  • What do you think might have been Ray Bradbury's purpose in writing Fahrenheit 451?

I'm not searching for direct answers, but perhaps just other people's opinions on what it is. I have to write an in-class essay tommorrow, and I really feel nervous about it, and was hoping for insight from some other people.

  • How come so many military things have an M at the beginning of the name?

I mean, you have the M4, M16, M1, M14, M1014, and sooooooo much more. I haven't caught a pattern in the names of them, and I don't quite get it. Does M just stand for military? If someonecould elaborate a bit for me, that'd be great.

  • What would one have to do to become a bodyguard?

I realize that you can always take a crash course and get some crappy little certificate saying you can protect someone, but what do you have to do in order to be taken seriously in getting with a company in the public sector? I'm checking out the idea, and I have somewhat of a disdain for joining the military, but what all do you have to go through to get with a company and get hired?

  • Can you practically go straight into SWAT if you have military experience?

I was thinking about joining Marine Reserves when I get older, and getting a degree, or taking a course or whatever in Criminal Justive and all, having the military help pay for part of my tuition, then going through the police academy.

Assuming that someone in the police academy did very well in everything, excelled a lot, and had some military training, how long would it take to get into SWAT?

  • Would you save someone you found who tried to commit suicide?

I mean, if you don't believe that people who commit suicide should not be allowed to, and have it made illegal, would you save them?

I mean, it's kind of hypocritical to say it's unfair to take away that right, but then if you'd save them, you're taking away their ability to do what they want with their body also.

  • What tends to make you happy?

BESIDES the normal things, like friends, family, etc.

I find that with me, I just like to be recognized. Remembered. I hate it when people refer to me as something other than my name, or a nickname given to me. I like being acknowledged. I like standing out to other people. Not sure if that's weird or anything... anyways, what makes you happy? Something along those lines of what I said. I don't mean being recognized, but something besides family and friends.

  • Who is your favorite philosopher?

Who is your favorite philosopher, and what do they usually philosophize about? I really enjoy Machiavelli's works, from what I've heard and read so far.

  • Can you imagine the possibilities, if all you thought about all day long was anything but yourself?

Someone put this question as an answer in one of my previous questions. I think it deserves to be acknowledged.

  • What would your last words be before you die?

What would your last words be before you die?

If you had the opportunity to have last words before you die... what would you say? I mean... of all the people that die, very few of them are given the option of saying their last words. If you were asked that, I bet your answer wuold be "uhhhh, I dunno." What if they shot you right there for that? Those were your last words. "uhhhh, I dunno." Would that really be what you wanted?

How would you want to be remembered? If you died right now, would you be happy with what you did in your life, and how you think people would remember you? Do you treat people like ****? Would you honestly be ok with dying, and most people being sad, but just ever so slightly being like "He was always(an extreme) sort of an asshole..." Would you ok with the mark you'd left on life? What if there was some sort of reward for being a truly good person when you died? Some sort of heaven that had nothing to do with religious values, or what religion you followed... but do you honestly think you'd go to that place? Are you happy with the mark you've left on this earth?

Come to think of it. I'm pretty happy with how I lived my life so far. I don't know what my last words would be though. I'd want them to be profound, I'd want to say something that the person who killed me, or the people around me would remember. I wouldn't want them to remember my death, but what I'd left behind.

  • Charisma-based careers?

I'm trying to think of jobs that I might want to work towards as a future goal. I want my job to be about talking to people, working with them, charming them.

I thought about being a car salesman, but looking at the disdain people have at the idea for that job, I doubt it'd be something I'd want. Do any of you have some ideas?

  • What's up with the obsession with bad rappers?

I don't get the stupid obsession with rappers such as T.I, Lil Wayne, and let's not forget the newest, stupidest craze... Soulja Boy. WHY? Why would anybody listen to this music? Why would you listen to music that takes virtually no thought process to create? "Oh, I have money and girls! I'm a pimp!" That's virtually the theme for every rap song that people enjoy. Can anyone just give me a good reason WHY?

  • I'm looking for some political rap/rock bands.?

I'm looking for some more bands sort of like Flobots. Rage Against the Machine is a bit too old for me, I'm looking for current political rap or rock artists who speak about current issues. Something along the lines of Immortal Technique, the Grouch, or like I just said, Flobots. Thanks, that's all.

  • Looking for the name of a comedian I saw on tv last night.?

I was watching this comedian, and I personally thought he was hilarious. He was asian, and did a bit about his kid. At one point he said "I've gotten just about everything in the world for my kid, but his favorite thing to play with is his penis. He calls it his ting ting. His favorite actual toy is this train. He calls it his pushie. So when we go to the store and I push him around in the basket at the store, he's going around saying 'pushie, pushie, pushie, pushie' while he's tugging on his ting ting!"

Does anyone know who this comedian is? I know this is very vague, but he was SO funny, and I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me who this is.

  • What is the process of joining an elite group(military/law enforcement/security) of some sort?

I'm also somewhat hesitant to follow military or law enforcement, as I have been told the pay is bad unless you're special forces like swat.

Do you have to be a policeman to become swat? How long do you have to be a policeman to join a swat team? What about bodyguard's? Can you get in the biz without having any prior law enforcement or military experience? I'd be ok with being military and getting paid 20-30 grand a year along with the benefits, but is that pay you can get while just starting, or soon after starting?

I'm not looking for a shortcut, but I want to know how to really get somewhere in any of these careers. Being a bodyguard sounds especially interesting to me, if you have any information specifically on that besides what I asked.

  • What are some good real time strategy games?

I'm not looking for just your average rts. I don't want Age of Empires, or Empire Earth, not just something where you advance through the ages and get new units. I want something like Company of Heroes, where it's all about taking the right territories, and such. I love rts' with territories, or something different about them. Can anybody name me an rts with a special 'ring' to it, and explain what it is that makes it special, or good?
