  • Guess the breed?

Wondering if you can guess the mix in this dog?

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/22478817@N05/21977079...

From that link there is a picture of him as a puppy too. He has a very unique mask (unlike a pure husky). Also he is 15mos. and 80lbs. so unlike a husky again.

    Any suggestions?

  • Are you a purebreed lover?

Just wondering how many people are freaks out there with their purebreeds? And if so....

What is so wrong with owning a non purebred dog?

Are you a purebred?? HAHA (I think NOT)

This is in response to a post a user made about one of my answers: LMAO! A mix that is "mostly Tamaskan" -- well, heck, you might as well call him purebred, because if they aren't really a breed, *anything* can be "purebred", right? Sheesh.

YES I do own a MUTT and YES I do love him and YES he is health free and has had NO problems for years! I wasn't calling him a purebred otherwise I wouldn't have used the term "MIX" in there...but if you rather me call him a "MUTT" then fine, he's a mutt...and a gorgeous one at that (look at my 360 profile)...acutally better looking than most purebred dogs I've met.

So what's the big deal? I need someone to clarify this for me.

And if you love mutts...thanx for posting too! :o)

  • Is this cruelty or ok?

I am very worried at the moment. My husband and I may be moving (need to for work advancement and security). We will be moving from Alberta, Canada to Bahrain, Middle East.

We have a one year old siberian husky that is part of our family. We have researched all we need to do to take him and are prepared to pay the large fees to do so.

The one thing that worries us the most is if he will be able to adjust to the weather difference. Right now he is used to temperatures from 36 to -36 degrees celcius throughout the summer and winter months. In Bahrain the temperature range would be 45 to 17 degrees celcius throughout the year.

We would be living in a large airconditioned house there, so that is a plus. With a large backyard, with a pool he could swim in with us.

I am wondering if it is cruelty to bring him...what would be better:

Find him a VERY loving home here (which I would regret for life...cause he is my baby)....or take him with!?

    Any and all help..thankyou!

  • How to get another dog??

So I really want this sweet girl that has been up for rescue for a year now...I have shown my husband several times...saying our pup needs a buddy...but it took a long time to convince him on the first dog (even though he loves him to bits)...any suggestions on how to better approach him into getting this one??

  • What's so wrong about dog runs?

It's better than crating a dog all day like most people! A large, fenced area with tons of toys and shelter is a great idea for a dog I think! As long as they get the attention they need and are not chained up. What is everyone's problem with them??

  • Dryer Vent heating dog house??

I was wondering if it would be safe/possible to heat my dog house with the dryer vent? He is a husky and does not need constant heat, nor does it want it, so the dryer heat would be sufficent (we do one-three loads a day!). I was wondering if this is unsafe or if anyone had any suggestions on how to do this safely. I am thinking it's a great way to recycle the lost heat we pay for! Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

    Thank you!!

  • Dog's eye!!!!?

Help! I noticed this morning that my dogs eye was all puffed up. It's not closed completely, but I think he might have gotten stung by something last night ontop of his eye. It is all swollen around his whole eye and his eye is a little red (no blood). I called the vet and they said it was probably just a bug bite and to monitor it for awhile and if he has any other symptoms to come in.

Has anyone had this happen? What kind of bugs could be really bad for him? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am still going to take him to the vet as I am a worry wort, just wondering if there is anyone that might have a good idea of what it might be or how to help him!

10 points to the person that doesn't tell me take him to the vet immediately and gives a good response!

  • Any dog owners want to take a survey?

Just wondering how many irresponsible dog owners there are, answer yes or no to the following:

    1. You have given your dog away because you are moving?

    2. You are never sure when is the right time to go to the vet?

    3. You never researched the breed you bought?

    4. You take your dog for a walk once a day or more?

    5. You research the ingredients of the food you give your dog?

    Just a short one...it's amazing!

  • Anyone feed a "raw diet" to their dogs?

I have a 5mo. old Husky and currently feed him Orijen. I would like to try the raw diet on him and see if he likes it (I am sure he will). I have found lots of information, but a lot is contradicting. Anyone know how much I should feed him? He is 35lbs right now and 5mos old. What should I feed him...diet suggestions or recipes?? Please help! Thanx!!

  • Anyone had a dog with kennel cough??

I just got back from vacation and I'm pretty sure my little one has kennel cough or some sort of cold?! He's been more lethargic than usual (he's 4 1/2 mos and not running around like usual)...we picked him up at the kennel (a very very good one) on Sat. and since then he's been sneezing a ton, and dry hacking...seems to be the correct symptoms?! He's had all his vaccinations, including bordetella (but I know this is somewhat like the flu shot...not always preventative). I'm going to call the vet and take him in, but wondering if anyone has come in contact with this?? Anything I can do to help my pup to ease him till the vet?
