and had no choice. These soldiers certainly didn't ask for that war they were ordered to. With that in mind why were they spit on, assaulted, blamed, belittled, denied recognition for the sacrifices they and their families have made and lastly are still having to battle for years with the federal govt, that sent them there in order to receive medical care and benefits. Any and all contributions are welcome but please no satire.
10 AnswersMilitary7 years agoShould military drone (or cyber) operators be awarded for their role in war with a medal equal to that of the Medal of Honor or any other?
This week's Economist magazine had an insightful article about the debate over whether or not cyber operators in the military should receive medals and if so, what type of medals those should be and what rank they should hold. Should they be awarded with medals either equivalent to the Medal of Honor only designated by another name, or should they be awarded that medal itself?
The heart of the issue was that these medals were given when ground combat was the primary method/means during wartime. Now that we are moving into a highly technical and increasing cyber operations, some argue that they deserve no medal at all. Others disagree and say that they should be awarded the recognition for the role played.
What are everyone's thoughts? I'm curious on the subject.
Thanks!
