  • Having trouble remembering a movie I saw like the Pacifier.?

I saw a movie on television awhile back that was a lot like "The Pacifier", but it starred a black man who was a convict and was hiding by posing as a babysitter to an upper-middle class family.

I remember one scene in particular, where the teenage daughter, a Goth, was dumped by her boyfriend, a white wannabe-gangster, for a blonde. The babysitter wanted to talk to the boyfriend alone, and they took off in the boyfriend's black Jeep Wrangler. The babysitter drives like crazy, scaring the living daylights out of the boyfriend, before parking the Jeep on active train tracks. He gets out, taking the keys, and convinces the boyfriend to shape up before the oncoming train gets there. Just before it gets to the Jeep, the train was diverted as the whole thing was a setup to scare the boyfriend. The babysitter said something like "You're not from the hood, I'm from the hood, so quit acting like it."

The movie was very funny, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called and searching the internet with quotes and the limited information I have hasn't turned anything up. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • PC or PS3 - NFS Most Wanted 2012?

Hello everyone. I have a question that's been bothering me for awhile. I am about to purchase Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2012, but I can't decide between getting it for the PC or the PS3.

My PC has trouble with certain graphics settings, mainly anti-aliasing. Does the PC version allow you to individually turn up or down graphic settings such as anti-aliasing, shadows, lighting, etcetera, or can you only change it to global settings like High and Low?

Also, how is the keyboard as a controller? Is it easy to use, like in previous Need for Speed games or Driver, or is it more simulation-oriented, like with GT Legends and Colin McRae Rallye?

Lastly, are the addons available to both PC and PS3 customers, or can you only get certain addon cars or features with one or the other?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone for your time and patience.

  • 1080P on 720P television harmful?

I have an interesting issue with a high-definition telivision my wife and I recently purchased. We bought a Dynex HDTV from Best Buy that was supposed to be 720P. For the last couple months that's been fine. However, recently we bought a DVI-to-HDMI adapter for my dekstop and a Sony Playstation III Slim. When we use the Playstation or the computer, the upper right hand corner of the television displays 1080P, not 720P like it used to. The quality looks much better than it did when we had 720P running through the computer and our old blu-ray player (an LG), but I'm worried I'll burn out the television faster than I would using 720P. We also managed to adjust the Playstation to display in 720P, but the quality isn't quite as sharp as when it's in 1080P mode.

    My questions are this:

First, could Best Buy have accidentally given us a 1080P television? We noticed that it was different from the display model we had picked out, such as the hookups and the button placement, the lack of an S-Video plug which the display model had, and two HDMI plugs instead of one. The booklet that came with it is generic, for all Dynex televisions of this type, and doesn't say how to tell the difference.

Secondly, if that's not the case, will continuing to run the television in 1080P display mode ruin it or shorten its' lifespan? I've read on other sites that some televisions will automatically downscale 1080P to 720P to keep that from happening, but I have a friend with a two-year-old Dynex the same size and in 720P, but if you set it to 1080P, it simply won't display.

I would greatly appreciate any answer to this predicament, as I want to get the best picture possible without destroying my new television. Thank you all for your time and patience.

  • Baby Blue Jay Questions?

    Hello -

Recently we found a baby blue jay in my father's shed. It had been there at least one day, because when he opened the shed the next morning, it was sitting in the middle of the floor. We took the bird out in the woods near our house and left it there within sight of the house to see if the parents would come back for it. When they didn't after quite awhile, and it started storming, we took the bird in.

It's been a couple days now, and I've been searching the internet for advice on taking care of the bird. Before everyone starts telling me to turn it loose, I must point out a few facts. First of all, the bird is incapable of sustained flight - it's too young, so just letting it go is not an option. Also, there are no animal rescues in our area beyond the county humane societies, and they won't take birds, so that's out. In addition to this, the DNR in my state have quit releasing licenses to take care of wild animals, so I can't obtain one and I can't give it to someone who has one, because the DNR also isn't issuing renewals. Lastly, the bird was obviously very young because it has warmed up to the family immensly, showing no signs of fear or intent to leave. Our family is very skilled in raising wild animals, including racoons, squirrels, and other birds, but this is our first blue jay.

Where I need help is mainly how to spot the bird's various stages of development. Currently, the bird can fly about three-five feet, and can hop around and perch. It can also sleep on a perch in addition to in a "nest" of rags. The bird eats about every 1-2 hours and is a very healthy eater (we're feeding it the most widely recommended diet of soaked high-protein dry dog food, boiled egg yolk, baby food (fruit mix and cereal), and either canned chicken or tuna mixed with warmed tap water and bird vitamins from our pet store - soon we will add poultry mash as well). We feed it through a large eye dropper, of which it eats about seven-nine full loads of eye dropper mash. It appears to be getting healthier and stronger on this diet, as it has increased in activity and a want to attempt flight and playing more and more often.

At what point is it safe for the bird to start taking in dry food, like unmashed chicken and tuna? We've tried a more thick mash served with a pair of blunt plastic tweezers, but it doesn't seem too interested in that yet. At what point are nuts, such as beech nuts and acors, and bird seed, such as millet or sunflower seeds, okay?

