  • How intelligent are rats?

I have recently been given a tame rat, she is not too bad for being picked up and doesn't bite as long as you havn't been handling meat.

I work with birds of prey and I am starting doing educational visits to kids parties with my owl, I am already set up with a company that organise witch and wizard themed chidrens events and was thinking about using the rat for these parties (obviously not alongside the owl or we will be a rat short).

What I am wondering is how intelligent rats are, can you teach them simple commands or even just to respond to thier name.

I will be using her in an educational sense so will be showing what they would do naturally.

  • Lost Falcon in Doncaster.?

My partner flys falcons on a landfill site in Carr croft / Armthorpe near Doncaster for pest controll. This Afternoon my Saker Falcon went missing and was mobbed by crows which scared him half to death. We found his radio tracking gear, it looks like it got pulled off during the fight, and a lot of crow feathers. He's more than likley sat in a tree somewhere sulking or full of crow. But if you do happen to see him, he's dark brown with a beige / cream chest with brown speckles, about the size of a crow. He is wearing jesses, that's the leather straps on their legs, and a bell. He is hand reared and very friendly, unlikly to hurt anyone unless you were to corner him or grab him. He may come down to someone and "Chup", that's the noise they make, as he sees people as a food source and safty net, more than likely it would be a woman with streight brown hair like me as I'm a bit like his mum. If you see him please visit our website and phone the number.

  • Unowned houses?

I have heard there is a list of houses and other buildings in the UK that are not owned by anyone eg: the owner died, left no will and has no family.

Aparently this list is available to look at and is being held by either the government or local councils but is not easy to find.

does anyone know how to get hold of this said list? I am interested in buying a property.

  • Working from home?

Due to my partners circumstances he cannot work away from home during the spring.

We are looking for something he can do from home, either on the internet or otherwise, where he can earn a little extra cash.

He really needs it to be quite flexible, eg no set hours, something he can do in his own time, and for there to be no start up fee as we already have very little money.

He is highly skilled in the knowledge of animals, Birds of prey especially. I was wondering if there is anything he can do writing for a falconry or wildlife magazine.

He is quite computer litterate, although not an expert by any means, can use programs such a word and dream weaver and can learn how to use many other programs.

We are going to look at selling a few of our things to get us out of this tight spot and we would be looking at something as a back up too.
