  • Use of II, III, IV, etc. in a name?

In Greek, it is customary to name sons after grandfathers...For example, George Michael Smith names his son Michael George Smith after his father. Michael George then names his first son George Michael after his grandfather so that the two names George Michael Smith and Michael George Smith keep repeating every other generation. Question: Should they use or continue to use the suffix of II, III, IV, v, etc. after their respective names?

  • What is the shelf life of whole milk?

I bought a pint of whole milk today...3/8/14. The shelf-life date stamped on it is 4/30/14 -- a whopping 53 days out!!! Seems far-fetched...who do I report it to at the state level?

  • Can you help me with a classic passage, please?

At lunch today someone was trying to recall Dostoyevsky's brilliant, rambling definition of an Idiot (from his book, The Idiot) but was unable to. Anyone able to post it here for me -- I'd appreciate it!!! Thanks!

  • What is my national heritage?

I was born in and live in the U.S. My grandfather came to the U.S. in 1922 from Canada (province of Quebec). I recently saw his immigration papers and request for citizenship. He listed his heritage as British rather than Canadian or French. While I understand that Canada is a British colony my question is whether I am of French Canadian descent or British Canadian descent? Just curious...

  • What are some suggestions for uses with egg yolks?

Plenty of recipes call for the use of egg whites -- so what can I do with the leftover yolks instead of just tossing them? Thanks!

  • Question for Rapture-ites?

Yesterday I attended the funeral of a "born-again" Christian who died at the age of 83. He was beloved by many. However, for the past 30 years he had insisted unequivocally that he would never -- absolutely never -- experience death because he would experience being raptured. Several members of his family have insisted the same as well as many fellow members of his Assembly of God church. The issue is, many of them have indeed died. My question is, why are so many of the AoG church -- and other denominations -- so insistent on being raptured and now they are dead? What happened -- was their faith wrong? Is the rapture not happening in the manner they insisted on? Isn't insisting that they will "not die" but be raptured tantamount to demanding that God is going to do their will (by coming when they expect him to...during their lifetime) rather than submitting their will unto God's? Again...I know of many with this belief and they are insistant...

  • A Note of Apology to those of Jewish descent?

My answer to the question about the religious heritage of Elvis was chosen as best answer by the asker. I had used a website to prove that Elvis was Jewish. However in his comment to my response the asker informed me that the website I had selected to back up my answer is actually anti-Semitic. I am horrified to know that and I apologize to all Jews for my rushed answer (it was after 10:00 p.m. and the first site I saw which answered my question). Elvis was Jewish but I should have taken more time to check out the website as a whole...I usually do. I regret my choice of reference.

  • A Question for Atheists?

I am Roman Catholic....if you've read my previous posts, you know that I defend atheists.

Now I am puzzled...why are you suing our Federal Government about putting "In God We Trust" in the new Visitors' Center in D.C.? You claim that it offends you....but there is no outcry from the thousands of Buddhists, Hindus, Shintos, Bahai"s, Native Americans, etc. in this country...

Why, then, do you feel a need to sue? Do you continue to use our currency with In God We Trust on it? No other groups complain or sue....

  • Issue with Diabetes Mellitus?

Greetings! I have been NIDDM for 5 years. Because of insurance issues I have been off and on my meds for the past 2-3 years. I have now been faithful to my meds for the past 3 weeks. I need reminders on how to eat. This morning my fasting Glucose reading was 135. Two hours after a 1/2 cup of coffee and an Englsih muffin (both halves) with p'nut butter, it went up to 202! Did I eat too much? Not enough? What's up with the nausea? Again, is it because I haven't eaten enough? And the dehydration?

Also, what are some good "grab-n-go" snacks? I can't exactly eat yogurt while I drive! Ideas? Thanks!

  • Calling all Rapturites!?

You deny that God Most High raised up the Virgin Mary to Heaven at the end of her earthly life (which the Catholic Church celebrates today, 8/15) -- but you believe that you yourselves are going to be "raised up" during the Rapture? How do you explain the discrepancy? Surely Mary was/is greater than you because of his mercy and kindness?

Do you believe Elija was lifted up in 2 Kings 2:11? Or Enoch in Heb. 11:5?

  • Anyone got recipes for icecream cone fillings?

I am looking for recipes for various types of "nougat" fillings for icecream cones. We used to buy them as kids. Cones were flat-bottom and the filling was honey (I think) with a nougat like layer on top of the honey. What are they called, please? Are they still sold anywhere? I also want various nougat recipes for fillings. Thanks!!!

A friend recently had one in Canada madse with caro syrup (I think), sweetened condensed milk and other stuff.....

Come back to me with all your heart.

Don't let fear keep us apart.

Trees do bend, though straight and tall

so must we, to other's call.

Long have I waited for your coming,

home to me and living, deeply our new lives.

    The wilderness will lead you

to your heart where I will speak.

    Integrity and justice,

    With tenderness, you shall know.

Long have I waited for your coming,

home to me and living, deeply our new lives.

    You shall sleep secure with peace;

    faithfulness will be your joy.

Long have I waited for your coming,

home to me and living, deeply our new lives.

  • Renting an Oldie Car?

I am aware that Fathers' Day has just passed...however, I want a very early start for next year's gift for my Dad.

Is there a place in the greater Boston/Worcester (Massachusetts) area where an oldie kind of car can be rented/leased for the day for my Dad to be able to drive? He's 74 and would really get a kick out of being able to drive one for a few hours -- to bring back the memories of the old "Sunday drive".

    Perhaps something like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/essyse/31032698/

OR something out of the late 40's?

    Thanks!

  • Statues of Jesus and Mary?

Calling all Fundies and others who accuse Catholics of "worshipping" statues: I'm Catholic with plenty of Assembly of God relatives. They tell me I'm wrong to have statues of Jesus and Mary. Wanna guess what they put in their little mangers near their Christmas tree every year? Yup....statues!!!!! Of Jesus and Mary, of course! When I ask them about the very obvious discrepancy (and I love to ask) -- they are totally speechless and at a loss as to how to answer! Hypocritical?

Not only that, the chapel at the agts (Assembly of God Theological Seminary) has stained glass windows depicting their human founders: William Seymour (the chapel is named after him -- not God) and "Mother" Flowers!

    http://www.agts.edu/building/chapel.html

Can any AoG people enlighten me about your use of statues? And honoring your human founders? No Catholic saint (many of whom have churches named after them) NEVER invented their own church like Seymour, Charles Parham & "Mother" Flowers...
