how is hepatitis spread?
Hello... my friend has hepatitis C. Is it possible to spread the infection when sharing eating utensils? I sometimes get cold sores.. could I still catch it? I don't have a dishwasher so when I wash dishes the water gets hot but not hot enough to sterilize.

1 AnswerInjuries8 years agoMy son has an peanut allergy... but no reaction?
My 4 son is allergic to egg, milk, and peanut. He had reactions to only 2 of these. First was milk, by one years old we let him try milk, but after consuming 6 ounces he would vomit. Visited the Allergist and he was tested... which confirmed his milk allergy. The other 2 egg and peanut: we used to sprinkle egg yolk in his oatmeal.. adding protein to his diet because he was such a picky eater. He NEVER had a reaction of any sort.... no rash, no inflammation, no digestive problems or respiratory problems. Egg falls on floor he touched it before I got to it to clean it up... his hands swelled up. I used epi-injection pen which cleared him up in seconds... called the pediatrician to report. Returned to Allergist, he was tested for egg, and asked to test him for peanut since that was a common food allergy. Test confirmed he was allergic to egg and peanut. It was my surprise with peanuts, because we used to feed him peanut better... again no reaction of any sort.
He gets retested every 6 months. Recently he was there...tests confirmed he was still allergic to all 3 and allergist informed me he was not a candidate to start eating those again.
Why did my son have no reaction to digesting the egg and peanut, but did when tested??

5 AnswersToddler & Preschooler9 years agoAny suggestions for a 1 year old child with picky eating habits?
I am frustrated that my 1 year old is a fussy eater... it also doesn't help that he is allergic to milk. I have to avoid anything that contains milk. There is only 2 things he'll never pass up... he loves bananas and soy yogurt. Any type of fruit... he'll eat it.... because it is sweet. I've tried to blend foods that he'll like with food that he doesn't like but needs to eat. Sometimes it works... sometimes it doesn't and I get frustrated because I have to waste the food and find something else for him to eat so he wont starve. There are also times when he won't eat the food that he likes... I often wonder why he is not hungry. I am concerned about his weight... he is 27 pounds and is 2 feet tall. His pediatrician says just tells me encourage him to eat more... which I am trying my best. I am thankful for any suggestions.
5 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoHow do I get my 11 month old boy to stop chewing on everything?
He persistently bites and licks on everything! I am very worried about how his teeth will end up. I have tried teething rings... freezed them and flavored them... but he isn't interested. I constantly remove him from where he is biting/licking at... but he returns to the same spot. This is one bad habbit I am desperate to break. Any suggestions? Thank you!
2 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoVaginal Discharge?
I am 14 weeks pregnant. I have had normal vaginal discharge up until today. Today I noticed brown discharge... it dosn't look too dark... so I am not sure if it is old blood or is it's some vaginal infection. Is this normal during pregnancy? Or should I call my OB?
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoIs this safe?
I have a 4 year old cat. I am also 3 months pregnant. I am aware of toxoplasmosis and that I am to stay away from the litter box... my fiance cleans out the box for me every week. But now that I really ponder about it... since the cat steps inside the litter... she still touching her feces with her paws when she burries them... so then wouldn't the cat be carrying the virus everywhere she goes? I would have to worry about cleaning everywhere she steps. Am I crazy? I feel bad for the kitty but I am want a healthy child. If I have to give up the cat... I would give it to someone I know who would like one... so I know it would be well taken care of.
14 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoSore Tongue?
Hello... I wasn't sure exactly where to post this... I was wondering if this was a problem that should be solved by a doctor or a dentist.
My tongue feels sore. I did not bite on it, I did not drink anything hot, I am not sick nor do I have a fever, it feels sensitive as if I had thrush, but no white patches are present, it is not deeply red or inflamed, there aren't any unusual spots, bumps or opened sores.
I take prenatal vitamins. I eat normally. I brush twice daily and brush my tongue & palate.
What could this possibly be?
Is this another one of them bizarre pregnancy issues?

