  • What are some techniques to deal with temporary anxiety?

I am not normally an anxious person, but right now I seem to be suffering from anxiety. I know the cause and it is a temporary (few weeks to several more months or more) situation. I can not do anything to get rid of the situation and I am already dealing with it as best as I know how.

In the meantime, I find myself quite nervous and almost panicky sometimes. Sometimes it comes and goes in a matter of minutes and sometimes I stay nervous for most of the day. I already exercise and eat right. Most of the time, I do not have any significant sleep problems.

Are there any natural ways to deal with anxiety like this? Maybe herbal teas or a nutritional supplement?

  • I have a strange red lump, almost a ridge under my eye brow, near my nose. What could it be?

It started less than a week ago and at first looked like a bump, then it looked like two and now it seems to be a small ridge. A few days ago, the area around that eye darkened a bit and I thought it was going to look like a black eye, but the darkness cleared up before it ever looked bad. It has not changed in the past few days. It is not warm to the touch and not painful, just annoying. What could it be and is this something I should be concerned about? I did have oral surgery over a week ago, but the swelling from that was long gone before this began.

  • How can I encourage my toddler to talk?

He will be 2 in June and is exceptionally smart. He can convey anything he wants you to know and can understand and follow complex instructions. I also know that he CAN talk. He has said clearly complex words like grandpa, diaper, and even multiple words at once such as "me too" and "aunt -----". But for the most part, he just refuses and doesn't speak at all. When asked if he will say something, he shakes his head no. He does make animal and play sounds and is normal or advanced on all other developmental levels. He is also the youngest of 3 children. Any advice?

  • I need proof of vaccinations for college admittance. I can not verify my Rubella vaccine. What should I do?

I was vaccinated as a child with all of the regular vaccines. Now, as an adult re-entering college, I was asked for my vaccination records. After some research, I learned that my records were never put in the state's computer system and the hard copies were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. So, I took a blood test to show verification that I have had the vaccine and, to my surprise, it came back negative! They recommended that I retake the blood test (for another fee, of course). But, do I have any reason to think that the results will come back any different? Is there any food or drink that could have messed up the results? Or, should I just get re-vaccinated?

  • What should you do if you suspect a family member may be a pedophile?

There are 3 facts that make me think that my father-in-law may be a pedophile. 1) my daughter has said that he "tasted" to make sure she brushed her teeth, 2) he was seen getting her to reach into his pocket for candy, and 3) she doesn't feel comfortable being left there. Since I became aware of these, she has not stayed alone with him. I don't think anything worse than that has happened, but I am concerned that more and worse incidents would happen in the future and prevention is the key. I did explain all this to my husband, and although he thinks his father is harmless and means only well, he also understands my concern and my caution.

It has sense come to pass that we have tried to bring these concerns out in the open to my father-in-law for a possible resolution. That has blown up in my face with him sending out a mass email to his family about how I am trying to isolate my husband from his family by throwing out wild accusations.

Are there any suggestions on how I can handle this without compromising my kid's safety?

  • How do I load the paper in a MX-2008A price gun?

I just purchased it online and it did not come with instructions. I did a search online for an online version of the manual and couldn't find that either. :(

  • How can I get labor restarted?

Thursday night, I began having really good, strong, and regular contractions that were about 8 minutes apart. By morning, they were about 4 minutes and very painful. As we live an hour away from the hospital, we headed that way. By the time we arrived, they were back to 8 minutes apart and very weak, but I got checked while I was there and was 80% effaced and almost 4 cm dilated. Now, almost 2 days later, I'm still only having mostly weak contractions no more than 8 minutes apart. What can I do to help labor get back on track? I am walking and having sex, but they don't seem to help for longer than I actually do them. I am VERY ready! I have gestational diabetes and a decently big baby. They want to induce if he is not born soon, but I want a natural birth.

  • I have concerns about gestational diabetes and having a big baby. Help!?

I have gestational diabetes. My biggest concern is my babies potential size. Especially since I already had big babies before and without gestational diabetes as a factor. My last baby weighed 10 lbs. 12 oz. at birth. I am not overweight and wasn't with the last baby either. I already eat pretty healthy and exercise moderately. A planned c-section is not an option. What should I do for the best possible outcome?

  • Need to be induced, trying to do it naturally, any suggestions?

I have already looked up the other question on inductions so please don't repeat common answers (such as wait until the due date, walk, have sex, etc.)

