  • Why are the lowest ratings for the movie 'Avatar' on Internet Movie Database by those who live in the US?

While I understand there are re-used themes and cliches, what surprises me is that it has such a high rating, but there are others bringing it down. While browsing through all the review, I noticed a pattern. It seemed that most people from the United States (who are registered to give a vote) gave this film one star and proceeded to spill out the plot line for other movies I haven't seen. (How rude.)

But the main note is that most '1' stars for this film came from people in the US. Why?

  • Is this question acceptable from a therapist?

My daughter had recently starting seeing a therapist. Apparently, during her first session, the therapist asked her how old she was when she started masturbating. Apparently, he also noted the question was meant to shock her.

Now, in the common work-place, that sort of question could be considered sexual harassment. Is it appropriate for that sort of question to be asked by a therapist, especially on the initial visit of a child?

  • Can a lawn with seemingly dead grass be saved without re-sodding?

We have a yard in South Florida which seems to be just 'dying', even though certain nasty little weeds manage to grow. The grass is usually a mix of patches of green and brown. We have received some advice to use Scott's Weed & Feed and water continuously, while others say that we should re-sod our yard (a very large area and too costly). Is it possible to purchase any type of new grass that will take root, help stifle the weeds and get our lawn looking a bit more less than 'dead'?

  • What definitive set of power tools should a person purchase for the purpose of home upgrades and repairs?

As a fairly new homeowner, I'm finding lots of little things that need to be done. Minor repairs to the garage door, minor soffit and fascia damage, repairing doors and drywall, etc. I like to have the best tool for the job, but when it comes to cutting or finishing, there are several tools more adapted for a particular job. If one were to have the perfect "toolbox" (or perhaps toy box) with practical (not highly specialized) tools, what should it contain?

  • Can the 'Bible' be re-written?

The book itself mentions others "adding words to it". Aside from today's venacular and vocabulary, what "other words" (I'm assuming of wisdom) have been added to the Holy Book.

I think that the original Bible, as printed, is a bit out of date and its language need to be revised. There is a good bit of wisdom to be obtained in the book of Proverbs.

My opinion is that the Bible was a sort of "instruction manual" for the attempts at having a good life, but as 'life' changes over time, so should the instructions.

I've seen many texts outside of the bible, (Aesop's fables for example) that also have their reader strive for good virtues.

I wonder at times if it is safe to say that the Bible is re-written just as often as our laws change to suit society?

  • Why do others feel it necessary to induct others into (their) religeous beliefs?

If people know that they are chosen, saved, etc., why do they feel the need to induct others into their set of beliefs?

In other words, why do people have to 'push' others or 'work' to recruit others into their own religeous doctrines, if they themselves know that they are already going to heaven?
