I had my baby in January, 7 weeks early. She spent 17 days in the NICU, but everything is great! She's 9 months now and crawling around like a mad woman! LOL We named her Kya Leigh and she's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!. Every day she's doing something different, it's amazing! My husband and I are so happy. Our little family is perfect. She'll be the only one we have, as I had complications with the pregnancy and birth, but we are so happy to finally have our family complete!

  • Should we go for this chance?

My aunt and uncle are giving my husband and I the chance to buy their house through a land contract. We both work good jobs, but moving there would make us drive farther to work. Me, instead of 30 minutes, it would be an hour, and my husband instead of 15 minutes, it would be an hour and 15 minutes. The house is a really great one, 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, fireplace, 2 car garage plus a machine shed, new hot water heater, furnace, well, and appliances, on a dead end road on 4.5 acres. We have never owned a house before and this would be a huge break for us. What are all of your thoughts? Would you drive over an hour to work just so you can finally own a house? Eventually we could hopefully get new jobs closer to the house. I need some guidance and opinions. Thanks!

  • Root canal on the top front tooth?

About 2 months ago I was cleaning my fridge and chipped my front top tooth. It wasn't that bad, so I was going to wait until I had my next appointment with my dentist. (I am accident prone by nature, so this is nothing compared to some of the things that I have done! LOL) Anyway, about a month ago I stared to have severe pain in that tooth, to the point where I couldn't bite down on anything. So I went in to the dentist, they took some x-rays and he said that it just looked like I cracked my filling, so they were going to just refill the tooth. Well, he gave me some shots of novacaine and came back and was going to start, but I could still feel pain when he touched it, so he gave me another shot, still felt pain, so he gave me another shot. I had about 5 shots and still could feel pain so they took some more xrays to see if they missed something. Didn't see anything different, so he sent me home with some antibiotics because he thought I maybe had an infection. So 2 days after being on the antibiotic my tooth felt better. I had an appointment last week for just my exam and he said that the tooth I was having troubles with was dying, so I'd have to have a root canal.

Now, my question is this...I never had a problem with the shots, they always worked just fine and I never needed more than what was customary for a filling, but after 5 shots I could still feel pain, so does that mean that I am going to feel the pain while he is doing my root canal? Or was it just because there was an infection that I still felt pain? My actual tooth doesn't hurt anymore, but area under my nose where the root is located still hurts. My dentist knows that this is still painful to me, but he doesn't seem to be too worried. Is there a chance that I will feel the root canal procedure? Some advice would be helpful. Thanks for reading!

  • Sinus troubles! Please help!?

I have been sick for almost 2 months now, thanks to my daughter being in daycare and bringing everything home! Anyway, I was sick before Thanksgiving, with the flu, then I had bronchitis, then I felt a little better, then after Thanksgiving I started to get stuffy and thought I was getting a cold. I just got worse and worse until the beginning of December when my head was so stuffed up I couldn't take it anymore and went to the doctor. Found out I had a sinus infection, my first one ever, and was put on antibiotics. I just finished them on Monday, and I'm still stuffed up, although my snot isn't neon yellow like it was before I went into the doctor, it's clear. So i realize I just may have a cold, but really!? I know that antibiotics don't heal the common cold, but could I have caught a cold while on them and that's what is going on now? Could I have allergies? Could it still be the sinus infection? I'm sure a lot of you will tell me to go back to the doctor, but I've been to the doctor so many times this year between me and my daughter, it's ridiculous! So any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • 2 year old having a hard time adjusting to day care...?

I started a job on May 3rd, before that, I stayed home with my 2 year old daughter since she was born. The first week she was fine, she'd get there and run off and start playing, so I thought it was going to be an easy transition. After the first week, things started going down hill. She started crying when we got there and the teachers said that sometimes she got so worked up after I left that she threw up. I feel absolutely terrible! Now she starts to cry in the morning when I put her shoes on because she knows she's going to day care, and she doesn't stop crying from the time I put her shoes on to the time I leave from dropping her off. I don't prolong the goodbye when I drop her off, I tell her she's going to have a fun time at school playing and drawing, kiss her goodbye and leave. I know it's a good day care, nothing bad is happening to her there, so I just don't know what to do. I'm contemplating quitting my new job to stay home with her again. I really don't make that much money, after daycare I make about $140 a week, so even though it's helping us pay off some bills faster, it won't break us if I decide to quit. So, do any of you have an suggestions on how to make this easier, or opinions on if I should quit? I just need some help from moms and dads that have been through this! Thanks!

  • Should I try harder or just let it go?

