What's the best compact digital camera for taking pictures of my kids?
I'm thinking about the Canon SD850:
4 AnswersCameras1 decade agoWhere can I NCAA football rules interpretations to hypothetical scenarios?
It's bowl season, and I'm watching way too much football. I've looked over the offical rules:
http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/2006/2006_footba...
But I still have some questions about hypothetical scenarios. Is there an online forum where these are discussed?
FWIW, here are a couple of the scenarios:
1. The new team uniforms conform to the section 1-4 of the rules, but is made of a new, high-tech material that is both form-fitting and has a low coefficient of friction. This makes it more difficult for the opposing team to get a grip during tackles. Legal?
2. A player has a bandana on under his helmet, and it's not visible while the helmet is on. He is hit hard on a play, which knocks off his helmet exposing the bandana. Is there a penalty?

Why do you use Yahoo! Messenger vs. any other IM service out there (like AIM, MSN or Skype)?
I like the Call feature feature the best, and the photo sharing is really cool too.

I currently have a 15 year old mountain bike (i.e. heavy) with a rack and some 1.5" road slicks on it I'm using for commuting (16 mi round trip on suburban streets with several stoplights). I'm looking for an upgrade.
I went out to a few shops and I think I've narrowed it down to a more upright road bike. Some models I'm looking at include the Specialized Sequoia and the Trek Pilot.
I realize that a bike choice is very much personal preference, so I'm not looking for the one right answer. I'd like pointers to more info, and also if folks have pros or cons based on experience, let me know that as well.

I suppose this depends a lot on climate. Presume a reasonably temperate climate, like the one found in N. California, Oregon, and Washington.
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape2 decades agoHow do I permanently remove IE (Internet Explorer) from Windows XP SP2?
I use Avant Browser, so I have no need for IE. Previously, I replaced the iexplore.exe program file with an empty text file by the same name, and that worked great. Lately, it seems that Microsoft patched the OS to automatically replace the iexplore file. FWIW, I want to do this to force some apps (like Yahoo! Music Engine, MSN Messenger, and Microsoft Office) to use my default browser and not IE.

It the one where Ben (Brendan Fraser) comes back from his travels after learning about his leukemia and the end of the show is his funeral with this song playing in the background. (Best episode of Scrubs ever, BTW).

2 AnswersPhilosophy2 decades agoHas humanity's collective eyesight gotten worse in modern times?
It seems that a large percentage of the population wears glasses/corrective lenses. Poor eyesight must have been a serious disadvantage to survival in the past (even a couple hundred years ago for the lower classes). So has our collective eyesight gotten worse, or were our ancestors with poor eyesight either barely scraping by or getting weeded out?
