Why don't any pastor I listen to preach good sermons?
I quit the ministry and have been put into a situation where I have to go to church or it would destroy my life. So I go and listen to the sermons and man they suck. Now I can't be the only person that can write a decent sermon. I also find it hard to believe these pastors couldn't do a better job, they're smart people. Why do there sermons suck? Why doesn't God intervene? A.) They do suck. B.) I'm right. C.) Without giving you a 2 hour lecture on exegesis and homiletics I can't explain why A & B are true but please take it as granted when answering.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality6 years agoWhat's your greatest band of all time if you can pick anyone from any era and throw them together?
Vocals: Freddie Mercury
Lead guitar: Steve Vai
Rhythm guitar: Steve Cropper
Bass: Les Claypool
Drums: Roger Taylor
(Don't hate me drummers I just don't get what's so great about Rush's drummer. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but is Taylor more of a percussionist than a rock drummer?)
Song: Death Star by Tenacious D
1 AnswerPolls & Surveys6 years agoWhich political party might I want to be a part of holding these views?
Fiscal conservative who wants corporations to care about more than money. Social liberal who wants to take foreign threats seriously and not reward people for breaking laws. Wants gay marriage without having it flaunted in my face. Wants a smaller government. Likes the rationalism of liberatians, however thinks they don't take foreign threats seriously enough and also they have some wacky ideas as well. Would like legalization of prostitution and drugs while not advocating their use (only want to protect people from criminals who use those things to buck the system). I want better relations with Mexico if not a peaceful annexation. I don't want to outlaw religion, however I don't want to let scientifically nonsensical theology taught in school. I would rather our children learn cellular division than evolution or creationism.

2 AnswersElections6 years agoAlternatives to American Ninja Warrior?
My kids loved Wipeout, but the commentators make crude comments. They loved American Ninja Warrior, but it's teaching them unsafe behavior. What can I enjoy with my kids on television where they aren't learning to insult others or risk breaking their neck and becoming paralyzed for the rest of their lives?
P.S. Man the ninja warrior competitors are really insecure about themselves. I noticed that the warped wall is only difficult for people 5'6" and under. Does every guy under 5'10" have a chip on his shoulder, ripped abs, and an inferiority complex?
1 AnswerReality Television7 years agoWhy do I get excited about something then after I calm down I don't care anymore?
I had something happen today that happens from time to time. I was watching videos of the immigrants and became very emotional seeing the children (I'm a parent). I went through this manic episode emotionally where I wanted to put together a mission team to go give out aid packages to them. I even imagined myself talking to media and started this huge campaign to make Americans learn to love and stop hating. I was fairly resolute in the matter, then I had a let down. This happened in like an hour from start to finish. Now I no longer care about the subject. I mean as to wanting to do the mission and talk on T.V. and all. I do care about them but that manic episode is gone. I'm not bipolar, but I do have Asperger's; however I'm pretty sure that doesn't have any influence. Why do I get these strong emotional reactions with short periods of extreme grandiose thoughts? Their frequency seems to depend on the stimulus. It just seems strange to me.

I quit playing wow. I've given up on religion. I've given up on learning science. I've given up on reading. Only committed to my family.

4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhat do I do now that I can't find a guide?
I have seen through religion's lie. I have seen through the myth that age brings wisdom. I love the idea of martial arts where a master trains a pupil, but I have seen through it all and realize there's no guidance in life. I wish there was a secret society that would contact me and show me more, however I understand life is where it's at in evolution and I will probably just die from old age one day.
1 AnswerPsychology8 years agoWhy are ancients portrayed as young adults in movies?
Thor (who is probably at least 10,000 years old) acts like a 20s or 30s something in the Marvel movies, Edward (who is 100) acts like a teenager in Twilight, and I'm sure you can find more examples. What makes it worse is that elderly humans who are usually thousands of years younger than the ancient are their wise mentors. That would be like a baby giving advice to an 85 year old man! I believe they would be more accurately portrayed like Gandolf from Lord of the Rings, however I realize that perhaps they are simply trying to relate to a less creative audience who aren't used to the fantasy/ mythology universe.
6 AnswersMovies9 years agoWhat movie is this scene in?
There's a man who looks like Sting that wakes up in a train or bus station wearing nothing but a trench coat. He starts walking away and a man dressed up in a tux with a bowler hat and a mustache starts trying to walk leg to leg with him (sort of like harpo marx used to do) so the guy that looks like Sting push the man away a few times each time the man has this indignant look at the guy who looks like Sting.

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoCan I sue a school for a degree?
I was studying to be a pastor and quit my vicarage which put me out of the program, however I was accepted in the 72hour MA program. I have already completed 99 hours and have been waiting to hear back from the program director. He talks big every time I call then weeks or months pass and I have to call back again then start waiting. Basically they are saying I need 17 hours but they're trying to see what they can make exceptions for. The reason is that 55 of the 99 hours apply directly and the remaining 44 hours aren't the exact classes. Basically they seem to use a different standard for each and every student. I wonder if I should seek legal counsel or if they actually just have all the power and I'm at their whim?