Also, when we first got it, we sprayed it with a bug killer made for birds such as parakeets, cockatiels, and parrots, with no ill effects, but how do we know for sure that it's safe to let him in other parts of the house without fear of lice and mites? We also have two dogs and a parakeet that we don't want getting the bugs, and we can't bring him into a room big enough to fly around in (living room) until we are sure of the bugs being gone. We've already done the test of leaving a piece of white paper underneath the bird while he sleeps, and there were no bugs on it the day after we found him or yesterday, but we would prefer a more conclusive test if there is one. We wan't this bird to be able to fly and exercise more as it gets bigger.

Thank you for your time and patience. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Veterans Paying for Wounds?

I'm curious to know how other people feel about this topic.

I recently received an e-mail from my Service Officer, a retired United States Marine, about President Obama's plan to have United States Veterans pay the Veteran's Administration (VA) back for medical treatment they receive.

The plan wouldn't bill the veteran directly, but would instead bill their private insurance company. In return, the veteran's insurance rates would go up, making them pay for the wounds they received when going into battle for the United States, and, depending upon insurance company, they would have to pay deductibles.

Wasn't the Veteran's Administration formed to take care of these veterans in the first place? If this plan goes through, wouldn't it make more sense for the veterans to just skip over the VA and go straight to a private clinic, since they have to pay their insurance anyway? And what about those veterans who can't afford private insurance, so they only have VA Medical?

I want to know what others think of this, if I'm missing anything, and what the details are. I may be receiving some of these benefits soon,a s I can't afford private insurance and healthcare, and I would like some answers.

  • Javascript Programmer?

    Hi.

I have a question. I would like to know what is the best freeware for programming in Javascript.

I am going to learn Javascript to supplement my programming in Visual Basic and C++, and would like to know a free program to start with, like Bloodshed Dev C++, only for Javascript instead of C++.

I already have a book, so don't bother with telling me what book to order.

I currently have Microsoft Visual Basic Express, but I'm not sure how in-depth it will let you go with Javascript. If everyone says that's the best one, I'll go with it. If not, I would like to know the name of the program I need and a link to download it if possible.

    No free trials, please.

Thank you for your time and patience, and good luck!

  • Computer Synthesizer/Keyboard?

Does anyone know where I can download a free keyboard and/or synthesizer program for my computer, with multiple instruments programmed into it.

I'm after a realistic sound: I want the trumpet to sound like a trumpet, the drums to sound like drums, etc. I also need to play the notes through a standard computer keyboard, not an attachable musical keyboard.

The more instruments, the merrier. Possibly even a program that can have more instruments added into it in the form of patches or addons from the download site as they become available. It's a lot to ask of a free program, but more advanced stuff has been done for free.

Thank you for time and patience, and good luck!

  • Surround Sound Speakers?

I recently received a set of brand new Curtis 5.1 Surround Sound speakers with subwoofer for my computer. I had to buy an audio splitter cable (PC-to-red/white) to get them to work, and they seemed to work fine for about an hour.

After an hour, the left front speaker started buzzing. I tried to ignore it, but the buzzing sound slowly increased, then started making a popping sound. I turned the speakers off, waited five minutes, and turned them back on again. The noise stayed away for about fifteen minutes, then started again. Same thing - a quiet buzzing becoming a loud buzzing, then a popping sound. If I unplugged them for longer, they lasted longer, but never more than about an hour and fifteen minutes, even if they were unplugged overnight.

Also, the buzzing and popping sound occured when there was no sound being played by a game, music, or Windows. I had the computer on a screen saver and left the speakers on to get something to eat, then heard the loud popping sound from another room. Therefore, I don't believe it's related to the games or my software.

If I unplugged the speaker at the subwoofer, the buzzing stopped of course, but resumed as soon as I plugged it back in. When I did this, I also noticed that the back of the subwoofer was very, very warm, which is strange because I have no heat in the computer room and it was only about 55 degrees in there. The speakers and subwoofer have proper ventilation, are on a flat desk (not a carpeted floor, blanket, or anything like that), and are plugged into a surge protector on a regular household outlet (110V AC), just as the instructions said. Everything is also connected properly, as the instructions indicated.

What could be causing this sound? Is it the lack of a sound card (I'm using integrated SoundMAX Digital Audio)? Is the speaker or subwoofer bad?

The sound is great while it works, and it was a gift, so I'd like to keep the speakers if possible. I can't just send them back either (they came from California, and I'm in Michigan, so shipping would be astronomical).

I would appreciate any help anyone would have with this. I thank you for your time and patience, and good luck!

  • Question on Obama's Citizenship?

I brought this question up in an answer I gave someone before the election while I was researching which candidate to vote for.

While going through the personal histories of John McCain and Barack Obama, I discovered that Obama wasn't an American-born citizen, and actually held British citizenship for at least the first ten years of his life.