I was supposed to go to my niece's "special persons" day at her preschool, but I didn't go. I have a hard time being around people due to social anxiety and depression. I realize now that it was stupid not to show up, and I know I hurt my sister-in-law's feelings. I wrote her a long letter opening up to her about my anxiety and depression and apologizing profusely about not showing up. She's the first person that I have opened up to about this. I have got no response from her and it's been a week. Today we had a family gathering and the whole family was there. I went in, hoping that everything would be okay, but I said hi, she said hi, and then we just sat there. So I got up and pretty much tried avoiding her the entire day. But she didn't do anything to talk with me either. Our husbands are brothers so we will eventually have to be around each other. Should I try talking to her about his again or should I just let it go hoping that everything will be okay? I can put on a happy face and pretend that everything is okay, but with my insecurities, inside I feel like I have lost a sister. This is really eating me up and making me more depressed thinking about it all the time. I have a doctor's appointment next week and I plan on talking with him about my anxiety and depression, so I hope to get some help there, but for now I would just like some opinions. Most of the time I feel like if I just ignore a problem it will go away, but I know in my heart that it doesn't work like that when you are an adult. I really have anxiety issues so talking about it will just make it worse, but I know that I probably should clear the air. What should I do? I'm at a loss with myself and just am getting sadder and sadder thinking about this...

  • Need help in trying to find a daycare!?

I just found out yesterday that I will be starting a job on May 3rd. I have been a stay at home mom for my 2 year old daughter since she was born, so I've never had to look for a daycare. May 3rd is only 2 weeks away, so I need to find one before that! Do any of you parents or daycare workers have any pointers for me? What questions do I ask when I'm looking? I would like one that has activities and learning wrapped up with playing at the same time, but nothing too pricey! What is the average price for most daycares? I know it will be different in different places, but I live in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin if that helps. Also, if anyone is from my area (Chippewa Falls or Eau Claire, Wisconsin) and know of any daycares I should stay away from let me know! Or ones that you would recommend! Thanks in advance! :)

  • Did you have problems getting a job after being a stay at home mom?

I have recently started looking for a job after staying home with my daughter for 2 years. I used to be an office assistant/administrative assistant. I know that there are probably thousands of other people looking for jobs because of all the unemployed people, but I've applied for about 5 jobs in the last month and have not gotten one single call for an interview. Have I just been out of the loop for too long? I don't have any money to go back to school because of a recent broken leg/surgery, so we have a lot of medical bills that any extra money is being paid to that, plus credit cards and a car loan; so do I have to just take any job (retail, gas station, general labor) that I see? Did any of you (stay at home moms and dads) have trouble getting back into the workforce in the job you used to do after staying home? I'm getting a little discouraged... :( Please help me with any opinions you can give! Thanks!

  • Belly button poll....?

Do you have a prefence on innies or outies? I, personally, dislike the way outies look. I know you can't help which one you get, but if you got to choose, which would you prefer?

  • I know it's very unlikely, but...?

I was visiting some relatives and as we were unloading my vehicle in the alley behind their house, I slipped on some ice and dislocated my ankle and broke my fibula. So, considering the alley is "city property" and not privately owned, can I sue the city for my medical expenses? I know it's probably far fetched, but the expenses are quite a bit, seeing as the alley was the city's responsibility to salt and keep clean. My aunt told me that quite a few people have complained about the icyness of the alley. So what are your opinions? Is it totally far fetched and I wouldn't win? Thanks in advance!

  • Easy, cheap Valentines Day gift for my husband that I can make?

I am kind of in a tight spot. I broke my leg on the 15th of January, had surgery, and now I'm laid up for the next 5 weeks. I broke my right leg so I can't drive anywhere and we recently moved, so I don't have any friends that can drive me anywhere to buy a Valentines Day gift for my husband. So, I know the easy thing is to just make a card for him, but I want to do something else too. It's hard for me to move around and carry things because of the crutches, so what is something easy that I can make for him? anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • About how to file taxes?

Hi, I was wondering...I usually do our own taxes and we usually file as married, filing jointly. I had a job in 2008, but had a baby, and stayed home with her all this year 2009. So my question is, do I just file him and he has 2 dependents, or would I still file married, filing jointly even though I didn't make any income in 2009? Just tryin to get a jump on things, Thanks!

  • Anybody have an idea of what this could be?

