I have read that approximately one third of ulcerative colitis cases turn cancerous. If true, what hope is there?
This genuinely worries me.I have u/c and have had it for several years. There is also a history of this, colorectal cancer and diverticulitis within my immediate family. My aunt died of colorectal cancer,my mother suffered horribly with diverticulitis all her days and more so in her latter days, eventually resulting in major surgery meaning that she ended up with a colostomy and still had the bloody disease to deal with!I'm sure that it shortened her life (she died aged sixty nine). Please advise.Thank you.
3 AnswersOther - Diseases1 decade agoPlease forgive my ignorance, but is alchohol truly forbidden in Islam?
I read in a book about Omar Khayyam (admittedly a fictionalized account of the great poet's life) that the (Great Prophet) Mohammed originally banned alchohol because he was trying to unite a bunch of hill tribes to defend themselves (against the depredations of the Crusaders) that cordially detested each other and would have gladly massacred their nieghbours given enough opportunity. Is there any truth to this? Also, could you please translate 'alchohol' was it 'Al Kuhul'(that which maddens')?Thank you.
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes anybody know anything about the individual sigils/glyyphs on the Solomonic Pentacles?
There are many elegant and mysterious characters employed in the Key of Solomon the King (Mathers edition).Does anyone out there know how to interpret the individual symbols which are employed?
I dont need anything on the main body of each symbol, the framework on which they are arranged, just the glyphs/sigils themselves. Many of them appear to relate to the various angelic choirs, but other than that I've drawn a blank. Please, only answer if you have proper information or thoughts to offer.I'm not interested in religious maniacs so if you DO come here only to flame me I WILL REPORT YOU!!
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI am drawn to Judaism & have recently found a Jewish ancestor could I be a gilgul?Am I being drawn 'home'?
All of my adult life (from the age of 13 or so) I have been deeply impressed by the Jewish culture.I was drawn to the Hebrew alphabet as if to something entirely natural and picked it up quickly. An ancestor of mine came to the UK from Germany c.120 yrs ago and Anglicized his name from Fuchs to Fox (almost all of my family have red hair). For generations bible-typical names prevailed, but that may have been purely coincidental given the culture of that time.He dwelt in Newcastle, a city with a large Hassidic community and converted to C-of-E to marry an English girl.My mother's name was Mary Leitchmann Fox,her sister Wilhelmina and brothers George and Joshua (after their father).Uncles names include Isaac,Nathan ,Ellis or Elias (not sure which) Does there appear to be a Jewish strain running through us? Is it possible for a Jew to be born outside of a Jewish body?I also have ulcerative colitis,an illness that while not solely confined to Jews is found often in those of Ashkenazic roots.
11 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade agoRe the 'Is the messianic spirit ethnospecific question':?
Can I resubmit my question and take this opportunity to thank all who replied to my earlier effort? What I had in mind was this:
If the spirit of God desires reconnection with his/her/its creations as much as we seem to want to reconnect to it,then wouldnt it seek to manifest itself in ways that each nation or race could understand according to their own perception and experience of the world? I'm maybe assuming too much here, but I would have thought that the mindset of an Aramaic fisherman or farmer of some two and a bit thousand years ago would be quite different to that of a Bushman or a Quiche indian.Wouldnt this messianic energy manifest itself in a way to each of these groups better than the apparent 'one off' that was JC?
I agree with the earlier writer that many religions have claimed some sort of divine intercessor, whether or not they were actual saviours or merely messengers, but it does look as if the same basic message can be found in almost all cultures.
