looking for an old demo from the 90's demoscene?
Does anyone recall the demo that was called something like "Omnicron"? The demo had a static image of a book, and overlaid on top of it would be various symbols that flashed in time with the music, like first there'd be a circle, then a triangle, then a skull, then a squiggle, then a spiral, etc. If so, do you know what this demo was actually called (I remember the name was something based on "omni" and some variant of "necronomicon"), and where it could be downloaded from? Thanks.

2 AnswersMythology & Folklore2 years agoI need help finding an encyclopedia set from the late 80's-early 90's (not brittanica).?
The base set was two exceptionally large books. Beyond that, they would send out a "year book" to add to it, as well as a Christmas book that had recipes, pull out sheets for crafting, tips on decorating, etc as well.
Anyone familiar with this set?
1 AnswerBooks & Authors3 years agowhat is the name of a choose your own adventure-like book involving hysko birdmen, a huge-nosed sidekick, and a squat hominid?
it is not an actual CYOA book, but one like it (like Endless Quest, etc), from the mid-80's. the main character was human, there were birdmen with spears and flew with artificial wings strapped to their arms, the main character's sidekick was a short little man with a nose as big as his face, they rescued a squat hominid, there were musical crystal vials/flasks, and i vaguely remember there being either a dragon and/or a spaceship (or maybe it *was* a dragon that was a spaceship?)... does anyone know the name of this book?
2 AnswersBooks & Authors5 years agoWhat are some good movies with extremely loyal right-hand men (doesn't matter if hero or villain)?
for example, Mr. Joshua in Lethal Weapon, where General McAllister demonstrates burning Mr. Joshua, is exactly what i have in mind (Youtube "Lethal Weapon Do You Smoke" to see the scene i have in mind), but i'm looking to make a list of characters like him.
in particular, i'm looking to find loyal characters who are in politics.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
2 AnswersMovies6 years ago"Always allow these people to view my webcam" doesn't work right in YIM?
In YIM, I have one person on my "Always allow" list, and sometimes, it doesn't ask permission when he views my cam, like it's supposed to... however, the *rest* of the time, it acts no differently than "Always ask my permission". I *just* updated last night, and it's still doing it, so that can't be it. any help on how to get this to work right would be greatly appreciated.
1 AnswerOther - Yahoo Messenger8 years agoHow do you say "I am guardian over you" in Latin?
Or something similar to that effect, however "guardian" is a necessary word in the phrase... (i.e.: "I will be a guardian unto you" or "I am your guardian", phrases like that as well)
Thanks in advance
3 AnswersLanguages10 years agoWhy is everyone running?
In The Sims 3, for some inexplicable reason, everyone has decided to run everywhere while at home (even unto forcing them to go somewhere at "walk" doesn't stop them from running), and doesn't use public transportation for work/school. I have a clean install, no mods or skins. One minute they were all 'normal', then the next, they were all hyper. Any ideas on what caused this or how to fix it?
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade agoSimple German question?
In "Er ist viel gefahren." and "Er hat viel gelesen.", why is the first one "ist" while the second "hat"? I thought "ist" is present tense, like "is" is in English.
6 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoExplain some Rammstein lyrics...?
I'm learning German, and I'm having trouble conjugating words, so I look to Rammstein to help me.
Sie wollen mein Herz am rechten Fleck...
dann schlägt es in der linken Brust...
I understand what the lyrics mean, but I don't understand why "am" is used in the first line, but "in der" in the second. Does the "in the" reflect the direction (rechts, links), or the object (Fleck, Brust)?
If they reflect the object, then are there genders for rechts and links?
And why is it "am" ("an dem", right?) as opposed to "in der"... Does "am" mean "on the" instead of "in the"?
3 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoNeed help identifying a crystal?
I used to own the most beautiful set of earrings, consisting solely of a crystal, cut like a cube. From one angle, it would be a deep cobalt blue, from another angle, it was a royal purple, but when seen straight-on, it was clear as glass. I've since lost those earrings, but I remember seeing other crystals just like that. Does anyone know what that crystal could be? Thanks.
3 AnswersEarth Sciences & Geology1 decade agoIn German, what is the difference?
between the v and w sounds? Like, "Wir verstehen" have the same sound to me. Is there something subtle that I'm missing, or do they have the same sound (akin to an English soft-c and s)?
2 AnswersLanguages1 decade agoWhy is Youtube taking forever?
I've cleared my cache, checked for malware, and freed up hard drive space, but it's taking me about 10 minutes to view a one-minute video (that is, from the time I press "pause" to let it buffer, to the time it's done buffering). I have zero problems when it comes to downloading files (ie: it takes about an hour to download a CD's worth of data, but an hour or more to watch two 10-minute Youtube videos). I'm using Time-Warner cable. Any advice?
2 AnswersYouTube1 decade agoNeed help for dinner ideas.?
I need 2 more dinner ideas, but I've completely run out of ideas. It must be *very* cheap (no more than $2 per serving); we've worn all the 'standby' dinners out to no end (like lasagne, BLTs, fried chicken, ramen, pizza, chili dogs, sandwiches), so 'comfort food' is out; and due to the fact we all have very diverse tastes (I'm lactose intolerant [but can deal with dairy products in small amounts, no more than a slice of cheese or a cup of yogurt at any given time], and another in my family has ulcers), so it can't be either too spicy (ie jalapeno poppers) or too creamy (ie chicken alfredo).
That being said, I have a large supply of spices and other cooking sundries like oil, wine, salsa, etc.
So, anyone have any ideas for dinner suggestions, or even cheap TV dinners that don't taste like it came from a school cafeteria?
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhat are the lyrics to NWO by Ministry?
I've seen a number of lyric sites, but none of them seem to agree on what is being said (for example, the last line is interpreted as "'Cos it's the subject of the eyes of the drowned", "'Cos it's the subject of the eyes of the clown", "I've seen the sunset through the eyes of the crowd")
Anyone know the *real* words to it?

14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoMy sim won't work the DJ booth!?
I have all the expansions, and I've set up a nightclub on a community lot, however, none of my controllable sims will work a DJ booth anywhere on that lot, and while they have no problem working the one they have at home or on any other lots, they can also use all other items on that lot as normal. Any advice on how to fix the situation?
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade agoAre there two versions of Metallica's Fade to Black?
I have the version that was on tape, from about 5-6 years after Ride The Lightning came out. But I've heard a version played on the local radio station that's different. On mine, the last line is "Death greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye", and then it goes right into the guitar riff with a wind-like sound played over the riff. On the radio version, you hear "...say goodbye" then as the *dun-dun-dun-dun-duuuuunnnn* riff plays, "goooodbye" echoes faintly over it.
Are there two versions? What album is this other version from, or is it a radio mix?
1 AnswerOther - Music1 decade agoWhat song is this, or what YouTube video is this song from?
There is a song that I've seen used on YouTube, in particular on a demo of either a Counter-Strike jump map or a surf map (I believe from CS 1.6), I can't remember which. Anyway, the song is all in German, and is all about CS. The lyrics go something like "bomber, fragger, awp whore, hacker" (in a similar droning pattern).
Does anyone know either what the name of this song is and who sings it, or the YouTube video that features it?
