had an old roommate who was always on about how she was brutally honest and that was better than lying. she would tell someone, my god you look AWFUL! and walk away.

i know there are also times when brutal honesty is a good thing--to wake someone up to the truth when they are denying it, for example.

which is more common? is being brutally honest more helpful or hurtful?

i'm not a Bears fan (and my team has NOT been doing well and it doesn't look too hopeful), but i am happy for the Bears fans that have been so devoted. i'm glad that they're doing so well. next, it's time for the lions to make a move!

came upon this quote while reading and thought it was interesting; body and soul are definitely connected, but to what extent? are they inseparable or can the spiritual (or soulful) be drawn away from the physical- kind of like mind over matter?

please don't jump down my throat and call me liberal names. i don't know a lot about guns. i've only seen them in cases and i've never held one in my life.

so, obviously, i don't know what it is like to have a gun or feel like it is necessary. there is a lot of dissent about gun laws and i would like to know why the one gun/month limit is bad.

one person told me that if they went to a gun show, then they wouldn't be able to buy more than one gun which makes sense because i would imagine gun shows are like any other show where you might want to buy a bunch of things at a time while you are there. what are other reasons?

seriously asking: there are many debates on the interpretation of verses in the Bible. that the text has been altered according to the translator is often brought up.

is this true? have words and meanings been changed through translation? and if it is true, how should the Bible be interpreted? does it change the way the Bible should be read?

again: not trying to challenge anyone. some say that the Bible is the absolute word of God and others that it is the words of God or prophets secondhand from humans (with the human allowance for error and bias). it can't be both (can it?). so now i wonder, which is it?
