  • Settlement approaching - we want out?

Right now my settlement date is approaching and I've had a complete change of mind about the house that I intended to buy.

What are my options? I realize that if I cancel, I'll lose my earnst money, but is that it? I'm in VA.

  • Best Online place to buy Workout Machines

I was wondering what the best place is to buy workout machines - machines with lat pull down and such. I'm also interested in buying a bench and maybe (in the FAR future) a squat rack. I would also be interested in getting free weights (10lbs - 100lbs).

  • Foreclosures?

In the next few months my wife and I will be on the market to buy our first home. In the mean time, I want to educate myself on the process, what to look for and what to watch out for.

We've been looking at foreclosed on homes and they look like a steal. This has gotten my spidey-sense tingling though, since if it looks too good to be true, it usually is.

So what's the deal with Foreclosures? Also, where can I go for the 411 on buying a new home?

  • The Hero Savior of Vietnam?

The following was written by R. Carrier (not me)

    Hero Savior of Vietnam

Suppose I told you there was a soldier in the Vietnam War named "Hero Savior" who miraculously calmed storms, healed wounds, conjured food and water out of thin air, and then was blown up by artillery, but appeared again whole and alive three days later, giving instructions to his buddies before flying up into outer space right before their very eyes. Would you believe me? Certainly not. You would ask me to prove it.

  • Which Credit Report?

I'm interested in checking my credit - what's the best place to go in order to do this? I did a one-time check a few years ago, only to discover that they continually billed my credit card for a few months after the one time check. I got that dispute resolved.

  • SPIN - By Robert Charles Wilson?

I'm about a quarter of the way through this science fiction novel and I was wondering if anyone else had read it or not. I'm a little concerned because I read in a review that the ending is rushed and feels anticlimatic. Any truth to this?

  • Meteor Problems and YEC's?

Another problem for young earth creationists are meteor impacts. In the light of the many truly massive meteors that have crashed into earth, how is the YEC remotely possible?

In a time span of 6-10 thousand years, how could mankind have survived the impacts from these meteors? In addition to at least 140 large meteors there have been at least 5 truly massive meteors. One of these massive meteors is an extinction level meteor - meaning that it would effect the entire earth when it hit. Just one, but there are at least five of these global killers that have been verified to hit the earth. In other words, it's simply not even remotely possible that life on earth could have survived all these impacts if the earth was only 10 thousand years old. Further, there isn't any Biblical support for these impacts. Nor is there any record of them in any of the civilizations from around the world.

  • Another question for creationists?

According to creationist theory, how can we use paternity tests to determine who is the father of a child? DNA doesn’t represent common descent after all.

If you, as a creationist, think we can use DNA testing to determine paternity then please explain why it can’t be used to trace common ancestory.

Also, why would god create similar DNA in species? The stock answer that creationists give that DNA represents a common designer is quite bizarre. Is god trying to deceive us into believing in common descent? After all, there is no reason why god would have created all the animals on earth using the same amino acids. Furthermore there is no reason why primates and man should be anywhere remotely similar-so why are they? Why would god put evidence down that shows evidence of common descent? Especially when there is no reason for us to share similar DNA?

If creationism is true, then why do primates and man share the same endogenous retroviral inserts at precisely the same loci?

Why do whales get the bends if common descent is wrong or if an intelligent designer designed them?

  • The Joshua Challenge?

I Wrote the following a few years ago:

    ----

Let's pretend for a second that you are part of Joshua's army. You might want to reread the book of Joshua to get a better glimpse of what that would be like. In any event, you live in the time of miracles. Your people are the chosen people of God. God has continually worked his will to help and harm your people. You grew up with stories of God flooding the earth, while sparing Noah, and stories of God helping Moses get his people away from the Pharaoh.

God has even helped your commander-Joshua-with his conquests of the ancient world (or through your eyes-the present).
