I'm a good humored, well educated, happily single U.S. Army veteran who has decided to return to the Catholic church, regularly attending Sunday mass after not doing so for many years. I was,and still am,a Pentecostal Christian who has spent many years attending different Protestant churches, only to find that,Bible and non-Bible doctrine wise, they're not as sound as the Catholic church. Since I've returned to the Catholic church, consider me a Catholic Charismatic. I'm a cashier for a local supermarket.I'm also a member of Weight Watchers & the National Geographic Society. My favorite Christian way to pray is the Rosary. My favorite excersize is outdoor walking, which I do a couple of times a week at a local park near my house. My favorite hobby is reading, especially the Bible, and my favorite cable TV networks are the History Channel,History Channel International, and the National Geographic Channel. My favorite cartoon characters are Peanuts, the Muppets, and VeggieTales.
Turkey residents:Your opinion about ISIS declaration about being a caliphate? You all had the Ottoman Empire.?
Some say that the Ottoman Empire was the last Islamic empire and caliphate. You all had that for 500 years, until World War 1.What do you all think about ISIS attempt to create a caliphate?Do you think that what they're doing will last at all?How did the Ottoman Empire last 500 years?
2 AnswersHistory7 years agoHow would a terrorist organization be successful in establishing a worldwide caliphate?
Regarding the ISIS terrorists in Iraq and Syria and what they're doing in both countries right now,on different news channels and programs,I've heard the expression "worldwide caliphate" used, but,no one has bothered to mention what a caliphate is,or,how a worldwide one could be established.
Not that I'm terrified of it happening, but,if possible,I'd like North African and Middle East residents to answer this question, especially Muslims,Jews, and Christians.By the way,I'm of the opinion that, try as hard as they might, that they won't be able to conquer Baghdad.
3 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agoWhat exactly is going on with a big surge in illegal child immigrants crossing our southern borders? Is there something criminal about this?
Why the sudden surge?I prefer answers from Texas,Arizona, and California residents please, since those are the states most affected by this big and sudden surge, also from New Mexico residents as well.Isn't this very unusual?I'm a NYS resident. Here in the Northeast,we're not expecting border surges of any kind.
In my opinion, there's something very suspicious about this whole thing.
7 AnswersImmigration7 years agoExactly what's going on with Russia & the Ukraine right now?
Will someone please explain? It seems to be very confusing. Is the Obama Administration doing things to make the situation worse? It seems that way!I believe that Putin is a much better more experienced leader than Obama, but, that's besides the point.
Why don't we just stay out of that situation & let Russia & the Ukraine work things out on their own?
4 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agoIn western Christian weddings, what was used for rings before gold for men and platinum for women?
Who started the use of gold rings for men and platinum rings for women with diamonds used for womens' rings?
Also, the same for womens' engagement rings?Any wedding planners or jewelers out there who can answer both questions?
Good!
1 AnswerHistory7 years agoSeahawks season ticket holders:How did you all become the loudest fans in the NFL?
So much so,that you're world record holders according to the Guinness Book of World Records. How did that get started and when? From what I've seen on TV,it seems like you're all among the most colorful and creative.I think that's great.
I'm a NY Seahawks fan whose glad they're playing in our Super Bowl and I not only hope they win, but,I believe that they'll win.
They've got a lot of fans in NY.We're all rooting for them and believe that they'll win.Seahawks rock!
1 AnswerFootball (American)7 years agoSeattle residents & Seahawks fans:What is the best time of year to visit your city?
I'm a NY Seahawks fan whose glad they're in our Super Bowl but can't afford to go see them,so,I'll be watching the Super Bowl on TV.
I'd like to go to Seattle one day,not only to visit anything worthwhile there, like the Space Needle, but, also to see them play.
What's the best time of year?
4 AnswersSeattle7 years agoIs there some sort of leadership & power vacuum in this country now like there's never been before?
It certainly seems to be that way, especially with the Obama Administration. Why do they seem to be so secretive and indecisive and so slow to make decisions about a lot of things, like Operation Fast and Furious and the Benghazi embassy attack of Sept.11,2012?
Now New Jersey's Gov.Christie, for example,in comparison to the Obama Administration, was quick to apologize and act on the so called George Washington Bridge traffic jam "scandal." He did something Obama should do to some people in his administration but won't - he swiftly fired people who look like they deserve to be fired for what they did.
It's terrible for us to have a leadership & power vacuum, but,it seems like we've got one.
4 AnswersGovernment7 years agoBroncos fans:During today's playoff game with the Chargers, why were there so many empty seats?
I was watching the game on TV while working out at the local Planet Fitness gym, and, was surprised to see how many seats were empty.Did the Broncos barely sell enough seats so the game wouldn't be blacked out in Denver?Have the other NFL teams that made the playoffs had the same problem?
3 AnswersFootball (American)7 years agoToronto residents:How are you all dealing with having such a controversial mayor like Rob Ford?
Do you think he should resign, especially to deal with drug addiction?Your city council stripped him of some of his mayoral duties according to some U.S. news programs.
4 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agoWhy are so many Americans losing their health insurance plans due to the Affordable Health Care Act/Obamacare?
Is there serious corruption in the health insurance industry?
Would that have something to do with it?
Why would so many health care professionals like doctors and dentists have problems with the Affordable Health Care Act/Obamacare?
By the way, I'm keeping my employer based plan. They're not changing it, and, it's through my union. No one else in my store is changing theirs, either.
10 AnswersInsurance8 years agoDoes anyone feel that the government shutdown & impasse is creating a power vacuum in D.C.?
This is something that no mainstream media news outlet is addressing, nor, does it seem to get addressed on the internet. In my opinion, it certainly seems that way.
Look at the weird things that have filled the vacuum since the shutdown started, the weirdest being the unidentified man who set himself on fire on the National Mall park grounds. That was even weirder than the Connecticut woman who drove into a White House security barrier, then leading the D.C. police on a high speed chase to the Hart Senate building, where she got out of her car and ran from the police instead of surrendering to them before she was shot and killed.
She wasn't protesting anything, but claimed that Obama was communicating with her.
As for the unidentified man who set himself on fire, he died from his serious burn injuries after he was airlifted to a hospital, but, it's unknown now if he set himself on fire as a form of protesting anything or if he did it for the sake of doing it. There's an ongoing investigation.
Setting oneself on fire has been used as a form of protest and is also a part of Buddhist and Hindu philosophy, according to some internet research I've done in the last couple of days.
Protestors have recently done it in Bulgaria and in the Arab countries, but, the last time an American protestor did it was in 1970.
I don't know about you all, but, if setting oneself on fire to protest anything in this country is something that will start happening more often if things get more out of control than what they are now, it will be a complete shock to most of us since it hasn't happened since 1970.
The 1970 protestor did it to protest the Vietnam War on a college campus in San Diego.
I'm not looking forward to it. It will show how desparate some things and people in the U.S. have
become.
