  • Do I HAVE to?

I washed all the windows, cleaned the bathroom, brushed the dog and vacuumed the entire apartment. Do I have to wash the dishes, or will it be enough just to wash the pans necessary for cooking dinner? ;D

  • Utilities incl. in rent not consistently provided - legal recourse?

Our utilities (with the exceptions of phone and cable) are included in our rent. Our building shares a well with the lot next door, which is currently undergoing construction. As a result of this construction, the well is shut off almost every single day. It's fairly inconvenient to never know when we'll be able to shower or wash dishes and they never give us notice when they're going to turn it off (the lot next door is not owned by the same landlord). Do we have any legal recourse? Could we force the landlord to hook up to city water while the situation persists or pay smaller rent payments to reflect the lack of service?

  • Do you work out when you're ill?

I started feeling sick yesterday. I'm not any better today so I didn't work out this morning. I just wondered whether most people take it easy when they're sick, or have a 'no excuses' policy when it comes to exercise?

  • Which course would you recommend for beginning music theory texts?

I am looking to buy music theory books for my husband, who is a self-taught musician. While he's been playing for 18 years, he's never done any theory work and can't read sheet music. I am debating between the Alfred's Essentials Self-Study and the Prentice Hall "Programed Course" series. I have some of the other prentice hall series texts, such as "Harmonic Materials in Tonal Music" by Greg A Steinke and have been pleased, but I don't have any experience with their beginner texts. I know that Alfred's is generally a good line, but I'm wondering if it is comparable to the Prentice Hall. There is a $50 difference in the price of the books. Does anyone with experience with either, or both, have an opinion? Any other recommendations? Hubby's birthday is in a week and a half, so was hoping to get it for the occasion.

  • How does jury selection work?

Six weeks ago I received a questionnaire in the mail regarding potential jury service. I filled it out and mailed it back within the 10 days as instructed, but have heard nothing since. I have no experience with the process; what is supposed to happen next? Is it normal that I haven't heard anything for this long? I just don't want to get in trouble for shirking jury duty.

  • Can you recommend the best edition of The Nicomachean Ethics?

I'm looking for a version with easily-readable, polished translation that still stays true to the original text.
