I know this has been discussed before, but I'm hoping someone can give me a reference.

This question, in a Cambridge level test for “English Grammar in Use,” reads, "Don't work in pairs. Everyone has to do the exercise by _____________." The correct answer, according to the author, is "themselves." I think the correct answer is "himself,” because "everyone" is singular. I understand that "themselves" has been suggested in deference to the doctrine of political correctness, but surely "himself or herself" would be preferable, especially in a grammar textbook.

I need a reference for my point of view, if anyone can provide one.

These subhumans have nothing better to do with their time than harass decent people who are doing our best to live Godly lives. If we simply ignore them, don't you think they'll eventually get bored and go away? And why don't they spend their time straightening out the inconsistencies and misdeeds of their own religions? Surely that would be more productive! After all, charity begins at home!

I'm going to pray to Allah to save the world and set it at peace, to inspire and reconcile our leaders (and all of us, Muslim and non-) rightly, to cure those who are ill and forgive and guide those who are astray, to provide us all with halal income, and to give us all the best, whatever is, and to make us pleased with it.

Also, personally, I'm going to ask Allah to forgive me, to guide me in everything I say, think, and do, to bring me closer to my family, and to guide me to read, understand, and memorize the Holy Qur'an better.

I ask this because someone just answered a question by saying "just for the record not all christians believe jesus to be god."

It would be interesting to know which sects think this way, and why.

I've only been looking at thiis site a couple of weeks, but I have noticed a difference between the Christian (in general) and the Muslim (in general) approaches to answer questions.

The Christians, when writing about Islam, use harsh, hostile language, and do not use any texts to prove their allegations.

The Muslims, when answering the Christians, write calmly and rationally, using texts to prove their answers.

I was raised Christian, and was taught to be respectful of everyone of every faith. As a Muslim, I respect everyone of every faith who is truthful, respectful, and just.

What is the reason for the differences in attitudes here at Yahoo! answers?
