  • Does this show a plan to fail or a failure to plan?

In the Christian bible it tells us that God wishes no one to perish and be sent to hell. It also tells us that he has a plan for salvation. All of that is pretty straight forward.

However, the bible also states that few will make it into Heaven.

Does that show that God's plan is one that He knew would fail from the beginning? Or does it just show a general lack of planning. It seems as if it is saying "I have a plan! It will fail 99.99% of the time but I have a plan!"

    Can someone explain that?

  • Is there such a thing as a round square?

Can something that is inconsistent exist? For example, can a round square exist? Can a dry flood happen? Both of these are inconsistent and impossible.

That very same logic applies to God. A being that is both all-powerful and all-knowing (or all-good) is inconsistent. It is inconsistent because an all-knowing god would know every action he would ever take - meaning he is not all-powerful since he could not do something he did not already know. In the same way, an all-powerful god would be capable of anything, including evil. To say he all-good is to say he can only do good things, which again puts limits on all-powerful.

  • Unable to take a breath after coughing?

I was recently (in the last month) treated for bronchitis. Since I have finished the antibiotics I find that I am still coughing on occasion. While I know that a cough is a normal response, it have had several episodes over the last two weeks where I am completely unable to take a breathe for a few seconds after it (feels much longer!) It has the feeling of my throat being completely closed off. Feels like there may be "something" in the back of the throat that I can feel when swallowing as well but unable to see anything. Anyone ever had something like this?

  • What to do when wife doesn't respect or accept that I believe differently.?

I can’t help but feel that my wife and I are headed for divorce. The issue isn’t one of cheating or abuse, we simply have wildly different views on religion. Going into this marriage, we knew that we came from different backgrounds as she was raised in a Pentecostal church and I was raised in a non-religious family. She feels lied to by the fact that I made the effort to try to convert to her view when we first met but for a number of reasons, walked away when I learned more about it. I still go to church with her on most Sunday’s but she wants more than that – more than I can give. While I continue to respect and support her in her beliefs, it feels that she does not return any of that acceptance or respect for me to do the same. It is a near constant argument between us, one that she can simply not let go of. We have two small children that she demands be brought up to believe only as she does. I would much rather they make up their own minds. Anyone else experienced this? Advice?

  • Am I Being Unreasonable?

Is it unreasonable for me to wish to go out to a get together with co-workers where I might have ONE drink despite my wife’s objections? She objects to it on the fact that it is not strictly a “guys” night out and there will be both men and women from work there and on the fact that her own religious view point on the consumption of any alcohol being bad.

Would it be wiser to skip it and avoid the argument that will surely follow or to stick with it and show that an occasional drink with co workers does not an alcoholic make? This would be the second get together I would have gone to in 4 years. I cannot help but feel that she is being just a tad controlling. When one is married are they to give up any and all relationships outside of the immediate family (or a church group which seems totally okay from her point of view)?
