Built a 900 SF addition to 2 story 2500 SF colonial house and increased furnace and air conditioning accordingly. I did not add additional return air vents or increase size of 2 existing. The new A/C unit which runs at a higher fan speed than the furnace produces considerable return air noise due to high return air velocity. Would adding a return air duct system in the new addition reduce exisitng noise?

When I try to run chkdsk on my hard drive (XP home) I get the following:

The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?

This is an endless loop since checking run chkdsk upon reboot does nothing. I have tried shutting down everything I could find, including virus software and router, but that did not help.

How can I get past this message and run chkdsk?

Running Windows XP - how do I find what programs initialize when computer is turned on and how do I add/delete from this list?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop (1 yr old) running Windows XP Home and periodically upon start up I get a blue screen with the message - Stop c0000145 (Application error). The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000005). Click okay to terminate the application.--

Nothing I click terminates the screen but a cold boot a few minutes later will often get the laptop running. What is causing this problem and how do I fix it? - Thanx

G-7 has mini USB connection to download to computer and that works fine. Is it possible to download directly from camera to a thumb drive?
