I have a variable x. I want to test whether x is an integer (and not, for instance, a char variable). How do I do this?

I asked my mother what my father wants for Father's Day and she mentioned a book he wants, but all she knows that it was written by an elderly African American man (she thinks he's an academic). Presumably the book was written recently and has sold well, but I'm at a loss as to what it might be.

I don't remember what the commercial was for, but I googled the lyrics and the song was performed by the Ramones. It may have been an Apple or other technology oriented commercial, but I'm not positive.

My mother recently had a canvas print stretched and framed for me. The frame is great, but the stretching job is sub-par. The canvas is not tight and a bit floppy to the touch. Since my mother lives several states away, taking the picture back to the original framer is not an option. Is it possible for a framing gallery to restretch the canvas more adequately?

I heard it on the radio yesterday. I don't remember any lyrics, but I can describe the song.

The first section I don't remember much, but it starts out with a guy saying something along the lines of "wa wa" in a pretty unique way.

The second section is more techno and starts off with a guy saying a word, I think twiice. I forget the word, but I think it's polysyllabic. The word is said in a "hip hop"-ish voice.

The final (I think) section is mostly straight out rap/hip hop.

What is the standard treatment? What precautions should one take? Are there any standard medications?

I need to know what the kindergarten entry birthday cutoff of each of the United States was in the 1950's and 1960's and, if a birthday cutoff changed in that time period, what the change was and when it occurred.

Any ideas for where I might find this information?
