  • How to solve the immigration problem?

Why don't we just make Mexico a state? That way it would fall under our federal laws. Wages would go up. Federal dollars can be allocated to improve infrastructure, etc, etc...

  • President Bush?

Maybe it is just me, but the more I see him in the media, the more clueless he seems to be. I don't think he has any idea about the war in Iraq, the economy, or anything else going on in this country, or the world.

  • Who was it?

One evening, I fell asleep in front of the computer. In the middle of the night, someone whispered my name in my ear and woke me. I jerked awake, but no one was there. My girlfriend was asleep in bed in the next room. Who woke me?

  • Law and Duty?

"When law and duty are one, united by religion, you never become fully conscious, fully aware of yourself. You are always a little less than an individual."

Do you agree with this? Why or why not?

  • Religious Issue?

"You cannot avoid the interplay of politics withinan orthodox religion. This power struggle permeates the training, educating and disciplining of the orthodox community. Because of this pressure, the leaders of such a community inevitablymust face that ultimate internal question: to succumb to complete opportunism as the price of maintaing their rule, or risk sacraficing themselves for the sake of the orthodox ethic."

Your thoughts on this? Does it really apply to todays religions?

  • Respect for the truth?

"My father once told me that respect for the truth comes close to being the basis for all morality. "Something cannot emerge form nothing, " he said. This is profound thinking if you understand how unstable "the truth" can be."

I guess it depends on whos "truth" you want to believe?

  • Age of the Earth?

This is for all the die-hard Christians out there...... If the earth is only 6000 or so years old, where did the dinosaurs come from? Were they here first, then God killed them off and replaced them with man (which would mean that our scientific equipment doesn't work and all our dates are wrong)? Did God just stick the bones in the Earth to give us something interesting to dig up? Or, maybe all the scientists are just lying to us?

  • Evolution/Creation Debate?

I believe in God. But I also believe in science. And I don't think there is any reason why the two things can't coincide. Because we were made in God's image. Which I take to mean not just physically, but also emotionally and mentally. So, if we think things through, and discover things through trial and error, why couldn't have God done the same thing? Thus, bringing us about through a scienctific, or evoluntionary manner?

  • Jazz Music?

Why is it that the one form of music, which is distinctly American, and created by black Americans, seems to have been abandoned by its creators? Granted there are still some famous black jazz musicians around, but the audience for the music is mostly white. How has this come to pass?
