Why is Trans fat bad at the molecular level?
I've been doing studies on the fats in our diets (unsaturated, saturated, poly, trans). I've come across a lot of good information and a lot of bogusness.
I know HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol are essential to our bodies (with HDL being "good" and LDL being "bad") but with the trans-fat raising LDL cholesterol, the only thing I find that's bad is it's "link" to heart disease.
I don't care about the link, much research of these "links in heart disease" have been proven wrong through molecular studies (since oxidation is what causes cholesterol build up).
What is going on at the molecular level to make trans-fat so bad other than the raising of LDL and lowering of HDL?
Am I missing something?
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness9 years agoWhat are these bugs in my fish tank?
I have a 5 gallon fish tank with one Betta in it.
The tank has a few fake plants, gravel, and a rock.
I just noticed today that the space above the water has 5 bugs that look like mosquitoes. They're about a centimeter in length, brown, and have four legs with what looks like two long antennae.
What are these? Where did they come from?
I've googled a lot and can't find an answer.

I was bitten by a blue and red spider. Now I'm feeling very energetic. I can see better and I have an urge to climb. What's happening?
