  • Wasn't there a law passed a few years ago that would require private companies to make salary info public?

I seem to remember there was a big brouhaha regarding this law because it would violate the privacy of the employees affected. Perhaps it was related to Sarbanes-Oxley? It's been probably 3 or 4 years back at least. All I can remember is the article was posted in my local paper's website and the huge number of responses from people protesting the law because it seemed to mean that if a person was curious about what their boss made, for example, an individual would just need to submit a written request to the human resources department and they would be legally entitled to the information. There were fears of mass identity theft, reprisals because of salary inequities, etc.

Can anyone remember what this law was and when it was passed? I can't find it on my local paper's website, so maybe their online records don't go back that far.

  • Do I need to include a 1099-MISC with my 2009 1040?

I am filling out a C-EZ for the business income reported to me on a 1099-MISC? I received 2 copies of the 1099, both saying they are for state tax return. Should I make a copy to submit with my 1040? Do they need it?

  • What would happen to my credit card if the bank fails?

I have a WaMu credit card (love it because it has a good interest rate AND I can see my credit score 24/7 at no charge). They are in trouble financially for the same reason as a lot of other banks are. So if they go under or get sold or some other catastrophic thing happens to WaMu (or indeed to any credit card issuer), what happens to my credit card account? Can they demand all outstanding balances as immediately due and payable?

  • What is there to do in Wawa, Ontario?

We're going there in a couple of weeks, and the town doesn't look like much. Am I missing something? We like to do things outside, but not fish.

  • Why can't I split my Imitrex tablets?

I take 100 mg Imitrex tabs. My Mum takes 25 mg, so a smaller dose apparently works. Why can't I split my 100 mg tabs into a couple of more or less 50 mg tabs?

  • Do you have to be 18 to work at all auto parts stores?

My son wants to work at Advance Auto or O'Reilly's Auto Parts, but he heard you have to be 18 to get hired. Is that the case, and if so, why?

  • Why won't forums keep me logged in?

I visit an internet forum regularly, and when I log in, it takes the username and password, but as soon as I click on a forum category, it says "You are not logged in". I have set my cookies to accept every cookie on the planet, added the site to my list of safe sites, and have tried the forum in both Firefox 2.0.0.4 and IE 7.0.

Is there something else I can do? It's very frustrating! Could it be EZ Firewall?

  • Why can't I move non-ash firewood?

So what's with the emerald ash borer beetle stopping me from moving MAPLE firewood?! I think this quarantine, while justified for ASH wood, is being used to justify charging big bucks for firewood near campgrounds! It's ridiculous, particularly when I have maple logs and leftover unfinished pine woodwork at my house that is NOT infested with the ash borer beetle.

If anyone can prove to me why this quarantine somehow also applies to non-ash wood, I'll give you the best answer and associated bragging rights!

  • How can I tell if my employer is spying on me?

If my employer was using software to spy on my computer doings, how could I tell? I am not doing anything other than occasionally looking at my personal email, but I justify that by figuring that I'm not taking 10-minute breaks every hour to go out and burn a cancer stick by the dumpster like many of my workmates....

  • Should I be worried about an inaccurate address history in my credit report?

Does this mean someone in Fargo, ND is impersonating me? I mean, heck, my credit is so bad that I don't even want to be me, so I don't know why someone else would want to! LOL!

Guess I don't know if I should worry about the wierd address or not....

  • Where is that website that has silly bumper stickers, pins and information like "Elect these frozen peas?"

I got to it as a link from a blog, well now I can't find it. Some of the other choices were "Elect this bag of leaves" and so forth. They were very funny, and I am sad I can't find it!!!

  • So what about this Verizon Class Action Settlement?

I got this packet in the mail the other day referencing a Campbell Class Action Settlement. Apparently someone sued Verizon/Airtouch, and it's just now done.

OK, so apparently Verizon did something wrong way back in the day, and so they have to offer benefits to affected subscribers to make it right. So why do I have to extend my service contract an addiitonal year to receive a crummy $15 service credit or a whopping 25% discount on a wireless accessory? Why do I have to do ANYTHING to get this when I am not the one who did anything wrong?

The alternative is to get a service credit of $3 every 3 months beginning in my SEVENTH month after redemption of the voucher, up to and including the 28th month after redemption, or until I enter into a new contract.

It looks like a scam to me, like it's not real. Anyone else get this and A) know if it's for real; or B) think it's a cheapo way of getting out of trouble?

  • Passport names matching the cruise line info?

My husband and I are going on a cruise and we gave only first and last names to the Travel Agent. But our passports have first-middle-last names. Will we have trouble at the dock?

This is our first cruise and we've never gotten passports before, and we don't want to mess it up!

    We are traveling on Norwegian.

  • Tamsin Park, located near Cleveland, OH in the 70's & 80s?

When I was a kid, we used to camp at a campground called Tamsin Park, and it was near Cleveland, OH. It had an American Indian theme, with totem poles in the campground, and beaded necklaces and so forth available in the camp store. I remember going there as a kid, so it would have been in the late 70's and early 80's.

I'm guessing it's probably been turned into a housing development by now....

  • If you're a short woman, how long should your skirts be?

I love the show "What Not To Wear", and they're always harping on not wearing short-short skirts if you're not a teenager, and I'm almost 40. I like wearing long skirts, but do they make a person look shorter? I'm only 5'1".

How did I get to be 39 and not know what I'm supposed to wear? I'm a professional salesperson.

    HELP!
