I intend to buy a UPS. however, i am confused that from the specification. it shows the estimated runtime is between 5 minutes to 11 minutes. I have 2 questions in mind.

1. during this 5-11 minutes . The UPS take over the power supply. what will it do to my computer during this period of time. can i set it to shut down my computer properly, or can i activate a email program to send myself a email for notification?

2. I always think that UPS is a backup supply of power which can supply power for much longer time than it is. so that my program can continue running without problem . is that such product ? and what it is called ?

I am using vista, the last row of keys on my keyboard does not work sometimes. 2 days ago it is the missing keys of "xcvm,./" . the next day is alternate keys "zbn" while "xcvm,./" works. so i formated my computer, reinstall vista. now my"hg" keys has infested as well. it does not work sometimes. is it a virus or script or just that my keyboard out of work ?

i am trying to create share folders for multiple user accounts, using win XP. rules like A can't access B's folder. B can't access A's folder. it works fine with just one computer. when i login using another computer to view the share files. seems the restriction is not there. what i should do ? thanks in advance

I created a boot disk using USB. after boot up. it go to dos prompt in C:\ drive. that's my usb drive. i want to access my local hard disks from there. I type D:\ no drive found