Hello,
I am 10 weeks pregnant!
I had recently gotten an exam and an ultrasound and both turned out just fine. Apparently I need to be checked more often because I had a cone biopsy 4 years ago. Cone biopsy could cause high risk pregnancy because the cervix can open up. And I learned... that having a cervix opened can harm and possibly kill the fetus. My nurse practitioner didn't explain the do's and don'ts if the cervix would be opened. This concerned me because had I known that I was at high risk I wouldn't have had continue to have sex with my fiance. I had read sex was safe during pregnancy... so I thought cool. I was even thinking about going to the shore for our honeymoon (getting married in August)... and I wondered if I could go into the water. Now I am confused & worried.
9 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoEggs & Pregnancy?
Hello...
I am about 9 weeks pregnant. I am still learning what foods I can eat and which foods to curb from.
I love eggs... good source of protein. I love to eat them prepared in every way. Is it safe to eat them sunny side up or soft boiled? Or do they need to be fully cooked?
Thanks!
6 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoRising Body Tempurature & Pregnancy?
Hello,
I am 7 weeks pregnant. I been constantly feeling hot... usually during the night my temps run up to 99.0 F. Is this normal? Or is not safe and that I should contact my OB/GYN?
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoPregnancy & Eating Cheese?
Hello,
Today I ate pasta. Usually with pasta I sprinkle a load of grated parmesan cheese. Now that I am pregnant, I didn't even think about the risk of listeriosis if cheese isn't pasteurized. As soon as I remembered, which I only took a few bites, I pushed the pasta to the side and looked at the label on the Grated Cheese bottle... said nothing about pasteurization, so now I am worried. Will this still harm the fetus?
13 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoPregnancy & Slight Hemorrhaging?
Hello
I am 6 weeks pregnant. Last night I exerperienced sharp pains around my lower left abdomen. I was at work (at a hospital) when I called my OB/GYN about the problem. I haven't done any major physical lifting, and this is my first time experiencing this pain. He told me if the pain is severe go to the ER... which I did. I feared the possiblity of ectopic pregnancy.
The urine & blood test came out fine... and for the ultrasound it showed I had an ovarian cyst (which was normal) on the right side... the embryo is in the uterus where it should be... I was relieved. The thing that scared me was the ER doctor said that there was a slight hemorrhage behind the placenta. I still never experienced any spotting or bleeding.
I faxed the reports over to my OB/GYN... she says that I should follow up in my second trimemester and that I should keep my next appointment which is April 23. Should I be concerned? Should I asked to be seen sooner or get another opinion?
I'm worried :0(
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoPrengnacy & Belly Consistancy?
Hello...
I am 6 weeks pregnant... I noticed a few days ago... my belly felt hard and it looked bloated as if I had my period... my lower abdomen (where my bladder is) was sensitive to touch that if rubbed I had to pee. I wondered why that was because the fetus isn't big enough. Now my belly is soft. Is this normal?
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoPregnancy & Kitty?
Hello...
I am almost 6 weeks pregnant! Woo Hoo!
I have a cat. Some of my friends say keep the cat... others say give the cat to someone else... because of the risk of taxoplasmosis and the possible cat's future jealousy towards the new comer. I don't touch the liter box... my fiance cleans it for me. I wash my hands before and after touching raw meat, cooking, eating, & using the bathroom.
I had washed my hands before eating a snack... but my kitty was ontop of me and I wanted her off of me so I moved her... so now I am freaking out because I forgot to wash my hands again. Will this affect the baby?
I am excited that I am pregnant but I am so worried over every little thing... I have gone crazy!
Thankyou all!
And congrats to all the mommy-to-bes!
11 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoPregnancy & Bowel Movement?
Hello
I am 5 weeks pregnant & counting!
This is a bit awkward to ask... but every time during bowel movment my belly feels uncomfortable. I don't think I'm constipated because I am able to go... just takes a little while. I fear of putting strain on the belly...what can I do to have a smooth process and not strain?
I'm not on any prenatal vitamins yet... I see my OB/GYN on April 23rd. Should I start taking them right away or do I wait to see my OB/GYN? If so... does the doctor order them or can I get them over the counter?
Thanks...
Congrats to all the mommy-to-bes out there!
7 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoPregnancy & HPV?
I am happy to announce that this is my first pregnancy! I am very excited...
Unfortunately I don't know the exact date of my last period... I know it came during the last week of February. I am guessing I am about 5 weeks pregnant. I know it would be difficult to determine when the due date will be... I am assuming the last week in November or the first week of December. Is there another way of predicting the due date such as an ultrasound?
One of my main concerns is... with having hpv... is it safe to have sex during pregnancy? Or will the baby contract the virus? If so.. for the baby's protection I can wait :0)
I know there is a slight chance of the baby contracting the virus during delivery... so I would consider a C section.
Thankyou... I appreciate any info given!
