Weight question - which is healthier and why?
Here is my question. Is it healthier to eat healthy foods and be "underweight" or to eat unhealthy foods and be in the "healthy weight" range?
Assume that amount of physical activity remains constant in either scenario. Please explain your reasoning.
Thanks.
8 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 decade agocat-pattern balding?
One of our cats (f- age 13) has recently begun developing bald patches. She scratches and licks until she goes bald. The vet said that it was a food allergy, but switching foods has not made a difference, and things just keep getting worse. She now has very little hair on her right leg and side. The very odd thing is that she is ONLY doing this to her right side. Any insights?
We don't want to go ahead with the steroid injections because they are expensive and we're not sure it's allergies, otherwise you'd think it'd be both sides affected. Also we can't put a cone on her because she uses her claws.
5 AnswersCats1 decade agoDo a painted turtle's winter activity levels usually change with tank size?
Okay, here is the scenario. I have a midland painted turtle who is less than one year old. I normally keep him in a 20 gallon long tank. He hasn't been eating much lately, which I assumed was due to the days being shorter and the cold weather. I added a heater to the tank to get the temperature up to 74 degrees, because I know their immune systems are better when they are warm.
I am now at my parents' house for a few weeks, and I brought my turtle with me. He is TEMPORARILY in a 10 gallon tank. I know that's not large enough, but it's just for a few weeks, because it's what we had here.
Since I moved him to this tank (same lighting, basking dock, everything) he has been basking more, swimming more, and eating more. In the other tank, he was constantly sleeping underwater in his terra cotta pot.
Does anyone have any idea what is happening here? The water is the same temperature, he has the same setup, but no heater in this tank. Same food, lights, everything.
Thanks!
3 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoHow do you teach a Deaf student to read?
According to my Teaching Reading class, phonics is very important for teaching students to read. A large part of the class focused on the importance of students understanding that words were a combination of letters, which represented sounds.
As a future special education teacher, it is possible that I will be responsible for teaching students who are Deaf or Hearing Impaired to read. I am just wondering how the process would differ for this population, as they are unable to hear the phonetic link. Clearly they are capable of learning, but how would a teacher best facilitate this skill?
Thank you for your time.
