Late last summer we bought a flowering crabapple tree (balled & burlapped and kept in the ground at the nursery) from a local nursery. We immediately planted it on the southwest side of our home. We dug the hole 3x as big as the tree roots and kept the tree watered and mulched. It looked great for the rest of summer and fall.

We had a horrible winter. It was very cold (though probably only -5 F at the coldest and this tree is hardy to -25 F) and we got a LOT of snow (4-5') and ice (none of our trees lost branches). Then in February it was very warm in the 60s for a few weeks. Well so in March my Crabapple tree is already budding and getting ready to flower. In late April when it had just started flowering we got a very late, very light frost.

After the frost all of the flowers, leaves, etc. fell off of the tree. It has been a month since then and there are no signs of growth. Is my tree dead? Is there anything I can do or should I cash in on my 1 year health guarantee?

There is a cat that has been hanging around my house (I live in a subdivision). Yesterday I was headed back to the house after a long walk with the dog and the cat kept meowing and approaching us. So after I put my dog back in the house I went out and called the cat to me.

The cat was very affectionate! She came right up to me and let me pet her, rolled around on the ground, and let me pick her up.

The cat is very clean and NOT thin (she is actually a little chubby). Her eyes are bright and even her ears looked clean.

These things make me think this is someone's cat who they keep outdoors. However:

It was about 10 degrees yesterday when I was walking and has been for a week. There is 4" of snow on the ground- who would leave their cat out so long? (she is always out in the field by my house even in the evenings)

I suspect that she might be pregnant because she is a bit chubby and extremely affectionate. (or could it be worms?)

I wanted to test to see if she was starving so I offered her a bit of canned cat food and she scarfed it down in 2 bites.

She is always hunting mice in the field next door- would a well-fed housecat do this just for fun?

If she is a stray and is pregnant I'd like to help her out or at least get her spayed. Could I write a note and attach it to a collar that says "Does anyone own me?" We have been wanting a second cat- I have an extremely cat friendly cat who is 9 years old and a cat friendly dog. Advice?

My boyfriend and I want to get a dog but can't agree on what kind.

He wants a big dog he can train to do advanced obedience and take fishing.

I want a smaller dog that won't need as much exercise and won't get really bored if it isn't constantly doing a job. (And this is going to be an indoor dog! Why get a dog if you just leave it outside away from you all the time?)

We live in a suburban house with a medium sized yard (which we plan on getting fenced) and a block away from a huge park. We have 1 cat and will someday have children so the dog has to be tolerant of young ones. We both work during the day so we'll be away from home about 8 hours daily.

Finally, he wants a purebred but I want to adopt/rescue a dog. Any advice is appreciated!

Okay, I have two questions!

1) If Sylar killed Claire and gained her ability and thats why he didn't die when stabbed by Hiro, why was she still alive? What did I miss!? Did he kill her, get her ability, and put her back together because he felt bad?!

2) So that future Peter P. never met Claire and never got her ability, so thats how he can have a scar. Guess I figured that one out myself.

3)Theories on Molly's (who has the power to defeat Sylar) power?

Man, this show really brings out the nerd in me! I love it though.

I guess I have a faint idea, but I want to have some trustworthy sources instead of ideas out of my head. So, anything pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated. Journal articles would be great!

I'm a junior in biological engineering. I really love my biology classes and I loved my math and basic science, but I'm just not sure I'm aiming at a career I really want. I also want to stick around in a kind of small town and not have to move to the east or west coast to get a job. I was going to go to grad school and have a job doing research, but this really is starting to sound less and less like something I really want to do.

What should I do? What are some semi-related jobs? I'm really NOT concerned about making a lot of money. Also, I'm really shy so a people-oriented career could be bad.

I was wondering if anyone could list for me who wrote the originals of all the [cover] songs on Emotive. I know elvis costello, john lennon, and one is an apc cover of apc.. OK just list them people so I can quit wondering and get back to studying. thanks loads.

I was supposed to write a particular part and I did but the person who was supposed to do the graphs didn't and just wrote about graphs and did part of my part as well. Noone has done the third part. The lab is only worth 15 points. Should I go back and write the third part, and/or attempt to make the graphs (you need a program i don't have), or just hope that the TAs give us a good grade since it is only a few points and not my fault!
