I am looking to travel from Mangalore to Kerala by car in Jan/Feb of 2014. Are the roads fairly good to travel with an good car or will a 4 X 4 be required. I also may need travel company as I am doing this as a solo driver.

For a survey I am doing, I would like to know the budget you need (from various countries in your own currency) to make the pilgrimage for Haj. Expenses to include all cost of travel, accommodation, meals and essential expenses, but not gift and personal luxuries.

I am doing a survey on cost for Haj from various countries. This should be the estimated full cost of performing the ritual including all travel expences, accommodation, meals and other costs. In other words what budget you would need. Please exclude buying of gifts and luxuries.

Will Rs15,000 see a couple through with a reasonable life style including rentals, food etc in a fairly good suburb in Bangalore. If so, what would an apr. budget be.

My Grandfather (Dada) left India for South Africa round about 1890. He had given a false Hindustani name to enter onto the ship for South Africa. Around 1925 he made a visit to his birthplace in Ajmer, India. Apparently he also made a sizeable contribution for the construction of a wall at the Dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz. My father had accompanied my grandfather on this visit. They only spent a few week in India, then returned to South Africa. Our family surname is Ghisamudien Mia. This is all information I have at present. It is also possible that my great-great grandfather was connected with the Dargah of Ajmer, as I think his grave site is situated in Taragar (a small hill burial site). I do hope I have my spelling correct.

I am seeking anyone that could help me with research on our family background or help me trace my lost family in India. I am trying to gather as much information as possible before I do visit India.
