3 AnswersDogs7 years agoJapanese money - am I right in guessing it is similar to our way of counting (ex: 100 pennies = a dollar?
I have pre-purchased money for my trip to Japan but the packet did not come with an explanation. When I goggle it, the explanations assume you know what you are doing. Once I know the basic formula I'll have a clue when I first land at the airport and may want to purchase a snack/meal. I'm not worried about how it balances against my own currency. Just want to be sure I don't overspend for something. After that I'll be with family and all will be well. Thanks.
4 AnswersOther - Destinations8 years agoLanding in Narita airport in Japan and connecting to another flight to end up in Hiroshima. Any advise?
I printed out the airport map for Narita. Are there bilingual signs? I am looking at downloading their free app for the airport. Nervous about this part of my trip.
3 AnswersJapan8 years agoLiver cancer - secondary?
Dad will be 87 in a week. He had surgery for colon cancer last year. Nov. CAT scan showed a 3cm tumor in his liver. As of April/08 it is 5.1cm x 4.1. He is not going to treat it. So far, so good; he feels fine. He lives on his own. From your experience, what can we expect re: symptoms and general time frame. The websites I found don't deal with non-treated cancer. Doc told me not to concern myself with hospice at this time; that Dad's overall condition is okay. Thanks.
1 AnswerCancer1 decade agoEaster - why the date is set based on moon phase?
I know the formula for setting the Easter date. I want to know why we do it this way? I've heard everything from early Christians hiding their beliefs within a pagan ceremony to avoid prosecution to Julian calendar switching to Gregorian, including algorhythms! Could it simply be the moon phase from when Christ rose from the dead?
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoLooking how to reattach the tuner string?
I have acquired a Sylvania AM clock radio, model 598, circa 1953. The tuner string popped off the mechanism and I can't figure out the right combination to reattach it. Sylvania no longer has the info and Sams photofacts do not list it. Anyone have a link or a diagram?
1 AnswerOther - Electronics1 decade agoHas anyone shipped homemade baked goods to a soldier in Iraq? Did they survive the trip?
My son has been in Iraq and I thought about sending cupcakes, without the icing, and including tubs of icing for them to put on there. Boxes take about a week to get there. I'm concerned about the cake getting stale.
4 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoWhat is really meant with a promise ring?
When I was a teen - a long, long time ago - we went steady. One guy, one girl for however long it lasted. College girls got "pinned" - same idea but you were older and it was a step before engagement. Is a "promise ring" similar to our going steady ring? Just curious.
5 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoHow could a in-use light bulb fill up with water?
Years ago, while on a commuter train, I watched an old-fashioned, hanging light bulb fill up with rain water. I alerted the folks around me and we moved right before it blew up. I have yet to figure this out.
4 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoWho would be on your list for "Top Ten Leading Ladies" in movies?
I am trying to make a list for a group of ladies I work out with. Our group is called "Leading Ladies". Thought I'd get other opinions. Any mix of time eras is fine. Thanks.
