  • "Background" Chronic lymphotic thyroiditis?

I was diagnosed with a follicular adenoma and my thyroid was removed a few weeks ago. Today I received a letter about the pathology report. It was determined that it was non-cancerous. But it also said that there was evidence of "background" chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. My doctor never mentioned that part in my follow-up appointment. I do have an idea of what it is, but the "background" term, I'm not so sure. What exactly does it mean by background chronic lymphotic thyroiditis?

  • Is buddhism a religion?

A friend of mine insists that Buddhism is a philosophy, while I thought it was considered an atheistic religion. So I'm curious, is it considered a religion? I found stuff online that says it's one, the other, or both. So I would prefer to hear from Buddhists, but non-Buddhists may answer as well.

  • Does a judge have a deadline in which to make a verdict?

I have a friend who plead not guilty to a class 2 misdemeanor (discharging a firearm in town). It's somewhat of a complicated case as it involves a state law that makes it legal to shoot a dog that is attacking yours on your property. I don't think details of the case are important to my question, but let me know if they would help. My question isn't really on the case itself.

My question is, does a judge have a deadline in which to make a verdict? The trial happened on January 19 and she wanted time to deliberate. It is now March 8 and he still hasn't heard anything. This is in South Dakota and involves a city ordinance, but input from any state would help. Does it usually take this long? It's a small town (~10,000) and it doesn't have a high crime rate, so I wouldn't think it would be a factor in the timing.

  • Atheists (and Theists, too) what do you think of this?

I found this video while looking for something else and it is ... interesting. I would like to know what your opinion is of it. It's about the impact of Atheism on morality. I would especially like to know what you think of what the former atheists said in the video. I don't agree with much of it, based on the atheists I know, all who I believe are moral (I'm Christian). But I guess it could be argued that they (the ones I know) grew up in Christian families and got their morals from that, even if they deny God's existence. (sorry if this the same old question you always get)

  • Question on the big bang and God?

I'm just curious, reading several questions on R&S, I see some answers/questions from atheists and non-creationists asking where God came from. Now, please, correct me if I'm wrong, but according to the big bang theory, the current universe came from a different universe that at one time collapsed on itself and exploded, scattering it's contents across space, eventually forming into stars, planets, etc. From what I understand, it is possible that this has happened several times, so we could possibly be in the 4th universe, for example. So I am wondering, where that first universe came from? Is there anything in the Big Bang that covers that? The reason I have this in the R&S section is that I see atheists criticize creationists/christians for believing in a god that has always been there. So I'm also wondering, why is it that ppl who believe in the Big Bang, criticize Christians for believing in a God who has always been there, having no point of creation, when (granted, as far as I know) the Big Bang says the same about the universe? If God has to have a beginning, wouldn't the universe also have a beginning?

I do know not everyone believes the Big Bang is true, but for those that accept it or know of it, it is just something that I have always wondered about and would appreciate an honest answer.

  • I had a dream about a friend of mine attempting suicide.?

A mutual friend of ours and I were walking down a dark, empty hallway of a hospital when we see him hanging at the end of it. We run to him and get him down and I check his pulse. He has a pulse and is freezing cold. I tell the friend who was with me to get a doctor and he goes. I look down at my friend and see his eyes moving around with a freaked out look on his face. After that, I woke up. What I remember very vividly from the dream is that his shirt is dark blue and how cold he was. Usually when I dream about people, I never see their face, even if I know who it is. The face of the friend who attempted was very clear to me, while my other friend’s was not. I know that dreams aren’t always literal, but this one was very disturbing to me. So any insight on what this could mean would make me feel much better.

  • Could I have c-diff?

About two weeks ago I finished the anitbiotic (Azithromycin) I was taking for a sinus infection. Now I have bad diarrhea where I have very watery BMs. Two days ago I had several of these bowels movements, the next day I had normal ones. But now today I had the watery BMs again. The diarrhea is the only symptom I have and I know that antibiotics can lead to c-diff, but I was only on this for 5 days. Its not like I had a ton of anitbiotics. Despite that, is it possible I have c-diff?

  • Raised tattoo?

I just got my tattoo yesterday (its been over 24 hours now) and it's raised. It's a chinese character and the black outline is normal, but the shaded part is raised. Do certain colors raise? Mine is green. I have two other tattoos that don't have any green and never raised. Is this something to worry about or is this normal depending on color or location? This one is beside my ankle, near the heel.

  • How should I react to my former bf who stopped being friends by avoiding me? Do I tell her off or ignore her 2

We were also roomates last year and when she got back from class, she would not even say hello. I tried to make small conversation and she would just say yes, no, or pretend she didn't hear me. Her boyfriend lived about an hour away, so she would leave right after class everyday to go. Even when she was getting ready she wouldn't talk. So now that she moved in with him, i never see or talk to her, but I really want to tell her how she really hurt me and I don't know if I should just let it go or if I should call her where she could just hang up on me or go to her home, which is about 2 hours away, should i write a letter to tell her? I just don't know what to do and I don't think that I will feel better until i get it off my chest.
