  • Is it possible to see fat-loss results this fast?

I m a seventeen year old girl who was kind of a chubby kid and who has been slowly naturally thinning out as I gained height and hit puberty but with still a noticeable belly, roundish face, thick thighs and flabby arms. I ve only ever had a vague interest in my weight/body, which is to say I exercise for PE class and during tennis season, and as a foodie (now on foreign exchange in Spain) never really believed in denying myself good food. A "bikini body" is something that would be nice but not a huge priority.

A week or so ago I noticed I was gaining back some of that baby fat my body had managed to shed, and I decided to actually be proactive about my weight and see if anything happened. This was three days ago that I started cutting down on carbs and sugars, semi-significantly decreasing quantity, and exercising at least a little every day.

This morning I woke up and my belly was the smallest I ve ever seen it. Am I just imagining it? Was I just bloated before when I thought I had gained weight? Or is it actually possible to shed fat this fast? Obviously you guys don t know me, so I don t expect anyone to have a real answer to what s going on with my body, but my main question is just if it really is possible to lose significant fat in a matter of days, and what the science behind it is (sources please!). My google searches haven t been very successful. Thanks!

  • Can I take my pets on a Rotary Exchange?

I'm in the process of applying for a Rotary Youth exchange for the 2015/2016 school year (my junior year) most likely somewhere in Europe. Earlier this year before I decided to apply I got 3 pet hermit crabs and while I'll do what I have to, I would really like to not have to say goodbye to them so soon. Not to mention I'm not sure any of my family or friends would be thrilled to take care of them. Everyone but my little brother thinks they're creepy and he's too lazy to take care of them.

My question is: I know it's a long shot, but by any chance would I be allowed or able to take my hermit crabs to Europe with me for a year through the rotary program?

  • What's the protocol on going on a first date with someone you have no intentions of being with?

There's this guy a couple years older than me who goes to my school, we do the same competition but he was on a different team. He found out we have something in common via Facebook and we've been texting all summer. I'm not interested in him at all, and I'm not sure how "close" we are since we haven't really talked much in person but A LOT over texts. Today we were talking about hanging out to swim or something but due to conflicting schedules he asks if I want to have dinner with him. I stalled by saying that it seems like thus day is pretty busy for us both, maybe we should take a rain check. this way im not rejecting him im just suggesting we find a time to do what we originally were planning to do. He responded by saying "good point, but definitely next weekend!!!!" I may have kept it casual for now, but i get the feeling this is going to come up again. I feel like I'd be leading him on to go out with him knowing full well I have no interest in him, but I do want to see him in person.

What's the etiquette on willingly going on a date that's going nowhere? And how do I tell him I'm not interested without sounding presumptuous?

What if we do something together during the day and I make it clear I'm inviting my best friend and turn it into a casual group thing?

  • How to write current event articles in a town where nothing happens?

I'm a current/local events reporter for a small local newspaper in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere. Every week an article is due about something local that either happened within the past week or will happen within the next week, it must include a quote from someone relevant to the story that I collected myself and a relevant photo that I took.

The problem I run into every week is that I am unable to find anything to write about because nothing newsworthy happens in a town this small! I end up looking all week for something to write about, coming up empty handed and then panicking on Sunday because I couldn't find anything to write about.

My question is, what are some ways to find stories when there aren't any stories to find? I've already tried talking to the police station, they weren't very cooperative but they told me about their press release webpage, but nothing more than traffic tickets ever happens. I've talked about some upcoming events at the public library but that won't change within a week and I don't want to do that every week. I'm not very optimistic that anyone will be able to help, but it was worth a shot. Thanks!

  • shirts similar to dELiA*s "cozy cat tee"?

I'm looking for a christmas gift for my friend (14yrs) and I think she would love this shirt I found from delias,

    http://store.delias.com/product/cozy+cat+tee+30837...

But I want to look at more shirts similar to this just to get some more options. She's into tribal prints, and she likes cats and giraffes. She seems to like that kind of flowy silhouette, but she also likes belly shirts. She's size XS or sometimes S

    thanks:)