I am 37 weeks and 2 days. I had an ultrasound at 36 1/2 weeks that showed that my baby is healthy and fat, with all of his measurements being that of a 40 week baby, also he estimated weight at the time was 8 lb 11 oz, which puts him to now weigh right at or just over 9 lbs. The midwife I saw today wants to induce labor before he gets too big, she wants to do it Monday and I turned it down due to the risk factors involved and the fact that I want a natural birth. She did strip my membranes today (I am 50% effaced and 2 cent dilated and have been for a week) and I plan to walk alot and have lots of sex. I have read a little bit about cohosh and castor oil, but as of yet have no plans to use them (YET). But I am desperate to avoid a medical induction, and also do not want an 11 or 12 lb baby. Any suggestions or advice????

  • I am trying to dispel the old wives tale that says you can not raise your arms above your head after 5th month

I am six months pregnant and being hounded by well-meaning family that says I am no longer allowed to raise my arms above my head (after the fifth month) because I will strangle my baby with his umbilical cord. I am sure this is not the case because I have two different pre-natal workout dvds that I do regularly and both include moves with your arms above your head. What I am trying to do, is find some verification from somewhere to ease their minds (and get them to leave me alone!) so any info or sources on the matter would be very helpful!

  • What rights does a 16 year old mom have in MS? Her parents are controlling and she wants a better life w baby

She has an excellent relationship with the baby's father who is trying to support and care for them, but can not because of the girl's parents. They even plan to get married, but her parents will not consent their permission. She, herself, can not work because she is not allowed to by them. What are her options?

  • How can I use Quickbooks to fill out tax form 1120S or what reports can I use to give me the info I need?

I'm using Quickbooks Premier: Contractor Edition 2005 and filing as an S-Corp (I'm a LLC in Mississippi). It seems like the program is set up to make you pay someone else to do something I should be able to do. Is there a way to make the two compatable, or at least, can someone tell me what reports will give me what I need?

  • What is the best toilet paper to use with a septic tank?

Best as far as overall value and easiest on the septic tank. I was recently told that White Cloud and several other brands took along time to break down, but what should I use instead and why?

  • How do you fix problem (flat and blah!) hair with very limited time and budget?

I'm 25 with blonde hair just past my shoulders, but it's horrible. I don't know what to do with it and I don't have much time or money. My current routine is to wash and condition most nights and either just brush it or put it in a pony tail once it's dry. HELP!!!

  • When and how should I transplant wisteria and/or blueberry plants?

I just bought a home that was formerly landscaped, but now overgrown and I'd like to transplant a wisteria from being lose near the house to another area where it can climb some lattice. Also, I want to move some blueberry plants that block the view of our pond. I'm not sure where I want to move those so any info on where they grow best would be appreciated too.

  • How do you help a formerly abused dog?

I've recently "adopted" a very young dog (maybe black lab mix?) that was severly abused and dumped. She's now pretty healthy, but she's scared of everything and always cowers. My initial strategy was to consistantly love on her and keep her food bowl full to try to give her a sense of safety and security. She seems better, but still scaredy and pitiful, for example you can NOT put a leash on her, she's scared of being in inclosed spaces and she still cowers and crawls when near people (that's not as bad as it was at first). Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, she deserves the best.

  • I am trying to buy a home and having trouble getting my contract approved even though my credit is okay?

It is a mega-find. The seller's were only asking $50,000 and it's perfect. The appraiser didn't know much about what he was doing so he appraised it the same as the purchase price (the last appraisal a few years ago was for over $60,000). Two other reasons we are having problems is that it's rural and some lenders don't do rural and most of the lending companies won't do loans for less than $50,000 and any money we pay down will put the loan beneath the mark. Besides getting a new appraisal, what else can I try?

  • Can I take in a dog off the street?

Right now I live in a subdivision, but am buying rural home. There is a dog that roams the streets in this subdivision with no collar, much less tags! She is pregnant and since she scrounges for food, I assume she doesn't get any vet attention either! I would like to take her in with me when we move into our new home. Since she either has no owner, or her owner is neglectful, can I just do this? If not, what would I need to do to make sure I'm not "stealing" a stray dog?

  • I want to fish in my private pond, how can I find out the mercury levels of the fish to know how safe they are

I am buying a house in Mississippi (George County) with a stocked pond, which we plan to fish, but my family is very health conscious. Is there a resource, online or locally that could help us find this out?