About a week ago, I woke up with some neck pain. I thought maybe I slept wrong. Since then, whenever I look down I get tingling throughout my whole body. I mostly feel it in my arms/hands and hips/upper legs, but I do feel it a little everywhere else. If I don't look down for a long time, when I do I feel it more than what I do if I keep looking up and down. Make sense? I don't get tingling if I move my head any other direction, just if I look down. I'm not sure if I maybe pinched a nerve or something that day when I woke up, or what's going on. How long does it take for a pinched nerve to not tingle anymore? I've woken up before with a sore neck from sleeping wrong, but never this; and the soreness usually went away after a couple days. It's been a week now and I'm starting to get a little freaked out.

I just want to know if anybody else had this happen. I'm just looking for some opinions before I call my doctor. I'm going to give it another week and if it still is happening, I'll call the doctor. Thanks!

  • How did you choose which career path to take?

I'm 25, a stay at home mom of a 20 month old and I'm thinking I want to go to college. I planned on going back to work once my daughter started school, but I don't want to go back to what I was doing before I had her. I was an administrative assistant in a chiropractic office, and although I like being around people, I don't really like interacting with people I don't know. I especially don't like talking to people who are upset over a bill a they got or insurance information. So, how did you figure out what you wanted to go to school for? I'm just so confused because there are just so many option out there but I'm not sure what I will like doing. I don't plan on starting school until next year, so I have some time to think about it, but I'd really like to start planning and thinking about it now so I'm not overwhelmed next year...help please!

  • So what are the rest of us supposed to do to save money?

I've read all the articles and watched all the news reports on how to not spend so much money in tough financial times, for example: buy store name instead of brand name food, buy your clothes from a bargin store like Goodwill and secondhand shops, find online bargins and coupons for things. Well...what if you already do those things and you still need to cut back? I've been buying store name foods for the past couple years, I don't think I've bought any actual clothing from a store that wasn't a bargin store or a garage sale for at least 2 years. My husband and I go to 1 movie a year, for our anniversary. We already have my mom or sister watch our daughter for free when we need to go somewhere.

So...my question is do any of you have any money saving tips for people who hardly go anywhere or do anything in the first place? We already are living paycheck to paycheck and some months we have to skip paying one bill in order to pay another that has already threatened to send us to a collection agency. Most weeks I have to choose between buying diapers and food for our daughter and buying food for ourselves. (which I of course always choose diapers and food for our daughter). We make like $10 too much for WIC. So, tips? Anyone?

  • My daughter is slapping me?

I am so frustrated! My 11 month old daughter has started slapping me in the face when I'm holding her. I know she isn't doing it because she wants to hurt me, she's doing it because she likes the sound it makes. When she has her shirt off she slaps her belly, so I know she only likes the sound. I have said NO in a firm voice, and tell her to give nice touches, but she only laughs at me. At first I had a hard time not smiling because when she smiles or laughs, it's so hard not to smile back at her. But it's starting to get ridiculous. It's not that she really even hurts me, but I don't want her to start slapping other people or her cousins. She really is a sweet girl most of the time and she only slaps me when I'm trying to rock her to sleep for a nap. I have resorted to giving her hand a little slap, but I really don't like to hit her. I've only done it once because she wouldn't stop slapping me. (don't think that I abuse my child please!) I've tried sitting her down for a "time out", but she just crawls over and starts playing with something, so I don't think she is getting the drift of if she slaps, she gets in trouble. Can somebody please give me some advise on how to deal with this? I'm at my wit's end. Thank you in advance.

  • Poll for the guys-what would you want your wife to dress up as?

My husband and I will be married for 5 years coming this March (2009). We are planning on going to the casino and getting a suite with a jacuzzi and everything. We will be spending the whole weekend there and I want to get a sexy outfit to surprise him. I would just like to get a poll from the guys (girls can answer too if they want) as to what you would want your wife to dress up as if she would do that for you. We just had a baby in January, so the bedroom has gotten kind of dusty if you know what I mean! I just want to do something sexy and fun. Please no snide remarks or anything...by the way, I'm 24-I'll be 25 by then, and he's 29. Thanks in advance!

  • Need help with crazy dog?

We have almost 6 year old female German Shepard and we just had a baby in January. Our baby is starting to move around on the floor and our dog "Angel" paces the floor and pounces on things on the floor that aren't really there. She just runs from one room to the other and pounces, then runs to the other room and pounces. I know we should have tried training her before we had the baby, but we thought she would outgrow this in her old age, but she seems to have not. I don't want her pouncing on the baby on accident or running her over. How do we calm Angel down? We've tried almost everything to try to train her...but she is not a very smart dog. We think she was inbred, because she doesn't listen very good and doesn't remember where the door frames are or the furniture is so she hits her head on them a lot! She also tries to plow you over to get outside when you are going towards the door. How can we stop that? Thanks for your help!
