I came back from vacation and found that my old computer had crashed with this error: session3_initialization_failed

It boots up partially (I see the Windows logo) and then it reboots over and over. I looked up the error on Microsoft's site and the solution is insane. (missing or corrupt system files). I tried to repair via booting off CD but it still crashes.

At this point, I'm more interested in getting the data off the drive (160gb Hitachi, partitioned into 2 80gbs..NTFS) rather than fixing the old computer. I connected the drive to an external USB HD case but my MacBook Pro and my Dell Laptop cannot recognize the drive.

The external drive is set to "master"...I guess I can try setting the jumpers to "slave". It's formatted NTFS..I'm hoping my Dell Laptop (Fat32) can read it and see both partitions?

I assume the drive is OK because it partially boots up (windows logo) and then reboots.

Just wondering what % raise people are typically getting when they get promoted. (not necessary into a management or supervisor position) A lot of times there is overlap in the salary range between two grade levels. You don't need to mention your company name...but if you could list the industry your company is, that'd be helpful.

I have several newspapers I wanted to save for the future. i.e. cool articles, etc.. what is the best way to preserve it and prevent it from yellowing or cracking?

Looking at Apple's new MacBook... For $100 more, I can upgrade the 100gb 5400rpm disk to a 100gb 7200rpm disk. I am wondering what type of performance improvement i can expect. Are there any statistics out there benchmarking performance versus hard drive rpm?

Is it worth the $100?

I need to remove the two sliding glass doors (they ride on wheels on the top) and, if possible, the metal railings on the top,bottom, and sides. I have noticed the railings and support bars have a gummy glue-like substance, which I assume is to help seal it and keep it in place.

This is to make it easier to give my baby a bath in the tub. I don't need the doors for now.

I have two bottles of organic wine from 2002 and 2003 and also various bottles of non-organic red and whites from 1999-2003...

I wanted to know when is the optimal time to drink them...and how long is too long when storing them at home (sideways and in the pantry)2yrs? 5yrs? How do you know they have gone bad?

My HP printer is connected via ethernet to my router at home and each computer acts as its own print server in order to print to it. However, when I'm working from home (connected to my company's VPN), I am unable to print to my home printer. An error comes up saying I need to disconnect the VPN in order to print.

Does anyone know a work around? Seems ridiculous that I can't print to a printer on my home network when on VPN.

It might just be compatibility issues with the IPOD and stupid Windows XP.

I also run into the problem where half the time the computer will detect the IPOD when connected..other times, the IPOD just displays "do not disconnect" but itunes does not see it.

If the ipod is connected to my computer before boot up..the computer complains about it and will not boot up correctly.

Maybe I should just get a new one... :)