Article II of the Constitution of the United States states that, in order to be elected president, the candidate must be a natural-born American citizen (born in the United States or one of its territories, with the father also a US Citizen) and has to have been a permanent resident of the United States for at least 14 years (this has kept Governor Schwarzenegger from running for president - he was born in Austria).

Barack Obama was born of a father with British citizenship in Hawaii, and lived much of his younger years in Indonesia, not the United States.

The United States Supreme Court recently refused to review a case brought on by someone in New England (a Democratic stronghold) about this.

Under Article II, Section V of the Constitution of the United States of America, isn't Obama disqualified from being president? After all, he's not a natural-born citizen of the United States, but of England.

  • Flatout Series Question?

I have a couple questions for someone who has played the Flatout Series and knows it well.

What I need to know is if it's possible to roam the track in Flatout Ultimate Carnage, like you could in the original Flatout (I own the original, and I love it), instead of being reset, like in Flatout 2.

I bought Flatout 2, but if you drive off of the main track, your car gets reset, which is very disappointing for me. I would also like to know if there's a mod for Flatout 2 somewhere that will remove this so I can roam around and explore the tracks more (or at least complete awesome wrecks rather than being reset while still in the air). I would need a name for the mod and/or a link.

I thank you for your time and patience, and good luck!

  • RAM Issues with an older Dell Server?

I recently installed a 512 Megabyte PC133 SDRAM chip into my old Dell server, a Poweredge 1400SC. This is the type of RAM that Crucial.com said the computer originally took, and it's the same type of RAM that's in it now. However, when I put the new chip in, alongside the old one, and powered up the computer, I got nothing but a steady beeping from the motherboard, which meant it failed the POST test. I tried starting up the computer with the new RAM only, and with the old RAM and the new RAM in different slot positions, but nothing worked until I put the old RAM only back in, and the computer booted up fine.

I would appreciate any help with why this new RAM chip, which even has the same sticker rating as the old one, won't work in the computer. Both chips are 168-Pin 512 Megabyte PC133 SDRAM. The old chip has an "M" for the manufacturer, while the new one is from the company called Generic.

  • Lyrics for Ryan's Jig?

Does anyone know the lyrics for the song "Ryan's Jig" by the Irish Rovers (or any band, for that matter)? All I have is an instrumental copy, and I can't seem to find the lyrics anywhere. I've searched (mildly) on Google and Yahoo, and came up empty.

It's possible the song is also called "Sean Ryan's Jig," but I'm not sure. The copy I have, by the Irish Rovers, is just called "Ryan's Jig," but "Sean Ryan's Jig" came up far more often in my searches. I couldn't find the lyrics to either one.

  • Older Nintendo or Super Nintendo game?

I've been trying to figure out what the title was of an old Nintendo or Super Nintendo game I liked when I was much younger.

The game involved collecting animals for a zoo or circus, or something like that. The goal was to get as many animals into their cages as possible within a certain time frame. Oftentimes, you had to help the animals get unstuck from certain predicaments so they could make their way to their cage.

I remember one particular level (one of the first levels), where it was in a forest and many of the animals were stuck up in trees and you had to get them down.

I would appreciate any help in finding out what the title of this game was because I can't for the life of me remember.

Thanks for your time and knowledge.

  • Online Gaming Problem?

When I attempted to play a couple of first-person shooter games online (specifically Medal of Honor: Breakthrough and Battlefield 1942) but the multiplayer fails to show any other games currently being hosted online.

I have all of the PC requirements for the game (I have a 3 Gigahertz processor, 256 Megabyte video card, and 512 Megabytes of RAM, plus a hi-speed 500 Megabytes per second internet connection), and the games run fine on single player, so I don't think it's an issue with my hardware.

Is it an error with my version of the game (I tried going to GameSpy, where there were a great many people playing these games)? Is it because of my Firewall (which is set to allow communication by these games)? Or is it just that nobody is playing these anymore?

Basically, wy does the multiplayer screen come up empty, even after hitting refresh and waiting five minutes?

  • Where can I find high-resolution photos of particular Australian performance cars?

I'm working on an automotive program, and am having difficulty finding pictures of the 1990-1997 Ford Falcon XR8 and early 1990s Holden Commodore SS. I would prefer at least 640x480 resolution, and that the cars be clean, completely or nearly stock (no insane aftermarket parts like 25" wheels, 2-foot tall wings, or ground-hugging spoilers).

I've already tried Google, Yahoo, Wikipedia, Autopedia, Autogalerie, and Autotrader Australia (which had lots of very lo-resolution photos).

Feel free to send me photos of your own cars in this resolution or higher.

  • Is it possible to hook up a mouse to a game console for shooting games, in particular the Playstation 2?

When playing shooting games with my friends, such as Medal of Honor: European Assault, or Star Wars Battlefront, I find it extremely difficult, no matter which console I'm using (Playstation 2 and Nintendo GameCube among them) to aim at enemies successfully. It's more a matter of the so-called "spray and pray" method, which generally doesn't work very well.

I would greatly appreciate a good answer to this subject, as it would improve my gaming ability immeasurably (I'm still the king of PC shooters, at least among my friends, because I have access to a mouse).
